Abstract

The phenomenon of online loans (pinjol) presents a quick financial solution but carries risks, particularly regarding the practice of riba, which is prohibited in Islam. This research analyzes the activity of online loans from an Islamic perspective, covering the legal aspects of loans in Sharia law, as well as the social, economic, and psychological impacts. Islam permits loans based on qiradh, which emphasize justice and mutual help without riba. However, online loans often contain elements of riba, either in the form of fixed interest or late payment penalties, which can harm users. This study also discusses the negative impacts of riba, such as inflation, economic injustice, and financial crises. The proposed solutions include the implementation of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah concepts, as well as financial literacy education to avoid the traps of online loans. By understanding the legal and adverse effects of riba, this research aims to raise awareness and provide guidance for the community to lead a more blessed financial life in accordance with Islamic principles.

Abstract

This research examines the application of the syirkah contract in the profit-sharing system implemented at the As-Sunnah Islamic Religious College (STAI) Medan, which adopts the cooperative concept. As we know, conventional cooperatives today often contain practices of riba and gharar, which have been strictly prohibited by Allah ﷻ in the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the syirkah contract within the structure of the STAI As-Sunnah cooperative and ensure its compliance with the principles of Islamic economic law. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with field research methods. (field research). Data were collected through interviews and direct observations of the parties involved in the STAI As-Sunnah cooperative. The research results show that the application of the syirkah contract in the STAI As-Sunnah cooperative includes the management of cooperative collaboration and its relevance to the principles of Islamic economic law governing the cooperative. This research provides a clear picture of the syirkah contract law and its implementation in the STAI As-Sunnah cooperative. From this research, it can be concluded that the syirkah contract has two forms, namely syirkah of ownership (like inheritance) and syirkah of contract, which consists of several types, namely syirkah mufawadhah, maal/'inan, abdan, wujuh, and mudharabah.

Abstract

Rumah Qur’an (RQ) Raudhatul Hufadz, a non-formal Qur’anic learning center in Sei Mencirim Village, Deli Serdang Regency, faced two intertwined problems: children showed strong enthusiasm for learning yet had no access to structured Arabic instruction, and the existing tahfidz (Qur’an memorization) program suffered from flagging motivation caused by repetitive, one-directional teaching. This community service initiative combined Service Learning (SL) and Participatory Action Research (PAR) to introduce basic Arabic instruction alongside a redesigned tahfidz process over a two-week period (21 February–5 March 2026). Twenty-four children took part in the Arabic class and twenty-one in the tahfidz program. Data were gathered through observation, a focus group discussion, and daily evaluation sheets, and were analyzed across two intervention cycles following a plan-act-observe-reflect sequence. In the Arabic class, drill practice, the mubasyarah (direct) method, and communicative techniques paired with visual media such as matching boards and flashcards produced measurable gains in vocabulary recognition and simple conversational exchange. In the tahfidz program, replacing rote repetition with a fun-learning approach and a participatory appreciation system – daily evaluation sheets tied to small rewards – raised both attendance and the completion rate of memorization targets. A parallel online Ta’lim session engaged parents (Ummahat) in supporting home-based learning. The findings suggest that pairing Service Learning’s structured reflection with Participatory Action Research’s cyclical, community-driven problem-solving can resolve demotivation in traditional Qur’anic education while leaving behind a durable foundation for Arabic-language instruction
