Abstract

This research examines the Islamic dakwah expansion strategies implemented by the Umayyad Dynasty, focusing on the conquests of North Africa and Spain as case studies. The Umayyad Dynasty not only expanded political power but also spread Islamic teachings to various nations and cultures. Employing a descriptive historical method, this study analyzes how factors such as military strength, centralized administration, and cultural acculturation contributed to the success of dakwah expansion. The main findings reveal that the Umayyad dakwah expansion involved a complex interplay of conquest, cultural adaptation, and the construction of infrastructure that supported the spread of Islam. In conclusion, the Umayyad Dynasty's expansion strategies laid the foundation for a broader and more diverse development of Islamic civilization.

Abstract

The problem of coconut husks and shells that are not utilized was that they are usually discarded as waste, so further processing was needed to overcome this. This study aims to manufacture and test the performance of a young coconut waste shredder. The research methods include machine construction, performance testing, and analysis of test results. The independent variables tested were rotational speed and number of test material cuts. The rotational speed was varied to 1,400 rpm, 1,750 rpm, and 2,333 rpm, while the number of cuts was varied to 4, 6, and 8 cuts. The data obtained were analyzed using a completely randomized design with an F-test. The shredder machine was constructed using a 1 HP electric motor drive, a V-belt transmission system, a shredding chamber diameter of 400 mm, a shredding chamber height of 150 mm, and is equipped with 4 shredding blades. The test results showed the highest chipping capacity of 77.56 kg/hour obtained at a speed of 1,750 rpm and 8 pieces, while the finest chipping results with a chipping length of 4.214 mm and a chipping width of 1.271 mm were obtained at a speed of 2,333 rpm and 8 pieces. Based on the analysis results, the rotation speed had a significant effect on the chopping capacity, while the number of cuts had no significant effect on the chopping capacity. Other analysis results showed that the rotation speed and number of cuts had a very significant effect on the chopping results.

Abstract

This study focuses on the urgency of developing the competence of cultural tour guides at the Karo Traditional House Garista, located in Medan Selayang, in response to the increasing demand for the educational tourism sector. Garista, an authentic Siwaluh Jabu (eight-family house) that was relocated and preserved, serves as a knowledge center rich in philosophical value and the uniqueness of nail-less architecture, making it a vital destination for students, university students, and researchers. Therefore, the guides at this site are required to possess competence beyond general standards, specifically the ability to perform educational interpretation rather than mere description, ensuring that the essence of Karo culture is conveyed with depth and substance. This research aims to formulate an ideal model for competence development, which includes identifying existing guide competency gaps, determining the key elements required (knowledge, skills, and attitude), and designing a structured training model. Methodologically, the study will utilize a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques involving triangulation, including in-depth interviews with managers, guides, and local cultural experts, participatory observation of the guiding process, and document analysis. The expected outcome is a Guide Competency Development Model oriented towards strengthening cultural narratives that can significantly enhance the educational tourism experience, while simultaneously contributing to the preservation efforts of the Karo heritage in an urban environment.  [Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada urgensi pengembangan kompetensi pemandu wisata budaya di Rumah Adat Karo Garista, yang berlokasi di Medan Selayang, sebagai respons terhadap meningkatnya permintaan sektor wisata edukasi. Garista, sebuah Siwaluh Jabu (rumah delapan keluarga) otentik yang dipindahkan dan dilestarikan, berfungsi sebagai pusat pengetahuan yang kaya akan nilai filosofis dan keunikan arsitektur tanpa paku, menjadikannya destinasi vital bagi pelajar, mahasiswa, dan peneliti. Oleh karena itu, pemandu di situs ini dituntut untuk memiliki kompetensi di atas standar umum, yaitu kemampuan untuk melakukan interpretasi edukatif alih-alih sekadar deskripsi, agar esensi budaya Karo dapat tersampaikan secara mendalam dan berbobot. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan model pengembangan kompetensi yang ideal, mencakup identifikasi kesenjangan kompetensi pemandu yang ada, penentuan elemen-elemen kunci yang dibutuhkan (pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap), dan perancangan model pelatihan yang terstruktur. Secara metodologis, penelitian ini akan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data triangulasi meliputi wawancara mendalam dengan pengelola, pemandu, dan budayawan lokal, observasi partisipatif terhadap proses guiding, serta analisis dokumen. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah Model Pengembangan Kompetensi Pemandu yang berorientasi pada penguatan narasi budaya dan mampu meningkatkan pengalaman wisata edukasi secara signifikan, sekaligus berkontribusi pada upaya pelestarian warisan Karo di wilayah urban.]

