Abstract

Information on land characteristics, especially climatic and soil conditions of an area, is not only needed in determining land suitability but also in determining alternative management inputs needed for the development of certain commodities, including rubber and oil palm. Rubber and oil palm are export commodities that are national priority whose productivity continues to be pursued, including through extensification to various regions. This study aims to determine the potential for the development of rubber and oil palm plantations in Moramo and surrounding areas, based on soil and climatic conditions. Soil survey method which aims to obtain land characteristics data is used in this study. The characteristics of the land observed were climatic conditions such as temperature, rainfall, and dry months, and soil conditions such as drainage, texture, effective depth, cation exchange capacity, base saturation, pH, C-organic, P2O5, K2O, surface rocks, erosion hazard, slopes, and flood hazards. Evaluation of land suitability was carried out using the matching method between land characteristic data obtained from the field and laboratory with the criteria for growing rubber and oil palm plantations. The results showed that the climatic conditions that could be a limiting factor for the development of rubber and oil palm plantations in the Moramo area were rainfall and air temperature. Soil conditions that are limiting factors for the development of rubber and oil palm plantations in the Moramo area can be in the form of effective soil depth, slope, and erosion hazards. Management inputs that need to be carried out for the development of rubber and oil palm plantations in the Moramo area are soil conservation measures for erosion and slope limiting factors, and irrigation system settings for rainfall limiting factors. Potentially based on climate and soil conditions, rubber and oil palm plantations have the potential to be developed in most areas of Moramo.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer as a basal fertilizer on Ultisol soil fertility and tomato plant yields and to find out the dose of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer as a basal fertilizer that affect both Ultisol soil fertility and tomato crop yields. This research was carried out at the Field Laboratory II of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Integrated Laboratory of Halu Oleo University, from March to June 2022. This study was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD). The treatment tested was chicken manure and NPK fertilizer as a basal fertilizer consisting of 4 treatments, namely treatment without chicken manure (K0), chicken manure 200 g polybag-1 (K1), chicken manure 400 g polybag-1 (K2), chicken manure 600 g polybag-1 (K3). Each treatment was repeated by 3 tests, so there were 12 experimental units. The results showed that the application of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer as a basal fertilizer with various doses had an influence on soil fertility and tomato crop yields. In the K0 and K1 treatment, the fertility status was low, while the K2 and K3 treatment the fertility status increases to moderate, while the dose of chicken manure and NPK fertilizer as basal fertilizers that had higher on ultisol soil fertility and tomato plant yields, namely a dose of 600 g polybag-1 (K3) when compared to and a dose of 0 g polybag-1 (K0).

Abstract

Soil characteristics determine the potential yield of cultivated plants. Soil morphological characteristics generally differ between depths and locations, so different management efforts are required. This study aimed to determine the morphological characteristics of the soil in each layer and between sub-districts on upland rice cultivation land in North Buton Regency. The research method is based on free survey observations with an area administration approach to upland rice cultivation. Soil observation is carried out by drilling. Drilling is carried out to a depth of 120 cm or up to a layer of soil parent material. Qualitative soil descriptions have been carried out directly in the field to obtain an overview of soil morphological characteristics between layers and locations. The results showed the morphological characteristics of the soil on upland rice cultivation in North Buton Regency, where soil colors are generally brown (ranging from dark brown to yellowish brown; Hue 7.5-10 YR with low value and chroma respectively). Soil texture generally includes fine to medium texture, ranging from clay, silt to loam, except for the slightly coarse-textured Bonegunu area (sandy loam) in the subsoil layer. Soil consistency generally includes firm in moist conditions, plastic and sticky in wet conditions. Soil organic matter content is generally moderate, except for the Kambowa area which is low. While the soil pH levels, both between depths and locations, are in the slightly acidic category. It is necessary to pay attention to the differences in pedogenesis factors between locations in the management of upland rice cultivation in the North Buton Regency to realize optimal and sustainable productivity.

