Abstract

Examining the perceived efficacy of pre-service teachers in implementing inclusive practices is one approach to see if they are up to the challenge. The instrument of the study was adopted from Prof.Umesh Sharma's article. The old research only does qualitative research. This study aims to check pre-service teachers' efficacy in implementing inclusive education in teaching English. This research used a descriptive quantitative research design to check pre-teacher efficacy to practice inclusive classes in teaching English. The data were collected through a questionnaire with 99 participants from introduction in inclusive education classes. The obtained study shows a positive response toward pre-service teachers' efficacy. The findings show that most participants agree with the statements about the efficacy of using inclusive instructions, collaboration, and management. The more strong the sense of efficacy in the pre-service teacher, the greater the chance for them to succeed in implementing inclusive education in the classroom.

Abstract

The benefits of mindfulness in adults have been widely researched, and its positive impact on psychology and teacher performance has become a major focus in the field of education. These benefits include stress regulation and reduction, increased compassion, and improved teaching effectiveness. Many studies have highlighted the positive relationship between mindfulness traits and teaching readiness. This study specifically examines the role of prospective teachers' mindfulness traits in their readiness to teach. The theoretical model proposed by Manasia et al. (2019), which includes four key dimensions of teaching, was used to measure the teaching readiness of prospective teachers in three academic programs at the Department of Language Education at a leading state university in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. The Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) was employed to measure the mindfulness traits of students as future teachers. The study found that mindfulness traits were able to predict higher teaching readiness in participants. These findings also form the basis for a community service activity, which involves providing mindfulness psychology training during teaching preparation orientation for students as prospective teachers.

Abstract

Along with the rapid development of technology, local wisdom tends to run into marginalization so that it is completely lost (Choesin, 2002 cited in Rasna & Tantra, 2017). The local wisdom should be able to become a milestone in the community in order to preserve the cultural heritage and the natural resources. Meanwhile, a transformation towards sustainability is urgently needed for our planet, and every other living thing on it including the resources it provides. Therefore, this study aims at exploring the local wisdoms that still exist and develops at several springs in Singosari Malang. Locations were chosen based on the profile of the springs which still have good management based on the local wisdom that are passed on through generations. The springs include Sumber Biru and Sumber Nagan in Gunungrejo village, Singosari District Malang. The research approach used is ethnographic research. Interviews, focused discussions, and documentation were the techniques used to collect the data. The result is descriptively presented in a form of a history of the springs which is retold in the form of short story. DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/lw.v12i1.3646

Abstract

The development of tourism in Malang City should be balanced with improvements in communication skills, particularly foreign languages (English) for tourism operators and tourism facilities that can communicate basic information to foreign tourists, such as directions and descriptions/stories about a tourist spot. Kampung Heritage Kayoetangan (KHK) as one of the thematic village tourist destinations in Malang City requires historical information facilities that can narrate the origins and cultural heritage of the historical spots located there. Therefore, this community service initiative was conducted to assist in providing historical storytelling information facilities at KHK, thereby adding value so that tourism practitioners there can better communicate the historical significance of the places they inhabit.