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Medan State Museum in preserving multi-ethnic cultural heritage in North Sumatra. The museum is understood not only as a place for storing historical artifacts, but also as a space for public education and a means of strengthening community cultural identity. This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that the Medan State Museum plays an active role in preserving ethnographic collections, representing the cultures of various ethnic groups in North Sumatra, and organizing educational programs as well as cultural exhibitions for the public. However, the museum still faces several challenges, including limitations in human resources, facilities, and low public interest in museum visits. Therefore, innovative, participatory, and sustainable management strategies are required to further optimize the museum’s role in preserving and safeguarding multi-ethnic cultural heritage. [Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Museum Negeri Medan dalam pelestarian warisan budaya multietnis di Sumatera Utara. Museum dipahami tidak hanya sebagai tempat penyimpanan koleksi benda bersejarah, tetapi juga sebagai ruang edukasi publik dan sarana penguatan identitas budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif-analitis melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Museum Negeri Medan berperan aktif dalam melestarikan koleksi etnografi, merepresentasikan kebudayaan berbagai etnis yang ada di Sumatera Utara, serta menyelenggarakan kegiatan edukasi dan pameran budaya bagi masyarakat. Namun demikian, museum masih menghadapi beberapa tantangan, seperti keterbatasan sumber daya manusia, fasilitas, serta rendahnya minat kunjungan masyarakat. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the design and implementation of guide training at the Museum Perkebunan Indonesia I (Musperin I) in Medan and to examine students’ experiences in strengthening their competencies as prospective museum guides. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with student trainees and instructors, and documentation of training activities. The findings indicate that the guide training program at Musperin I is designed based on a competency-based approach, emphasizing a balance between mastery of plantation history knowledge, communication and interpretation skills, visitor management, and professional ethics. The training experience has a positive impact on improving students’ understanding of local history, storytelling abilities, self-confidence, and professional readiness in guiding museum visitors. Furthermore, the training highlights the role of museums as effective contextual learning spaces that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical guiding experience. Therefore, the guide training program at Musperin I contributes to the development of competent, professional, and adaptive museum guides who are responsive to visitor needs and the dynamics of contemporary museology, while also reinforcing the museum’s role as an educational institution and a center for cultural heritage preservation. [Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis desain dan pelaksanaan pelatihan guide di Museum Perkebunan Indonesia I (Musperin I) Medan serta mengkaji pengalaman mahasiswa dalam memperkuat kompetensi sebagai calon pemandu museum. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam dengan mahasiswa peserta pelatihan dan instruktur, serta dokumentasi kegiatan pelatihan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan guide di Musperin I dirancang berbasis kompetensi dengan menekankan keseimbangan antara penguasaan pengetahuan sejarah perkebunan, keterampilan komunikasi dan interpretasi, manajemen kunjungan, serta etika profesi pemandu. Pengalaman pelatihan memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pemahaman sejarah lokal, kemampuan storytelling, kepercayaan diri, serta kesiapan profesional mahasiswa dalam memandu pengunjung museum. Pelatihan ini juga memperlihatkan peran museum sebagai ruang pembelajaran kontekstual yang efektif dalam mengintegrasikan teori dan praktik kepemanduan. Dengan demikian, pelatihan guide di Musperin I berkontribusi dalam membentuk pemandu museum yang kompeten, profesional, dan adaptif terhadap kebutuhan pengunjung serta perkembangan museologi kontemporer, sekaligus memperkuat fungsi museum sebagai institusi edukasi dan pelestarian warisan budaya.]

Abstract

One form of cooperation that is often used in the context of Islamic economics is the mudharabah agreement. One party acts as the capital owner, and the other party as the business manager. Brick making is a business sector that has great potential, especially in rural areas. Therefore, the problem arises of how to implement the profit sharing system in the mudharabah agreement in the brick making agreement in Alasbuluh Wongsorejo Banyuwangi? The type of research used is field research, that is, researchers go directly into the field to conduct research so they can see and understand the objects to be discussed. The results of this research indicate that the profit sharing system in the mudharabah agreement in the brick making agreement in Alasbuluh Wongsorejo is an application of cooperation between capital owners and managers. The capital provided is in the form of a loan with an agreement at the beginning of the contract. And the profit sharing system in the mudharabah agreement in the brick-making cooperation agreement in Alasbuluh Wongsorejo Banyuwangi in its implementation is not fully in accordance with Islamic law, one of the things that is appropriate is the terms of a consensual agreement.