Abstract

Daun kedondong hutan merupakan salah satu tanaman herbal untuk mengobati penyakit diare, rematik, demam dan diabetes. Secara empiris daun kedondong hutan digunakan masyarakat Desa Kasumewuho sebagai bahan tambahan untuk menambah cita rasa pada masakan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat LPPM Politeknik Bina Husada bertujuan dalam rangka pemanfaatan daun kedondong hutan untuk dijadikan cemilan antidiabetes di desa Kasumewuho. Potensi pengembangan biskuit kedondong hutan sebagai makanan alternatif memiliki peluang untuk dijadikan cemilan yang sangat baik untuk kesehatan yang bisa dikonsumsi oleh semua kalangan usia. Metode kegiatan dilakukan dengan sosialisasi pembuatan biskuit daun kedondong hutan pada masyarakat desa Kasumewuho sebanyak 22 orang. Kegiatan dilakukan dimulai dari pemanenan, sortasi basah, sortasi kering, pengeringan, pemotongan dan penyerbukan daun kedondong hutan. Daun kedondong hutan dibuat dengan 3 (tiga) konsentrasi yaitu A (1 g), B (3 g), dan C (5 g) dan selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian organoleptik meliputi warna, bau, rasa dan bentuk sediaan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan masyarakat Desa Kasumewuho memiliki antusias yang tinggi mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hasil pengujian organoleptik menunjukkan biskuit A berwarna kuning, B (kuning kehijauan), C (coklat kehijauan). Dari segi rasa biskuit A, B, C memiliki bau khas susu. Uji kesukaan menunjukkan biskuit A(33%), B(70%), C(17%). Pada uji kerenyahan menunjukkan rasa renyah 100% pada biskuit A, B, C. Pada uji kekerasan menunjukkan biskuit A, B, C memiliki tekstur yang keras (0%) dan lembut dikonsumsi (100%) pada biskuit A, B, C. Biskuit daun kedondong hutan dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk biskuit sebagai cemilan antidiabetes serta mewujudkan masyarakat yang sehat dan produktif.

Abstract

Most of the residents in Sindangkasih Village earn their livelihoods through farming. The survey results indicate a decrease in the level of agricultural productivity in this village due to a lack of knowledge in agricultural management, leading to a continuous decline in soil fertility. Conversely, the village serves as a livestock center, producing cow dung waste, and houses a grain milling industry that generates rice husk waste, both of which have not been optimally utilized. The goal of this community service is to provide training and assistance to enhance the knowledge of farmer groups in producing soil improvement materials based on local resources. The methods employed in the service activities include counseling, demonstrations on creating soil improvement materials, and group discussions with the participation of 30 individuals. The results of the activity demonstrate an increase in the knowledge and skills of the Sindangkasih Village community in producing soil improvement materials, particularly organic fertilizer, to support agricultural production.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik beberapa sifat kimia tanah lahan sawah pada kemiringan berbeda di Kecamatan Bungi Kota Baubau. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survei. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan bor tanah pada lereng 0-2% dan 2-8%. Kriteria penilaian hasil analisis menurut Balai Penelitian Tanah (2023). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakteristik beberapa sifat kimia tanah sawah meliputi pH, C-organik, N-total, P-total, K-total, dan KTK pada kemiringan 0-2% yaitu 6,56(agak masam), 3,71%(tinggi), 0,66%(tinggi), 32,24 mg 100 g-1(sedang), 29,64 mg 100 g-1(sedang), dan 28,78 cmol kg-1(tinggi). Sedangkan pada kemiringan 2-8% yaitu 6,89(netral), 3,91%(tinggi), 0,74%(tinggi), 36,96 mg 100 g-1(sedang), 42,62 mg 100 g-1(tinggi), 32,99 cmol kg-1(tinggi). Hasil analisis menunjukkan pH, C-organik, N-total, P-total, K-total, dan KTK memiliki kadar lebih tinggi pada kemiringan 2-8% dibanding kemiringan 0-2%.

Abstract

The state of sugar in Indonesia which is decreasing in terms of production, the imbalance between production and consumption, can occur due to two things, both on-farm and off-farm. Planting in monoculture for a long period of time will cause reduced soil fertility conditions so that sugarcane productivity decreases. Sustainable nutrient management in sugarcane plantations is an effort made to obtain optimal and profitable productivity, while still trying not to damage the environment so that it can be sustainable and its productivity can be maintained in the long term. Several concepts for sustainability have been put forward by many experts, including the use of site-specific fertilizers, maintaining soil fertility by using sugar processing by-products and the use of humic. It is hoped that some of these application methods can maintain sugarcane plantations to be sustainable.

