Abstract

Improving employee relations for a better organizational climate can be approached in many ways, including by focusing on those who choose to leave the organization for various reasons. One way is conducting exit interview – an exchange of information between a representative of an organization and an employee who is leaving the organization. When conducted properly, it can serve as useful tools for improving people and the organization, as well as turnover reduction and retention tactic. Hence, it should be implemented as a part of the overall human resources management process. However exit interview is questionable in many situations. It is because exiting employees are reluctant to reveal their personal information and feeling, known as self-disclosure. In this research, semi-structure interviews are conducted to former employees of an organization on their experience in participating in exit interviews. The quality and texture of self-disclosure process experienced by each individual is captured through interpretative phenomenology analysis. Findings of this qualitative research identify themes disclosed by these former employees in their exit interviews and the process they experienced. It is hope that this research would contribute to better understanding on exit interviews and on how to improve employee relationship and organizational climate.

Abstract

Sekitar 10 juta anak dan remaja tidak berprestasi optimal akibat kecemasan tinggi terhadap tes. Apabila tidak diatasi, hal ini bisa jadi ganjalan sepanjang bersekolah dan mempengaruhi akses pendidikan dan pekerjaan. Maka intervensi kecemasan terhadap tes menjadi penting dalam psikologi pendidikan. Tulisan ini meneliti efektivitas intervensi terintegrasi terhadap kecemasan terhadap tes. Intervensi 12 sesi ini terdiri dari systematic desensitization, keterampilan belajar dan keterampilan mengerjakan tes untuk satu orang subyek yaitu siswi kelas V SD; edukasi instruksi yang menenangkan untuk orang tua dan edukasi instruksi berorientasi pada tugas untuk guru. Penelitian ini menggunakan single-subject multifactor baseline (A-B) design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan intervensi terintegrasi efektif menurunkan kecemasan terhadap tes. Penelitian ini menyarankan penelitian lanjutan tentang hubungan tingkat inteligensi, kemampuan metakognisi dengan kecemasan terhadap tes, serta perbandingan efektivitas intervensi terintegrasi untuk kelompok umur berbeda. Selain itu, perlu ada penelitian yang membandingkan efektivitas intervensi terintegrasi - yaitu intervensi untuk subyek dengan melibatkan orang tua dan guru – dengan intervensi yang khusus ditujukan pada subyek tanpa melibatkan orang tua atau guru. Penelitian ini juga menyarankan kajian lanjutan tentang intervensi kecemasan terhadap tes untuk orang tua serta guru. Around 10 million children and adolescents are hindered from their optimum achievements due to high test anxiety. When left untreated, it can serve as an obstacle throughout their school years and impact their access to education and work. Hence intervention to test anxiety is key in educational psychology. This writing examines the effectiveness of integrated intervention to test anxiety. This 12-session intervention comprises of systematic desensitization, study skills and test taking skills to one subject, one student in her 5th grade of elementary school, reassuring instruction education for her parents and task-oriented education for her teachers. This research uses single-subject multifactor baseline (A-B) design. The result shows that this integrative intervention is effective in decreasing test anxiety. It recommends further research to examine the relationship between intelligence and metacognition capacity to test anxiety as well as its effectiveness to different age group. Furthermore, a follow-up research to compare the effectiveness of integrated intervention involving parents and teachers and one that targets subject-only, as well as parents-only and teachers-only.

Abstract

Selfie is a self-generated, self-selected picture to communicate the transitory message about oneself at a particular moment in time taken to be immediately distributed to others via social media networks. For adolescents, selfie becomes an online tool to explore and discover their identity throughout identity formation phase. Article aimed to address its purpose of describing the reasons why adolescents took selfies, what selfie mean to them and the meaning of others' responses on their selfies. Through textual analysis conducted upon written answers in a course exercise provided by 40 first semester students aged 18-20 years who participate in Introduction to Communication Technology course in Pembangunan Jaya University. This preliminary qualitative research concludes that they take the selfie as an activity done in their spare time to express themselves and to record memorable moments. For them, selfie means as their means for self-expression and as mementos. Others’ responses to their selfies gave them the affective feeling of approval. As these findings resonate with identity formation in adolescence, the theoretical implication is the need to continue exploring selfie as a means for the search of the identity. The practical implication of these findings is to use selfie and its future consequences with adolescence, including the issues of online safety and privacy.

