The Influence of the Problem Based Model on the Ability to Write Explanatory Text of Class VIII Students at SMPN 24 Jambi City Fitra Alauddina; Eddy Pahar Harahap; Lusia Oktri Wini

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the influence of the PBL model on student success to write explanatory texts in student which was carried out in August-September of the 2022/2023 academic year. The method used in this reasearch is a two group pretest posttest design. In the experimental group learning, the leraning model was the Problem Based Learning, while in the control group learning, the conventional method was used. Each learning group was initially given a test in the form of a pretest and at the end of the learning was given a test in the form of a posttest. This study uses population and sample in the study. The population is all eighth grade students.The total sample was 64 people. The instrument used was a learning test to write explanatory text. Based on calculations, the average value obtained from the results of the explanation text in the experimental class posttest was 74,6. This value of the control class, namely 46,4. Data analysis requirements were tested using a normality test. Sample data can be said to be a normal distribution if Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) > 0.05. Based on the results of the homogeneity test on samples from both classes, it shows that the sample distribution is normal. This is indicated by obtaining 0.0315 > 0.05 in the experimental class and control class with a significance value in both Based On Mean classes >0.05. Next, hypothesis testing was carried out using the Wilcoxon test. The hypothesis testing criteria is rejection based on the analysis prerequisite test. The sig. value obtained is 0.000. So therefore, formulated that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning model on the learning to write explanatory texts for class VIII students at SMPN 24 Kota Jambi City is accepted. The PBL model can be used to achieve learning goals. Using the Problem Based Learning model also maes learning more varied and not boring.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the linguistic elements of short story texts in the compositions of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. The type of research in this study is qualitative. In this study, a descriptive method was used to determine and describe the linguistic elements of short story texts in the compositions of class VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. The data source in this study was the short story text of class VII D students of SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi, observations of the linguistic elements of short story texts in student compositions. Data collection techniques used observation and documentation. The data validity test in this study used the triangulation technique. The theory in this study uses interactive data analysis of the Miles and Huberman model which consists of four stages. The first stage is data reduction, followed by data presentation, and in the third stage, drawing conclusions. The results of this study are that the short stories made by students as a whole do not contain one or two linguistic elements. In particular, students still have difficulty in using second person pronouns and inter-sentence conjunctions. The most common repetition elements are word repetition and phrase repetition. Most of the short stories made by students contain short story linguistic elements in the form of first and third person pronouns. And the short stories written by students often use intra-sentence conjunctions and only a few use inter-sentence conjunctions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari keunikan penggunaan gaya bahasa dalam novel Algrafi, yang tidak hanya menarik dari segi alur cerita, tetapi juga dari sisi keindahan bahasanya. Dwi Berliana memanfaatkan beragam gaya bahasa perbandingan seperti simile, metafora, dan personifikasi untuk memperkuat penggambaran karakter, suasana, serta konflik emosional dalam cerita. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis gaya bahasa perbandingan yang digunakan dalam novel Algrafi, serta menjelaskan fungsinya dalam memperkaya makna dan keindahan bahasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan stilistika. Prosedur penelitian dilakukan melalui teknik baca dan catat terhadap teks novel Algrafi terbitan Black Swan Books tahun 2022. Data yang ditemukan kemudian diklasifikasikan berdasarkan jenis gaya bahasa perbandingan, seperti simile, metafora, personifikasi, depersonifikasi, alegori, antitesis, pleonasme, perifrasis, prolepsis, dan epanortosis. Analisis dilakukan dengan teknik hermeneutik untuk menafsirkan makna dan fungsi gaya bahasa dalam konteks cerita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gaya bahasa perbandingan dalam novel Algrafi digunakan secara dominan melalui bentuk simile dan metafora, yang berfungsi memperjelas emosi tokoh dan memperindah narasi. Personifikasi dan alegori juga ditemukan dan berperan dalam menciptakan kesan simbolik serta menambah daya imajinatif pembaca. Secara keseluruhan, penggunaan gaya bahasa perbandingan dalam novel ini tidak hanya memperkaya estetika narasi, tetapi juga memperkuat penyampaian pesan moral dan emosional yang ingin disampaikan pengarang.
