Abstract

The high usage of synthetic insecticides for controlling Spodoptera litura could be detrimental to the environment, especially on non-target organisms. Therefore, more environmentally friendly pest management techniques should be used, for example, using a natural product such as chitosan. The objective of this study was to understand the effect of feeding inhibition by chitosan on the feeding activity of the third instar larvae of S. litura. The feeding inhibition test was carried out using the choice methods in a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments: i.e. chitosan 5×103, 15×103, 25×103, 35×103, 45×103 ppm and profenofos 0.18×103, 0.34×103 ppm, and one control treatment. The test of the choice methods was carried out by three larval laying positions: (1) between the control and treatment feeds (Position A), (2) above the treated feed (Position B), and (3) above the control feed (Position C), and were replicated three times. The non-choice test was done in a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments plus control and were replicated four times. The results showed that the chitosan in the concentration range of 5×103‒45×103 ppm reduced feeding by S. litura larvae by 2.587 to 34.974% in the choice method, and 11.610 to 50,712% in the non-choice method. This feeding inhibition increased significantly with the increment of chitosan concentration. However, the inhibition effects by chitosan was weaker than the inhibition by profenofos LC50 in both tests at a concentration of 0.34×103 ppm: 44.331% and 62.491% respectively. In conclusion, chitosan with a concentration of 45×103 ppm at all larval laying positions showed the highest value of feeding inhibition activity on the third instar larvae of S. litura compared to other chitosan concentrations in both methods.

Abstract

Leptocorisa sp. is a pest of rice plants that can reduce crop yields by up to 50%. The use of chemical pesticides is still the main choice in controlling Leptocorisa sp. However, excessive use of pesticides can be bad for the environment and humans. This study aims to determine the type and height of attractant traps that are effective in controlling Leptocorisa sp. on rice plants. The study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of two factors. Observations were made for seven days with four repetitions. The distance between the traps is 5 meters. The results showed that Leptocorisa sp. males and females preferred golden snail traps compared to other types of material traps, namely 4.0 males and 2.5 females at a height of 0 cm, while at a height of 20 cm, there were 3.8 males and 3.3 females. This shows that Leptocorisa sp. males prefer golden snail traps to females. Leptocorisa sp. eggs. The highest was found in the pineapple skin bait treatment at a trap height of 40 cm with an average of 12.3 eggs, while the lowest was found in the golden snail bait treatment at a height of 20 cm with an average of 5.3 eggs. There are four insect families apart from Leptocorisa sp. those interested in traps include Calliphoridae, Muscidae, Blattellidae, and Formicidae.

Abstract

The positive impact of chitosan has been widespread and has attracted interest from farmers with the pretext that it is safe for the environment. However, information on the adverse effects of using chitosan on plants still needs to be available. This study aims to discover the side effects of applying chitosan on the Brassica juncea. This test is done using Complete Random Design (CRD). The test is carried out by applying a solution of chitosan with five series of concentrations (0.5%, 1.5%, 2.5%, 3.5%, and 4.5%) plus control of acetic acid 1% (AA) to the upper and lower surfaces of the B. juncea leaves (old and young leaves) using a brush smooth to drip wet. The trial was repeated four times. Data was analyzed using ANOVA (Analisis of Variance). When there is a significant difference between the treatments, further tests are conducted using DMRT at a substantial level of 5%. In two week and three week B. juncea plant, the highest chlorophyll content is observed in the chitosan with a concentration of 3.5% and 0.5% with the same value of 0.74 mg/g, while the lowest concentration is at 1.5% 0.61 mg/g at the age of two weeks and 0.50 mg/g at three weeks. Using chitosan at high concentrations (2.5-4.5%) indicates phytotoxic occurrence in the leaves of two week or three week old B. juncea plants. Phytoxic indications are seen in rolling leaves, thickening, and structurally more hardinge when compared with low concentration (0.5% and 1.5%) and control treatments. It is best to pay attention to the use of concentrations of chitosan so that plants get optimal positive effects without causing adverse side effects.

Abstract

Improper waste handling is often the cause of environmental issues such as flooding and disease. Managing waste at the household level can significantly reduce environmental pollution. Currently, household organic waste is one of the largest contributors to overall waste. This activity aims to enhance housewives' skills and knowledge in composting household organic waste. It was conducted in Kapur Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, with training sessions for housewives' associations. The activity included both presentations and hands-on composting practice. Participants' understanding was assessed through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results show that all participants understood the process and intended to apply composting practices in their households, positively contributing to waste reduction efforts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop students' level of understanding in the context of learning about the five senses of science material through the use of Wordwall media as a tool to help interactive learning. This study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles and involving 24 fourth grade students at SDN 165/I Singkawang. Data were obtained by giving tests to participants and collecting documents relevant to the research topic. The findings of this research indicate a significant increase in students' level of understanding after the use of Wordwall media in learning. In the early phase (pre-cycle), the average student score reached 65.58 with a learning success percentage of 45.83%. After the implementation of the first cycle, the completion rate increased to 83.33%. In the second cycle, learning outcomes continued to show improvement with a completion rate of 91.67% and the highest score reaching 100. Wordwall, which is a digital-based learning media, has proven to be effective in supporting students in understanding difficult-to-understand science concepts, while creating a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere. This media provides a varied learning experience through various forms of educational games, thus increasing the enthusiasm and active involvement of students. This research recommends that teachers be more creative in utilizing educational technology for the achievement of optimal learning objectives.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi deep learning membuka peluang baru dalam pendidikan fisika untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran, terutama dalam memahami konsep abstrak melalui simulasi virtual. Namun, pemanfaatannya masih terbatas dan belum ada pemetaan secara komprehensif yang berfokus pada pendidikan fisika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tren penelitian terkait deep learning dalam pendidikan fisika selama satu dekade terakhir.  Metode analisis penelitian ini meliputi pertumbuhan publikasi dan sitasi tahunan, kontribusi penulis, afiliasi, dan negara, serta kata kunci dominan dan peluang topik penelitian. Prosedur penelitian ini dilakukan dengan analisis bibliometrik terhadap 90 dokumen terindeks scopus, dianalisis dengan Biblioshiny dan VOSviewer melalui tiga jenis visualisasi pada fitur co-occurence analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertumbuhan publikasi yang terus meningkat signifikan, mengalami puncak publikasi terbanyak pada tahun 2023,  dan kutipan terbesar pada tahun 2019, dengan rata-rata pertumbuhan tahunan mencapai 17,46%,  kontribusi afiliasi institusi dari Universitas Michigan, dan negara produktif dari Amerika Serikat. Kata kunci paling dominan meliputi deep learning, students, learning systems, dan artificial intelligence. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan tren arah penelitian menuju integrasi teknologi digital dan pedagogi inovatif, dengan peluang riset masa depan pada mobile learning, chat-gpt augmented reality, dan blended learning berbasis kecerdasan buatan.
