Abstract

Good nutrition is absorbed efficiently and optimizes children's brain and cognitive development. Nutritional disorders in childhood can cause a decline in cognitive, motor, and language development abilities. The coverage of elementary schools of health services in Indonesia in 2021 is 57.5%, West Java Province is 56.9%, and Depok City is 40.37%. The purpose is to strengthen the understanding of proper nutrition for optimal cognitive function of students, to parents of SDN 04 Bojongsari students in Depok City. We invited 54 parents and 54 students to the events and determined the characteristics of respondents, parents’ knowledge of nutritional intake, and students' intelligence level. In parents, the level of knowledge was low by 41 people, and high knowledge by 13 people. The intelligence level of children in the superior category of 1 person, above the average of 6 people, an average of 29 people, below the average of 9 people, borderline 7 people, and intellectually deficient 2 people. Parents' knowledge is still lacking. Students in the superior category of 1 person, and most students in the average category indicate that there is a need for attention to students' nutritional intake to improve their level of intelligence. Regular follow-up of counseling activities needs to be carried out to monitor parents’ efforts in improving nutritional intake in children, providing food as lunch for elementary school children is a good idea for the continuation and maintenance of nutritional intake in children, cooperation between schools and health centers is needed to fulfill nutritional intake for improving students’ cognition or intelligence. Abstrak Status gizi yang baik apabila tubuh mendapatkan zat gizi lengkap dan dapat diserap secara efisien serta mengoptimalkan perkembangan otak dan kognitif anak-anak. Gangguan nutrisi pada masa anak-anak, dapat menyebabkan penurunan kemampuan kognitif, motorik, dan perkembangan bahasa. Cakupan SD/MI yang melakukan pelayanan kesehatan di Indonesia tahun 2021 57,5%, Provinsi Jawa Barat 56, 9 % Kota Depok 40,37%. Tujuan abdimas untuk melakukan penguatan pemahaman nutrisi yang tepat untuk fungsi kognitif optimal siswa, kepada orang tua siswa SDN 04 Bojongsari Kota Depok. Kami melibatkan 54 orang tua dan 54 siswa pada acara penyuluhan, kami menentukan tiga indikator yaitu karakteristik responden, gambaran pengetahuan terhadap asupan nutrisi serta tingkat kecerdasan siswa. Pada orang tua siswa tingkat pengetahuan rendah sebesar 41 orang (75,9%), pengetahuan tinggi 13 orang (24,1%). Pada tingkat kecerdasan anak kategori superior 1 orang, diatas rata-rata 6 orang, rata-rata 29 orang, dibawah rata-rata 9 orang, borderline 7 orang dan intellectual deficient 2 orang. Gambaran pengetahuan orang tua siswa terhadap permasalahan gizi masih kurang dalam hal asupan nutrisi dan tingkat kecerdasan anak. Siswa pada kategori superior 1 orang, dan paling banyak siswa pada kategori rata-rata. Gambaran pengetahuan orang tua siswa terhadap pemahaman dan pengetahuan masalah gizi untuk fungsi kognitif menunjukkan pengetahuan mereka masih lebih banyak pada tingkat rendah, dengan melakukan penyuluhan ini diharapkan pemahaman nutrisi yang tepat untuk fungsi kognitif anak yang dilakukan kepada orang tua diharapkan dapat lebih optimal. Tindak lanjut kegiatan penyuluhan secara berkala perlu dilakukan untuk memonitor upaya orang tua dalam perbaikan asupan gizi pada anak, penyediaan makanan sebagai makan siang anak SD merupakan ide bagus demi terlaksananya kelanjutan dan menjaga asupan gizi pada anak, perlu kerjasama antara sekolah dan puskesmas dalam upaya pemenuhan asupan gizi bagi peningkatan kognitif atau kecerdasan siswa.

Abstract

Dermatomikosis dengan frekuensi tertinggi kedua di Indonesia adalah pitiriasis versikolor yang disebabkan oleh jamur Malassezia furfur. Obat berbahan kimia dapat memiliki efek resisten dan merugikan jika digunakan dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Daun kumis kucing mengandung zat bioaktif yang diketahui memiliki kemampuan menekan perkembangan jamur, antara lain alkaloid, saponin, tanin, fenolik, flavonoid, triterpenoid, steroid, dan glikosida. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memastikan apakah ekstrak daun kumis kucing (Orthosiphon aristatus) dapat secara efektif menghentikan pertumbuhan jamur M. furfur. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok post test dan termasuk dalam kategori penelitian eksperimen murni yang dilakukan secara in vitro di laboratorium. Metode difusi sumuran digunakan untuk uji aktivitas antijamur. Pertumbuhan M. furfur sebagai variabel terikat dalam uji aktivitas antijamur yang menggunakan metode difusi sumuran dan variabel bebas berupa konsentrasi ekstrak 1,25%, 2,5%, 5%, 10%, dan 25%. Variabel kontrol terdiri dari kontrol positif ketokonazol 2% dan kontrol negatif larutan DMSO. Uji Post-Hoc Mann-Whitney digunakan setelah uji statistik Kruskal-Wallis. Pada 24 dan 48 jam dilakukan pengamatan zona hambat. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa daun kumis kucing berhasil mencegah pertumbuhan M. furfur, dengan zona hambat rata-rata terbesar adalah 5,99 mm pada konsentrasi 10%, sehingga menghasilkan perbedaan signifikan pada hasil uji statistik.

Abstract

One of the common causes of infant death is infectious diseases which can be prevented by immunization also called PD3I (diseases that can be prevented by immunization). The three domains of behavior knowledge, attitude, and action, play a big role in mothers completing their childs immunization status to fulfill immunization coverage by a minimum of 80%, according to the Universal Child Immunization (UCI) standards. Successful immunization coverage is believed to help achieve the highest level of public health. The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between maternal knowledge, attitude, and action toward basic immunization and the basic immunization status of children at Permata Depok Hospital in 2023 for further improvement of immunization coverage and reduce infant mortality rates. This research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The research population was mothers of toddler patients at Permata Depok Hospital who visited on the recruitment day and met the inclusion criteria using consecutive sampling techniques. The sample size in this study was 52 participants. The Chi-Square statistical test was used in bivariate data analysis with a confidence level of 95% (α=5%). Based on the research results, it was found that there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the child's basic immunization status (p=0,010), there is a significant relationship between the maternal attitude and the child's basic immunization status (p=0,006), there is also a significant relationship between the maternal action regarding basic immunization and the child's basic immunization status (p=,0001).

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between soft drink consumption and obesity among adolescents. Obesity, a critical public health issue, has shown a rising prevalence globally, including in Indonesia, due to changes in dietary patterns and lifestyle. The research adopts a cross-sectional design conducted at Santo Thomas 1 Private High School in Medan, involving 198 students categorized into obese and non-obese groups based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The findings reveal that frequent soft drink consumption (more than three times a week) significantly increases the risk of obesity (p = 0.0001). Additionally, low physical activity and excessive caloric intake were identified as major contributing factors. Multivariate analysis highlighted low physical activity as the dominant risk factor for obesity, with an odds ratio of 36.351. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions to reduce soft drink consumption and promote healthier lifestyle choices among adolescents to mitigate the adverse effects of obesity on health outcomes.
