Abstract

The main challenge faced by the City of Balikpapan is the disparity in facilities between sub-districts and the lack of optimal development of leading sectors that have the potential to support sustainable economic growth. Inequality in public facilities causes access to essential services, such as education, health, and the economy, to be unequal across city areas. This research aims to identify leading sectors in Balikpapan City and formulate development strategies focusing on sustainable economic growth, equitable distribution of public facilities, and strategic investment recommendations. The research uses quantitative descriptive methods with secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and related literature and analysis of Location Quotient (LQ), Shift Share, Klassen Typology, and Scalogram for the 2016-2022 period. The research results show that the processing industry, electricity and gas supply, and construction sectors are leading sectors with high competitiveness. However, there are disparities in public facilities, especially in North Balikpapan, which has more complete facilities than other sub-districts. These findings indicate the need for a development strategy that prioritizes the development of leading sectors, improving infrastructure, and increasing investment to achieve sustainable economic growth and a better quality of life for the community. The development strategy must focus on equal distribution of public facilities and strengthening leading sectors to make Balikpapan a more livable and economically competitive city

Abstract

Abstract

Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are a strategic sector in developing the economy. In addition, MSMEs are also a place for people to create jobs so that they can reduce poverty. This study aims to analyze the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in increasing Regional Original Income (PAD), with a case study of the trade and services sector around Semarang State University (UNNES) in 2025 and the importance of policy support and continuous mentoring for MSMEs so that economic potential can be increased in increasing PAD. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach and uses data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that MSMEs around UNNES have a significant influence on PAD through payment of levies, local taxes, and job creation. In addition, the relationship between the local government, the university, and MSME actors is also a very important factor in driving the economic growth of the region.

Abstract

Getaspejaten Village boasts a diverse local flora that can be used for industrial purposes by utilizing natural resources to create environmentally friendly products with economic value. This natural potential can be a business opportunity for local villagers. The variety of existing flora, such as leaves, can be utilized to create products with artistic and economic value. These products can be made using the ecoprint technique. Ecoprint is a dyeing technique using natural dyes applied to the fabric's surface. This ecoprint training is expected to enable the community to produce various ecoprint artworks using natural materials such as leaves and flowers in the surrounding environment. The ecoprint training activities are carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and completion. Based on this training, ecoprint scarves are produced with unique natural colors and motifs. The Natural Dyes (ZWA) are a mixture of sappanwood and tegeran, with different leaf variations to create unique and aesthetic motifs. Based on interviews, this training activity received more than 90% positive responses from 31 participants. The results of this community service demonstrate that the training has enhanced the community's creativity, knowledge, and skills in processing natural materials into works of art with aesthetic and economic value. Furthermore, effective marketing is expected to increase community income.
