Abstract

Most of the residents of Tiku V Jorong Village, Agam District work as farmers and gardeners, whereas the women mostly are housewives. The training given to women community in Tiku V Jorong Village was the production of liquid dish soap. The selection of liquid dish soap products is based on the fact that consumption of dish soap is always needed by every household in their daily life. In addition, the process of making liquid dish soap is relatively easy and the process does not require many equipment, thus it can be done by women community in Tiku V Jorong Village on the sidelines of other daily activities.The liquid dish soap can be used for their daily needs or can be business opportunities for the village. The activity was carried out on November 26, 2022, which was attended by ± 25 women. The training began with the explanation about the materials and equipment used in making the liquid dish soap.  The main materials used were texapon, sodium sulfate, and sodium chloride. Foam booster, perfume, and dye were used as additive. Then, the practice is carried out jointly between the women community and the community service team from Politeknik ATI Padang, thus the women community can be able to make the liquid dish soap on their own. The training was closed with the presentation of business prospective from liquid dish soap. All of the participants were enthusiastic with this training. With this training, it can be expected that the women community in Tiku V Jorong Village have the knowledge and the skill to make their own liquid dish soap. Besides, it can be the new opportunity for business thus the local economy can be improved as well.

Abstract

Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) merupakan limbah perkebunan pengolahan kelapa sawit yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan secara luas. Salah satu pemanfaatan TKKS adalah sebagai bahan baku pembuatan bioethanol. Dalam peroses pembuatan bioethanol, TKKS harus melewati proses pre-treatment terlebih dahulu yang bertujuan untuk memecah lignoselulosa menjadi monomer gula. Proses pre-treatment dilakukan terhadap kandungan lignin, selulosa, dan hemiselulosa dengan menggunakan bantuan gelombang mikro (microwave). Pre-treatment dilakukan dengan penambahan aquadest dan daya microwave sebesar 400W. Perlakukan pre-treatment ini dilakukan dengan 5 variasi waktu yaitu 5”, 10”, 15”, 20”, dan 25”. Metode pre-treatment dengan penambahan gelombang mikro ini dinilai memberikan efek positif yaitu dapat meningkatkan kadar selulosa pada TKKS. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengujian kadar lignin, selulosa, dan hemiselulosa, serta uji kualitatif selulosa sebelum dan sesudah treatment menggunakan XRD. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa waktu yang baik dalam proses pre-treatment menggunakan microwave 400 W adalah dengan lama iradiasi 25 menit. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah selulosa 36.87 %, hemiselulosa 36.30 %, dan lignin sebesar 13.74 %.

Abstract

Payakumbuh City, is one of the centres of garlic production in West Sumatra. In the city, an industry has been established for the manufacture and marketing of health products, one of them is fermented garlic (black garlic). The lack of knowledge, technology, attention from the government and related parties is an obstacle for the community to develop this business. After this community service activity, it is hoped that they can improve and develop their black garlic product through packaging, labelling and digital marketing. The method of implementing this activity is done by providing material and demonstration of packaging, labelling and digital marketing of black garlic products. This activity was accompanied by instructors (lecturers) and continued with practice by participants. The output that has been achieved is that the community understands the technology of packaging and labelling of black garlic products which have added value in order to compete widely.

Abstract

Industri pangan merupakan salah satu industri yang berkembang pesat di Indonesia. Perkembangan industri haruslah diiringi dengan pengelolaan limbah yang baik agar tidak menimbulkan dampak bagi lingungan. Pabrik cincau menghasilkan limbah padat dan cair. Limbah padat pabrik cincau dapat diolah menjadi pupuk, sementara limbah cair pabrik cincau belum ditemukan pemanfaatannya. Sehingga diperlukan penelitian untuk mengurangi kadar polutan dalam limbah cair cincau agar sesuai dengan standar baku mutu limbah dan tidak mencemari lingkungan. Salah.satu parameter baku mutu limbah yang dapat dianalisa adalah COD (chemical oxygen demand). Tingginya nilai COD menunjukkan banyaknya kandungan zat organik dalam limbah cair. Nilai COD dapat diturunkan dengan beberapa metode, diantara metode penambahan karbon aktif dan metode aerasi. Pada penelitian ini diamati pengaruh penambahan karbon aktif seberat 25, 50, 75 dan 100 gram pada limbah cair cincau, serta pengaruh lama aerasi selama 1, 1,5 dan 2 jam. Nilai COD terendah didapatkan pada perlakuan penambahan karbon aktif seberat 100 gram yaitu 20,16 mg/L dan pada perlakuan aerasi selama 2 jam yaitu 20,24 mg/L. Semakin banyak karbon aktif yang ditambahkan ke dalam limbah cair cincau, semakin berkurang nilai COD. Semakin lama waktu aerasi, nilai COD semakin turun. Penambahan 100 gram karbon aktif atau perlakuan aerasi selama 2 jam pada 500 ml limbah cair cincau dapat menurunkan nilai COD sebesar 80%.
