Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Among System in Scout activities at SDN 066 Halimun and explains how it contributes to elementary students' character habituation. Using a qualitative case study design, the study involved educators or Scout leaders and students who were directly engaged in routine Scout activities. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, activity observations, and documentation of Scout programs, schedules, and school records. The data were analyzed thematically by comparing evidence from different participant groups and data sources. The findings show that the Among System is implemented through three interrelated principles: Ing Ngarso Sung Tuladha, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa, and Tut Wuri Handayani. These principles strengthen character habituation by modelling discipline, motivating active participation, and providing guided autonomy for students. The study also identifies technical and non-technical constraints, including limited facilities, limited guidance time, variation in student enthusiasm, and the need for consistent leader capacity. The study contributes to character education scholarship by showing how the Among System can function as a practical mentoring framework in Scout-based extracurricular learning. Practical implications include the need to strengthen school-parent-community collaboration, integrate Scout values into daily school routines, and provide continuous training for Scout leaders.

Abstract

Character education remains central to educational reform, yet prior discussions of Ki Hadjar Dewantara often restate his ideas without critically connecting them to contemporary moral education. This qualitative literature review examines the relevance of Dewantara's concept of budi pekerti to current character education. Literature was identified through Google Scholar, ERIC, DOAJ, and publisher databases using Indonesian and English keywords related to Ki Hadjar Dewantara, moral education, values education, character education, digital citizenship, and multicultural education. The review covered peer-reviewed publications from 2019–2025 and included Dewantara's foundational educational work. Sources were selected for conceptual relevance, methodological clarity, and contribution to educational practice. Fifteen substantive sources were synthesized through reflexive thematic analysis. Four themes emerged: integrated moral development through thought, feeling, will, and action; moral formation through example, habituation, dialogue, and learner agency; the Tri-Center partnership among family, school, and community; and the extension of budi pekerti to digital citizenship, multicultural inclusion, and twenty-first-century competencies. The review's novelty lies in interpreting Dewantara's philosophy as a dynamic framework that combines local moral foundations with critical, democratic, and digitally responsible character education. Practically, the findings support curriculum integration, teacher modelling, participatory learning, and coordinated school-family-community programmes. The review concludes that Dewantara's philosophy remains relevant when implemented reflectively rather than as moral indoctrination.

Abstract

The use of authentic contexts in numeracy learning is important to help prospective elementary school teachers design meaningful and contextual mathematics instruction. However, a gap remains in the literature regarding how prospective teachers perceive the feasibility and potential of authentic context-based numeracy activities. This study aimed to explore how elementary student teachers in a Teacher Professional Education (TPE) program perceive the feasibility and potential of implementing the activity "Analysis of Composition Labels of Snack Foods" as a vehicle for promoting numeracy learning. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving 57 TPE students who completed a perception questionnaire following the learning activity. Data triangulation was conducted through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while open-ended responses were analyzed through content analysis using NVivo 12. Findings revealed that 92.98% of participants regarded the activity as feasible and relevant for initial numeracy assessment, recognizing its contextual nature, engaging quality, and ease of implementation. The activity was found to support the development of cognitive and practical skills, including proportional reasoning, unit conversion, critical thinking, and data interpretation. Furthermore, the activity demonstrated applicability across multiple elementary school subjects, reflecting its potential as a cross-curricular instructional approach. These findings suggest that snack food composition label analysis is a feasible and beneficial learning activity that can be meaningfully integrated into core elementary mathematics topics, including fractions, measurement, and data presentation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the Paired Storytelling model in responding to short story texts listened to thru audio podcasts and to evaluate the effectiveness of this model in improving listening skills of Phase F students at SMAN 12 Bandung. The main problem in this study is the low listening skills of students, caused by a lack of attention to the listening process and the ineffectiveness of the media and learning models used. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method of the Non-Equivalent Control Group Design type. The research sample consists of two classes: the experimental class using the Paired Storytelling model and podcast media, and the control class using the conventional discussion model. Data collection techniques were carried out thru observation, attitude assessment, and pre- and post-tests. Data analysis was performed using statistical tests with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The research results indicate that the Paired Storytelling model using audio podcasts has a significant positive impact on improving students' listening comprehension skills. Students in the experimental class showed better learning outcomes compared to the control class, both in terms of understanding the structure and intrinsic elements of short stories. Thus, the audio podcast-assisted Paired Storytelling model is recommended as an effective and innovative learning strategy for improving literary text listening skills, particularly for short stories.
