Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed at determining the relationship between sleep quality and the occurrence of increased blood pressure in preoperative patients. Methods: The research method is the quantitative method with a correlational study approach. The sampling technique used was purposing sampling with a total of 68 respondents according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection method was the observational analytic method and the data analysis used the Eta correlation test. Results: The results of the Eta correlation test to find out the relationship between sleep quality and increased blood pressure showed a p-value of 0.003<0.05 meaning that there was a significant relationship between sleep quality and increased blood pressure. The majority of the respondents had bad sleep quality as many as 36 respondents (52.9%) and most of them who had an increase in blood pressure of 20-50% were 36 respondents (52.9%). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between sleep quality and increased blood pressure in preoperative patients. The results of the Eta test showed a p-value of 0.003 indicating a significant relationship between sleep quality and increased blood pressure.

Abstract

Background: Surgery is one of the essential medical procedures in health services. Patients undergoing surgical procedures require anesthesia. One of the complications that often occurs after general anesthesia during recovery after using the sevoflurane agent is cases of agitation, which are caused by several factors, including the time to recover consciousness. Aim of the Study: The study aimed to determine the relationship between recovery time and cases of agitation after general anesthesia. Research Method: This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional survey research design. 79 respondents were selected using purposive sampling techniques with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman rank test. Findings: The majority of respondents were shown to be 42 (53.2%) experiencing agitation after general anesthesia, and two respondents (2.5%) experiencing very agitation. Respondents who experienced cases of agitation with a quick recovery time were 37 respondents (46.8%). The research results show p-value = 0.000 and a correlation coefficient of 0.866. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the time to recover consciousness and cases of agitation after general anesthesia at Sleman Regional Hospital, with a very strong correlation, and the direction of the relationship is positive. This finding suggests that a quicker recovery time may lead to a higher incidence of post-anesthesia agitation. Suggestion: The results of this research are expected to serve as an evaluation for the Sleman District Hospital so that there are operational standards (SOP) regarding handling agitation cases after general anesthesia in the recovery room.

Abstract

Background: The Endotracheal Tube intubation process, used for general anesthesia, involves inserting a tube into the trachea through through the mouth or nose. This can lead to post-procedure discomfort, such as hoarseness or a sore throat. These side effects are often caused by the tube’s pressure on the trachea and the inflation of its cuff. Aim of the Study: The study aimed to determine the relationship between Cuff pressure and the level of throat pain after general anesthesia Endotracheal Tube (ETT) intubation at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Bantul. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative research design using correlation analysis to investigate the relationship between cuff pressure during endotracheal intubation and post-operative sore throat. Non-probability sampling was utilized to select 57 participants. Cuff pressure was measured using a specialized tool, and pos-toperative sore throat severity was assessed through observation. Spearman rank correlation analysis was conducted to analyze the data. Findings: This research found that most of the cuff pressure was in 20cmH2O - 30cmH2O or normal cuff pressure for 20 respondents (64.9%). Most respondents (50.9%), or 29 of them, experienced sore throat in this study. The results of the relationship test between Endotracheal Tube (ETT) Cuff pressure and sore throat after general anesthesia using the Spearman rank test obtained a significant p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a correlation coefficient value of 0.568. Conclusion: There is a relationship between ETT Cuff pressure and cases of sore throat after general anesthesia at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Bantul. Suggestion: Further researchers are expected to be able to relate between ETT Cuff pressure and the level of throat pain with different variables.
