Abstract

This study aims to assess the current views of the Jepara community towards sharia banking products, as well as the factors that influence these perceptions. This thesis was prepared using descriptive-qualitative research methods. A study of citizens' perceptions shows that sharia banking products are considered easy to use, cost-effective, and convenient. They appreciate the availability of ATM cards and BSI banking facilities for transactions anytime and anywhere. For interbank transfers, the administration fee is cheap—only 2,500. Sharia People's Economic Bank (SPEB) products are not subject to any administration fees or deductions, thus ensuring security, reliability, and compliance with Islamic principles. Factors that influence public perception of sharia banking products include understanding determinants, motivation factors, size factors, and movement factors. These factors have contributed to the perception that people are reluctant to use Islamic banks due to a lack of understanding of banking products. Compliance with Sharia is now very minimal.

Abstract

Buy now pay later (BNPL) services in banking are increasingly popular among Indonesians. Studies show that a good understanding of finances is essential for financial decision-making. There are not many studies that discuss how students use paylater services. There is not much research on how the relationship between financial literacy and lifestyle can affect paylater usage behavior. This quantitative research involved 394 active students at the Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic University (UNISNU) Jepara, who were selected by purposive sampling method. Data was collected using questionnaire tools that were disseminated through Google Forms. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), assisted by Smart-PLS 4.0 software, is used to analyze the data. The results show that lifestyle and the use of paylater services positively and significantly affect students' financial behavior. However, this study shows that the financial literacy of UNISNU Jepara students does not have a significant influence on their financial behavior; On the other hand, lifestyle and the use of payment services have a significant effect. It shows that more than just financial literacy, consumption patterns, and ease of access to financial technology influence financial behavior. This study will help educational institutions and financial service providers to place more emphasis on developing healthy financial habits as well as help students become more responsible and better at making financial decisions

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of city government transparency in Central and Eastern Indonesia over the period 2019–2023, focusing on four variables: government size, quality of financial reporting, administrative responsiveness, and political environment. Using ordinal logistic regression on secondary data from 21 city governments (105 observations), the findings reveal that government size has a positive and significant effect on city government transparency (β = 0.725, p = 0.002), indicating that larger governments with greater institutional capacity are more likely to achieve higher levels of transparency. In contrast, financial reporting quality (p = 0.713), administrative responsiveness (p = 0.404), and political environment (p = 0.757) do not exert statistically significant effects on transparency. These results imply that city government transparency in Central and Eastern Indonesia is driven more by structural and institutional capacity than by administrative performance or political conditions. The originality of this study lies in its focus on the underexplored context of Central and Eastern Indonesian cities using ordinal logistic regression to capture hierarchical variation in transparency levels, demonstrating that institutional capacity—not administrative compliance or political dynamics—is the primary determinant of public information disclosure in resource-constrained regions. Policymakers should prioritize strengthening institutional capacity, human resource development, and digital infrastructure to enhance transparency at the local government level.