Abstract

Pada tanggal 15 Maret 2011, sebuah bom yang direkatkan dalam sebuah buku diterima oleh Kantor Berita 68H kemudian meledak, menyebabkan cedera parah pada petugas kepolisian yang sedang bertugas. Meskipun demikian, para jurnalis terus bekerja dan menyuarakan dukungan mereka atas kebebasan berekspresi. Resiliensi yakni adaptasi yang berhasil dalam mengatasi tantangan, tampak pada bagaimana jurnalis 68H berhasil “melenting kembali.” Bagi jurnalis yang bekerja di Indonesia, yakni satu dari lima negara yang paling mematikan di tahun 2010 menurut Committee to Protect Journalists, resiliensi menjadi penting untuk dipelajari. Menggunakan wawancara semi-terstruktur dan perspektif ‘resiliensi sebagai proses’, penelitian ini menggambarkan bagaimana jurnalis 68H menjalankan proses tersebut, sumber daya yang mereka gunakan serta konsekuensi pada kemampuan mereka untuk mempertahankan resiliensi di masa mendatang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penguatan kelompok dan peningkatan kapasitas penting dalam tahap-tahap proses resiliensi mereka. Disimpulkan bahwa identitas kolektif dan kepemimpinan dalam mempresepsikan ‘kita’ versus ‘mereka’ dan dalam mempromosikan nilai-nilai yang penting bagi mereka juga dukungan sosial serta pengalaman keberhasilan bersama di masa lalu, merupakan sumber-sumber daya utama resiliensi. Hikmah ajar dari kekeliruan menimbang ancaman berkontribusi pada perubahan sikap dan peningkatan keamanan demi mempertahankan resiliensi di masa mendatang

Abstract

Keluarga yang tinggal di lingkungan kota (urban family) menghadapi berbagai tantangan, sekaligus mempunyai berbagai peluang dalam mengasuh dan mendidik anak. Pengasuhan merupakan proses kompleks di mana karakteristik unik orang tua dan anak serta lingkungan di mana mereka berinteraksi akan mempengaruhi satu sama lain. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendapatkan gambaran mengenai aktivitas pengasuhan anak pada keluarga urban yang tinggal di sekitar Ruang Publik Terpadu Ramah Anak (RPTRA) Anggrek, kelurahan Bintaro, kecamatan Pesanggrahan, Jakarta Selatan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus yang melibatkan 26 partisipan (13 ayah dan 13 ibu) serta 5 orang staf pengelola RPTRA Anggrek Bintaro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesenjangan yang cukup lebar antara keterampilan, kemampuan orang tua dalam mengasuh dan mendidik anak, pola asuh yang diterapkan di rumah, aspirasi/harapan ideal orang tua terhadap anak, tantangan dan hambatan yang dihadapi orang tua serta sumber daya dan kapasitas yang dimiliki keluarga dalam proses mengasuh dan mendidik anak. Dalam situasi tersebut, responden penelitian (orang tua) yang berdomisili di sekitar wilayah RPTRA Anggrek Bintaro mengakses, memanfaatkan dan menggunakan fasilitas yang tersedia dan berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan-kegiatan yang diselenggarakan di RPTRA Anggrek, Bintaro. Pemanfaatan RPTRA Anggrek sangat beragam untuk mendidik dan mengasuh anak, mulai untuk kegiatan rekreasional, olahraga, hiburan, sosialisasi/interaksi antar warga, edukasi, pertunjukan kesenian, pelatihan vokasional, pendidikan anak, pengasuhan anak, sampai untuk mendapatkan layanan kesehatan.Kata kunci: Ruang Publik Terpadu Ramah Anak (RPTRA), Pengasuhan, Psikologi Perkotaan

Abstract

The background of this community service conducted by Department of Psychology Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (PSI UPJ) and Jaya Raya Badminton Club (PB Jaya Raya) is as follow. For optimum achievement, athletes should have excellent physical, technical and psychological skills. This applies as well in badminton, since this sport requires training as early as in adolescence. The objective of this counselling for athlete program is to develop nine mental skills, comprising from attitude to concentration. Method used is action research - from focus group discussion, interviews, group counselling, observation during competition and individual counselling. This activity involves technical and physical coaches, teachers, boarding school manager and 12-18 years-old male and female athlete from single, double and mixed-double categories; as well as lectures and students. This collaboration is made possible under the Memorandum of Understanding between two institutions - both are part of the family of Pembangunan Jaya Group. From March to September 2017, this community service results in a counselling program, 3 articles of Info Bintaro and Buletin Konsorsium Psikologi Ilmiah Nusantara electronic media, 1 publication in Widyakala UPJ journal of Vol 4 No 1 2017 and 1 Counselling for Athletes Module as ISBN-registered book publication and copyrights.

