Abstract

Abstract

From 2020 to 2022, Sidoarjo Regency has identified a surge in family conflicts triggered by wives' protests. Evidence includes an increase in divorce filings, child neglect, and internal family conflicts due to frustration. Therefore, it is necessary to educate the community through outreach activities on building family resilience, emphasizing the role of the wife in the family. Islamic family law based on maqasid al-Shari'ah was chosen as the outreach material because it is relevant and more acceptable to the wives in Sidoarjo Regency, the majority of whom are Muslims. The organized young mothers of Fatayat NU were selected as the target audience. The service method used was service learning, an approach that combines academic teaching with finding appropriate problem-solving solutions for the community. The results of this community service showed an increase in understanding among the young mothers of Fatayat NU in Sidoarjo Regency about strategies for building family resilience through the role of the wife post-pandemic, based on the concept of Islamic family law rooted in maqasid al-Shari'ah.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the advantages, disadvantages, and ideal picture of superior schools and acceleration programs. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with literature study. The results of the theoretical review present concepts and definitions of excellent schools and acceleration programs. The advantages of excellent schools include a quality learning environment, skilled teachers, and a curriculum focused on critical skills. Disadvantages of excellent schools include high competition and lack of involvement in non-academic aspects. The strengths of accelerated programs are that the academic challenges match the abilities of gifted and bright students. Disadvantages of accelerated programs include social and emotional gaps and a lack of focus on non-academic skills. The ideal picture of excellent schools and accelerated programs includes a balanced approach between academic and non-academic needs, emotional and social support for students, and flexibility in the curriculum. In conjunction with the curriculum reform in Curriculum 2013 (K13), a school policy with an SKS (Satuan Kredit Semester) system was created that emphasizes students' independent and collaborative learning abilities based on Independent Learning Activity Units (UKBM).

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on population dynamics to improve the problem-solving skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 28 Surabaya. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with social studies teachers and eighth-grade students as subjects. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and learning assessments. The results showed that the application of the PBL model was able to increase student engagement in the learning process, develop critical thinking skills, and help students find solutions to contextual population problems. PBL implementation was carried out through five stages: problem orientation, student organization, group investigation, presentation of results, and evaluation of the problem-solving process. Supporting factors for implementation included the use of the contextual problem 'Surabaya 2045,' heterogeneous group work, and problem-solving-based student worksheets (LKPD). Challenges encountered included limited discussion time and differences in student participation levels. This study demonstrates that the PBL model is effective in social studies learning, particularly population dynamics, to improve students' problem-solving skills.
