Abstract

People with HIV/AIDS not only need medication to reduce physical discomfort, but also need social support to overcome psychological anxiety and restlessness. Social support is critical in maintaining good physical and mental health. This study aims to analyze the social support status of women with HIV/AIDS and explore other factors that affect their quality of life in Kecamatan Patrang, Kabupaten Jember. The research method used was cross-sectional with convenience sampling and data collection through questionnaires with SSRS (Social Support Rating Scale) within three months from March to May 2025, with a sample of 92 women with HIV/AIDS. It is known that there is a significant relationship between emotional support (p = 0.01) and assessment support (p = 0.03), as well as other factors such as the duration of ARV therapy (p = 0.03), with the quality of life of women with HIV/AIDS. These findings are expected to provide a basis for interventions, including the formation of peer-support groups, counseling programs focused on strengthening self-esteem, and training for families and communities to provide appreciation and respect to women with HIV/AIDS, which ultimately improves their health and quality of life.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances are common in third-trimester pregnancy due to discomfort and anxiety, potentially harming maternal and fetal health. This study aims to determine if prenatal yoga improves sleep quality. A case study was conducted on a pregnant woman in the third trimester in Surabaya from January to April 2025. Data were collected using interviews, observations, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before and after intervention. Prenatal yoga was delivered 4 times over 1 month, lasting 30-60 minutes per session. Results showed a decrease in PSQI score from 16 (poor) to 5 (good) after yoga. It is concluded that prenatal yoga improves sleep quality through relaxation and flexibility. Regular prenatal yoga is recommended to maintain fitness and rest before delivery.

Abstract

The postpartum period is frequently associated with pain caused by uterine contractions, perineal trauma, or cesarean wounds, which may limit mobilization and negatively affect physical and psychological recovery. Non-pharmacological approaches such as Lavandula angustifolia aromatherapy are increasingly explored because they are simple, safe, and have minimal side effects. This narrative literature review analyzed studies published between 2020 and 2025 retrieved from Google Scholar focusing on lavender aromatherapy interventions for postpartum mothers. Evidence indicates that active compounds including linalool and linalyl acetate provide sedative and analgesic effects by stimulating the limbic system and enhancing endorphin release. Inhaled lavender aroma was consistently associated with reduced pain intensity in mothers experiencing perineal pain and post-cesarean discomfort. Overall, lavender aromatherapy appears to be an effective complementary therapy that promotes relaxation, improves comfort, supports emotional well-being, and facilitates a smoother postpartum recovery process for mothers.

Abstract

Introduction. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum and remains a global health problem with a significant increase in prevalence. Adolescents are vulnerable to syphilis because they lack sufficient sexual health information and services. This study aims to explore the role of cellular immune response in the pathogenesis of syphilis in adolescents and the factors that influence it. Methods. This research study adopted a systematic literature review methodology, sourcing data from PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. Results. The results demonstrate a crucial involvement of macrophages, dendritic cells, and T lymphocytes in the cellular immune response against Treponema pallidum causes Syphilis. The immune response is principally influenced by variables such as age, nutritional status, and the presence of HIV infection. High infection rates are also attributable to factors such as risky sexual behaviour and socioeconomic conditions. Enhanced interventions, including comprehensive sexual health education and improved access to healthcare services, are crucial for mitigating the adverse effects of syphilis in adolescents. Conclusion. In conclusion, this research underscores the necessity of a deeper understanding of the immunopathogenic mechanisms of syphilis in adolescents to facilitate the development of more effective preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic strategies.

Abstract

Maternal and neonatal morbidity remains a critical challenge in Indonesia, particularly within the Pasean Community Health Center area in Pamekasan. Key contributing factors include limited community-based education, poor knowledge of nutrition and pregnancy danger signs, and suboptimal health cadre capacity. This community service initiative aims to enhance knowledge, empower cadres through proactive education, and reduce morbidity via early detection. The intervention involves the PELEM MANIS (Proactive Learning and Management for Mom and Kids) booklet. Activities were conducted using a hybrid model (online and face-to-face) encompassing lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Program effectiveness was evaluated through pre- and post-tests to measure knowledge, while awareness was assessed via K6 maternal coverage. Results demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge and awareness among pregnant women, parents, and health cadres regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and neonatal care. This improvement is evidenced by higher post-test scores. The innovative booklet proved effective and relevant in helping stakeholders identify and manage emergencies throughout the maternal and neonatal periods.