Abstract

Gen Z is widely portrayed as a generation that seeks meaning and personal fulfillment in their work. But does this truly stem from genuine passion—or from internal and social pressures? This study investigates Gen Z’s work motivation by comparing two forms of work passion: harmonious and obsessive. Using data from 422 Gen Z employees across Indonesia, collected via online surveys, a paired sample t-test revealed that respondents reported significantly higher levels of harmonious passion (M = 26.22, SD = 4.80) compared to obsessive passion (M = 21.45, SD = 5.14), t(421) = 22.77, p < .001, with a large effect size (d = 1.11). These findings suggest that Gen Z is more likely to pursue work as a self-directed, meaningful endeavor rather than one driven by pressure or identity attachment. The study offers a timely reflection for Gen Z on the nature of their work engagement and provides organizations with practical insights on how to attract and retain passionate young talent. This research contributes to the broader discourse on generational work values and highlights the importance of fostering authentic motivation in the emerging workforce.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan psikoedukasi kepada siswa SMA/K untuk mendukung pencapaian tugas perkembangan remaja, khususnya dalam membangun orientasi masa depan. Kegiatan berlangsung sepanjang Januari–Desember 2024 di 12 SMA/K/MA almamater mahasiswa Universitas Pembangunan Jaya yang mengambil mata kuliah Psikologi Pendidikan. Metode terdiri dari delapan tahap yang dikelompokkan ke dalam tiga alur utama: tahap persiapan (integrasi pengajaran-pengabdian, pembekalan mahasiswa, koordinasi sekolah), pelaksanaan (produksi poster tematik, penayangan di majalah dinding, pendampingan siswa), dan evaluasi (monitoring pembaca, refleksi guru, dokumentasi luaran). Hasil menunjukkan 10.232 siswa dan 528 guru mengakses poster sebagai pembaca, dengan data kuantitatif dari survey menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terkait perencanaan masa depan dan kesehatan mental. Data kuantiatif melalui wawancara dengan perwakilan guru mulai mengadaptasi materi psikoedukatif dalam bimbingan, sementara mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan kompetensi praktik edukatif. Dampak kegiatan meliputi peningkatan kesadaran reflektif siswa, pemberdayaan guru dalam konseling, dan pengalaman riil mahasiswa dalam intervensi berbasis sekolah. Luaran berupa 1 artikel media massa di Buletin Konsorsium Psikologi Ilmiah Nusantara, 1 naskah book chapter dan dokumentasi audio visual untuk konten Youtube. Kegiatan ini direkomendasikan untuk diperluas menggunakan media digital guna menjangkau audiens lebih luas secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Abstract. Generation Z has become a dominant force in today’s workforce, yet many organizations still lack a full understanding of this generation’s values and expectations. Gen Z seeks work experiences that are meaningful, empowering, and offer space for personal growth. Psychological empowerment consists of four dimensions: meaning, competence, self-determination, and impact. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey design involving 465 Gen Z employees from various industrial sectors in Indonesia, aiming to identify the most prominent dimensions of psychological empowerment within this group. The analysis revealed significant differences (p  < 0.001) among the four dimensions, with competence and meaning emerging as the highest-rated, while self-determination and impact were rated the lowest. These findings indicate that although Gen Z employees are confident in their competence and find their work meaningful, they often do not feel autonomous or perceive that their contributions make a real impact on the organization. Therefore, it is essential for organizations not only to support competence but also to provide space for autonomy and recognize employees’ contributions. At the same time, Gen Z can also develop the ability to articulate their work preferences constructively. Abstrak. Generasi Z merupakan kekuatan dominan di dunia kerja, namun banyak organisasi belum sepenuhnya memahami nilai dan ekspektasi generasi ini. Gen Z mendambakan pengalaman kerja yang bermakna, memberdayakan, dan memberi ruang untuk berkembang. Pemberdayaan psikologis terdiri atas empat dimensi: makna, kompetensi, determinasi diri, dan dampak. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain survei terhadap 465 pegawai Gen Z di berbagai sektor industri di Indonesia, dan bertujuan mengidentifikasi dimensi pemberdayaan psikologis yang paling menonjol pada kelompok ini. Hasil analisis menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p < 0.001) antar dimensi, dengan kompetensi sebagai dimensi tertinggi, disusul oleh makna, sementara determinasi diri dan dampak merupakan dimensi dengan skor terendah.Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun pegawai Gen Z percaya diri dengan kompetensinya dan menjalankan pekerjaan yang bermakna, mereka belum merasa memiliki ruang otonomi maupun dampak nyata terhadap organisasi. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi organisasi untuk tidak hanya mendukung kompetensi, tetapi juga menciptakan ruang bagi otonomi serta memberikan pengakuan atas kontribusi mereka. Di sisi lain, Gen Z juga perlu mengembangkan kemampuan artikulatif untuk mengekspresikan preferensi cara kerja secara konstruktif.
