Abstract

In this study, marketing techniques for MSMEs are examined, including the usage of influencers to support product brands. However, whether or not viral content is contentious, it will undoubtedly have an impact on MSMEs. The goal of this study was to ascertain the influence of virality, band orientation, and influencers on MSME product brands and how they affect these items. The results of this study indicate that the use of influencers as a marketing strategy can provide significant benefits for culinary MSMEs. Influencers can create virality that increases brand awareness, consumer perceptions regarding brand quality, brand preferences, and consumer purchase intentions. Therefore, culinary MSMEs can take advantage of the potential of influencers and virality as an effective way to increase their marketing success and business growth. This study uses a questionnaire as a research instrument with a Likert scale (5 scales). Respondents to this study were 115 culinary MSME actors who used social media in running their business. The findings of this study suggest that culinary MSMEs can profit significantly from using influencers as a marketing approach. Influencers can encourage virality, which raises consumer perceptions of brand quality, preferences for brands, and buy intentions. As a result, culinary MSMEs can effectively boost their marketing success and company growth by using the potential of influencers and virality. Abstract

Indonesia’s long-term development strategies emphasize the crucial role of agriculture in ensuring food security and promoting economic growth. This study examines how a rural area in South Sulawesi can enhance its economy and foster sustainable food production by leveraging its abundant agricultural resources, including strawberries and various vegetables. By integrating local food systems with tourism, the region can reduce food waste and create value-added products, such as strawberry jam, fruit peel flour, and canned vegetables, thereby supporting economic resilience and sustainability. Although local rural businesses often face challenges such as limited access to finance and technology, they can benefit from sustainable, green economy-focused practices. This research highlights the importance of incorporating agricultural by-products and eco-friendly products into agritourism to promote local prosperity while preserving the environment. Using a qualitative approach, the study explores how combining food systems and tourism can generate new income, promote a circular economy, and encourage the use of locally sourced, sustainable products. The findings suggest that this rural area could serve as a model for sustainable tourism, where local food production boosts both economic vitality and environmental stewardship.

Abstract

This study examines when and how viral marketing and social proof shape purchase intention in social commerce, and whether Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) mediates these effects. Drawing on Social Influence Theory, we model viral marketing and social proof as antecedents, FOMO as a mediator, and purchase intention as the outcome. Data were collected from 231 active social commerce users in Indonesia and analyzed using variance-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The measurement model met accepted criteria for reliability and convergent validity. The structural results show that viral marketing exerts a positive and significant direct effect on purchase intention while also increasing FOMO. Social proof significantly elevates FOMO but does not directly influence purchase intention, indicating that endorsement cues operate primarily through affective urgency rather than as stand-alone drivers. FOMO has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention and mediates the paths from both viral marketing and social proof to purchase intention, implying partial mediation for viral marketing and full mediation for social proof. These findings advance theory by integrating normative and informational influence with an affective mechanism central to the attention economy. Managerially, they suggest prioritizing diffusion design and credible validation cues that ethically heighten urgency, while monitoring authenticity and overload to prevent reactance.