Abstract

Praktik pertanian masyarakat Amonggedo, Kabupaten Konawe masih bergantung pada metode konvensional yang mengandalkan penggunaan pupuk dan pestisida kimia secara berlebihan. Hal ini menyebabkan degradasi kualitas tanah dan menurunnya produktivitas pertanian. Selain itu, keterbatasan pengetahuan petani menghambat pemanfaatan potensi sumber daya lokal dan penerapan teknologi pertanian ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas petani dalam menerapkan sistem pertanian berkelanjutan berbasis sumber daya lokal (Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture/LEISA) melalui pelatihan dan pemanfaatan limbah pertanian sebagai bahan pembenah tanah. Konsep LEISA mengedepankan pada pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal sebagai bahan baku pertanian. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui pendekatan partisipatif, mencakup penyuluhan, pelatihan teknis, dan demonstrasi pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan limbah pertanian. Mitra kegiatan adalah kelompok tani di Desa Matabura, Kecamatan Amonggedo, Kabupaten Konawe Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan tim PkM UHO menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok tani sebesar 93% setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan perubahan positif dalam praktik budidaya petani, berupa pengurangan penggunaan input kimia dan peningkatan kesadaran terhadap pentingnya keberlanjutan lahan pertanian melalui pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

Karakteristik kimia tanah merupakan faktor utama yang memengaruhi tingkat kesuburan tanah pada lahan pertanian. Variasi tingkat kesuburan tanah dapat terjadi akibat perbedaan pengelolaan lahan dan kondisi lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sifat kimia tanah serta mengevaluasi tingkat kesuburan tanah pada pertanaman ubi kayu yang diusahakan pada lahan berbatu di Kecamatan Kulisusu dan Kecamatan Kulisusu Utara, Kabupaten Buton Utara. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode survei melalui pengamatan lapangan dan analisis laboratorium di Laboratorium Ilmu Tanah Universitas Halu Oleo. Penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling pada enam desa, yaitu Waode Buri, Ulu Nambo, Lelamo, Loji, Jampaka, dan Bonelipu. Sampel tanah diambil masing-masing sebanyak ±1 kg dari setiap lokasi, kemudian dianalisis untuk parameter pH, C-organik, P-tersedia, K-tersedia, kapasitas tukar kation (KTK), dan kejenuhan basa (KB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pH tanah tergolong agak masam (5,60–5,82), KTK tergolong sedang hingga sangat tinggi (24,80–35,39 cmol(+)/kg), dan KB termasuk sangat tinggi (70,79–85,63%). Sementara itu, kadar P dan K-tersedia serta C-organik semua lokasi termasuk kategori rendah hingga sedang (masing-masing berkisar 9,57-13,68 ppm, 0,34-0,41 cmol(+)/kg, dan 1,11-2,13%). Berdasarkan evaluasi sifat kimia tanah pada pertanaman ubi kayu di lahan berbatu disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kesuburan tanah pada lokasi penelitian bervariasi dari rendah hingga tinggi Meskipun lokasi ini memiliki retensi hara yang tinggi karena berkembang pada daerah karst, tetapi laju pengurasan hara yang cepat pada beberapa lokasi yang ditandai dengan rendahnya kadar C-organik, P dan K mengindikasikan perlunya manajemen hara spesifik lokasi melalui kombinasi penggunaan pupuk organik dan anorganik.

Abstract

Patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) is one of the essential oil producing plants which is widely used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and perfume fields, especially as a mixture or fixative (fragrance binder). The productivity and success rate of the initial growth of patchouli plants are largely determined by the cultivation techniques used. The cuttings used are stem cuttings with the best number of 4 nodes and have 2 remaining leaves for photosynthesis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of growth regulator treatment and planting media composition on the growth of patchouli cuttings. The study used a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors, namely the first factor of planting media (M) consisting of 2 levels, namely: M0 = Ultisol soil (control); M1 = Ultisol soil + coconut shell biochar (2:1). The second factor of PGR (N) consists of 4 levels, namely: N0 = Water (control); N1 = 100% coconut water; N2 = 45% shallot extract; N3 = Rootone-F 150 ppm. The results showed that each independent treatment had a very significant effect on the variables of fresh cutting weight (g), root volume (cm3) and root morphology. Furthermore, the interaction of planting media and PGR treatments had a very significant effect on the variables of fresh cutting weight, root volume and root morphology. Ultisol soil + coconut shell biochar (2:1) and Rootone-F 150 ppm planting media were the best treatments to increase the growth of patchouli cuttings.
