Abstract

The well-being of students in the pursuit of knowledge is a multidimensional issue encompassing spiritual, academic, psychological, social, physical, and economic aspects. In Islamic education, this well-being is not solely determined by worldly factors but emphasizes a balance with spiritual and eschatological values. This study aims to reconceptualize Islamic student well-being through a thematic analysis of tarbawi (educational) hadiths. Employing a qualitative method with a library-based research design, data were analyzed from primary and secondary sources related to educational hadiths and Islamic well-being. The findings reveal that tarbawi hadiths contain integral principles of well-being, structured into six key dimensions: spiritual, academic, psychological, social, physical, and economic. These insights offer a new conceptual framework for understanding student well-being within a holistic Islamic educational paradigm.

Abstract

Matan criticism, a vital component of hadith studies, distinguishes authentic narrations by evaluating hadith content for logical coherence, Quranic consistency, and alignment with Sharia principles. This study employs a descriptive-analytical literature review to explain and illustrate matan criticism, emphasizing its necessity in preserving Islamic teachings, especially when addressing anomalous (syadz) or contradictory hadiths.

Abstract

One of the serious considerations in Islam pertains to the position of men and women. Islam highly values the worth of women. Gender equality is an essential topic to ensure that individuals, regardless of their gender, have equal opportunities, rights, and responsibilities in all aspects of life, while eliminating discrimination, violence, and harassment against women. Therefore, further discourse is necessary to rectify misconceptions. This research aims to explore the positions of both genders. It emphasizes that men and women share the same human status, having been created from the same substance, as ordained by God. The study employs qualitative research, specifically a literature review using relevant journals, books, and articles related to this topic.

Abstract

Tawāzun, or balance, is a core principle in Islamic education, emphasizing equilibrium between worldly and afterlife pursuits. In the Qur’an Hadith textbook for Grade VIII Madrasah Tsanawiyah, published by Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (2020), two hadiths on tawāzun serve as foundational tools for fostering students' balanced spiritual and social character. This study conducts takhrīj on these hadiths using a library research approach and sanad-matn analysis to trace their origins, authenticity, and embedded Islamic educational values. Findings reveal that both hadiths originate from authoritative sources in the kutub al-tis‘ah, particularly Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim and Sunan al-Nasā’ī. The first hadith (the Prophet’s supplication for the rectification of religion, worldly life, and the hereafter), narrated from Abū Hurairah, has a continuous (muttaṣil) sanad with all thiqah narrators, rendering it ṣaḥīḥ li-dhātihi. The second hadith (the parable of the world likened to water on a finger dipped in the sea), narrated from Mustawrid, is transmitted through five reinforcing chains, also deemed ṣaḥīḥ despite minor non-impactful textual variants. The hadiths convey key Islamic educational values, including moderation, responsibility, physical-spiritual harmony, and holistic awareness of life’s purpose. They are highly relevant for Islamic character education in madrasahs, fostering balanced, optimistic, and hereafter-oriented attitudes amid contemporary challenges of modernization and hedonism. This research fills a gap in takhrīj studies on madrasah textbooks and strengthens the validity of Islamic religious education materials in Indonesia.
