Abstract

A distance is a number that indicates how far apart two place are. The benefits of using distance are widely used in research, one of which is in the application of spatial weighting matrices. The spatial weight matrix is obtained based on proximity information between regions. There are two types of spatial weights, namely, based on contiguity and distance. Determining the proximity of regions in West Sumatra is better to use spatial weighting based on distance because in West Sumatra there are islands and mountains that limit the regions. Some distance estimation equations that can be utilized are Haversine and Euclidean distance. The connection between the two points in Haversine takes into account the earth's curvature when calculating the distance, which is a difference between the two formulas. In contrast, the Euclidean distance method uses a straight line to connect two points. The purpose of this research is to ascertain whether the Haversine and Euclidean distance formulas produce significantly different results in terms of distance. Calculation of the coordinate point distance utilizes latitude and longitude obtained from Google Maps. The distances measured using both formulas were expressed as kilometers (km), then the data was processed using the z test. The findings demonstrated that the Haversine formula and the Euclidean distance formula did not significantly differ in the process of calculating distance.

Abstract

Nowadays, education has many challenges along with the development of the times, cultural diversity, financial competition and technological developments, so that it will affect the education system and needs that must be provided to students, especially for students in Early Childhood Education (PAUD). PAUD with good quality can provide benefits in the short and long term for the life of the child. Therefore, the quality of PAUD provision must still be improved in line with increased access, among others by standardizing PAUD services. The implementation of this program evaluation is expected to produce an appropriate assessment of the implementation of the ECD program regarding the strengths and weaknesses in its implementation. The method used in this study is a program evaluation of the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process and Product). This research was conducted at Kober Melati Putih PKBM Bina Cipta Ujungberung, the results of the program evaluation at this PAUD show that the implementation of PAUD programs at PKBM Bina Cipta Ujungberung is running well and meets almost all PAUD reference standards.

Abstract

The smart city concept arose as a solution to urban challenges, aiming to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of urban planning. The smart city concept aims to address issues such as delayed public services, inflexible service procedures, and inefficiency through the use of smart governance. This study examines the implementation of smart cities in the context of smart governance in Indonesia. Its objective is to determine the level of smart governance implementation in Indonesia and its implications for supporting smart cities in the country. The research employed a descriptive qualitative methodology. The research employs a data gathering method that relies on secondary sources, including scholarly journals and online mass media, spanning from 2017 to 2024. This time frame aligns with the research focus on smart governance in Indonesia. The news sources utilized consisted of six major mass media outlets, with a news coverage level of 59 units of news intensity. The data analysis employed a three-stage process, consisting of data reduction, data display, and generating conclusions. This study employs Qualitative Data Analysis Software (QDAS) utilizing the Nvivo 12 plus tools. This study use data source triangulation methods to acquire systematic, factual, and precise data. The findings of this study indicate that the implementation of smart governance in Indonesia's smart city initiatives has not been entirely successful. The indicators of smart governance implementation have not been fully met, and there are still unresolved issues that require correction and improvement.

Abstract

The debate over whether morality is innate (nature) or the result of learning and environment (nurture) is a fundamental discourse in the history of human thought. This article aims to critically and comparatively analyze the views of Islamic and Western thought on the nature of morality. Three main questions are the focus of this study: (1) Is morality permanent, or can it be changed through training?; (2) How are moral laws determined, based on intention or consequence?; and (3) What is the primary source of moral requirements?. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a library research method. Data were collected through documentation techniques from various primary and secondary sources, including books, scientific journals, and relevant philosophical works. The collected data was then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive analysis model, which includes three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusions. This study reveals that in Islamic thought, morality is viewed as an innate potential that can be shaped and refined through education and self-improvement. Moral judgment is centred on intention (niyyah), with reason and revelation as sources of ethics that work synergistically. Conversely, Western thought tends to debate the fixed or changeable nature of morality, emphasizing the consequences of actions as a moral standard. Within the framework of ethics, rationality and social responsibility are the main foundations for formulating moral standards.

Abstract

Mangroves provide many benefits for the environment and humans. Overexploitation will damage mangrove plants so that it will reduce the benefits of mangroves. Mangrove plant inventory can provide information on the diversity and composition of mangroves in Balikpapan Bay and Mahakam Delta as a database for mangrove monitoring. This study was conducted to study the diversity and comparison of mangrove plant composition in Balikpapan Bay and Mahakam Delta, East Kalimantan. Sampling is carried out by tracing the waterway with the purposive sampling method. The samples were dried into dried herbarium specimens and identified at the Plant Systematics Laboratory, Faculty of Biology UGM. The identification work was completed with descriptions and artificial identification keys then continued with a comparative analysis of the composition using the Sorensen Similarity Index. The results of research conducted showed that there are 44 species belonging to 15 orders, 25 families, and 35 genera. Balikpapan Bay shows higher mangrove diversity, with 32 species, compared to Mahakam Delta, with 24 species. The most common genera are Avicennia, Bruguiera, Ceriops, Rhizophora, Sonneratia, and Xylocarpus. The species composition of mangroves between Mahakam Delta and Balikpapan Bay shows a low level of similarity, with a similarity value of 40.67%.

Abstract

Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the eradication of Criminal Acts of Human Traffcking (UU TPPO) regulates criminal acts ivolving human trafficking as a means of livelihood. The problems in this research are 1) Does the application of the provisions of Article 296 of the criminal code Article 2 of the TPPO law to perpetrators of criminal acts of human trafficking carried out as a means of livelihood in Decision Number 465/Pid.Sus/2021/PN.Ktp already in accordance with the purpose of the punishment? This research uses a normative research type with secondary data and is descriptive analytical in nature. Data analysis wa carried out qualitatively by drawing conclusions deduktively. The results and conclusions of this research are that the panel of judges wa inappropriate in using the provisions of Article 296 of the Criminal Code as a basis for consideration and decision for the criminal acts of human trafficking committed by the perperator. Furthermore, the punishment given to perpetrators of criminal acts of human trafficking which is carried out as a means of livelihood is not in accordane with the theories of punishment and criminal objectives, namely Reformation, Restraint, Retribution and Detterence (3R and 1D).

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a disease of pregnant women, causing many complaints, including dizziness. Massage is the right solution to reduce dizziness since the use of analgesic drugs is not recommended. Submission of massage information can be more effective through digital technology. The purpose of this research is to build an application based on Augmented Reality (AR) as a guide for facial massage movements for midwives and pregnant women to deal with complaints of dizziness for pregnant women. The method used is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), which consists of the stages of making a concept, making a design, collecting materials, combining materials, testing, and distribution. Black box testing on 10 scenarios produces a value of 100%, which means the application can run properly. In addition, usability testing using the System Usabilities Scale (SUS) method shows a value of 69.5, which means that the application has the "good" criteria and is acceptable to users.
