Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, has a high dependence on maritime transportation and port infrastructure to support economic and trade activities. However, the performance of maritime transportation and the development of port infrastructure still face various challenges, including low operational efficiency, limited investment, and unsynchronized regulations. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting maritime transportation performance and port infrastructure development in Indonesia using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach and the Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) method. The data used covers the period from 2011 to 2023, focusing on five major ports in Indonesia: Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Belawan, Makassar, and Balikpapan. The research findings indicate that port operational efficiency, maritime sector investment, and technology adoption have the most significant influence on maritime transportation performance. Meanwhile, port infrastructure development is primarily influenced by maritime sector investment and inter-port connectivity. Additionally, improvements in maritime transportation performance and port infrastructure have been proven to positively impact maritime economic growth. Therefore, strategic policies focusing on sustainable investment, operational efficiency enhancement, and technology integration are essential to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s maritime sector at the global level.

Abstract

This research investigates how Indonesia’s plastic product exports influence the national trade balance, drawing comparative lessons from fellow ASEAN economies. Employing a multiple linear regression approach, the study evaluates the impact of five macroeconomic indicators—exchange rate, foreign direct investment (FDI), inflation, production volume, and logistics infrastructure—on export performance. The analysis reveals that all variables exert statistically significant effects, with FDI inflows and infrastructure quality emerging as the most influential drivers of export growth. A weaker exchange rate tends to bolster export competitiveness, whereas inflation undermines cost-efficiency and market viability. Higher production output and enhanced logistics systems contribute directly to increased export capacity and operational effectiveness. The findings underscore the need for integrated macroeconomic strategies focused on inflation control, investment attraction, and infrastructure development to reinforce Indonesia’s trade balance through plastic industry exports. These policy directions align with ASEAN’s broader agenda for industrial resilience and export-oriented development.

Abstract

Global online retail is experiencing rapid growth, as reflected in the value of e-commerce, which is estimated to have grown by over 230 percent to $4.48 trillion, or Rp60.467 trillion, in 2021, from just $1.8 trillion in 2014. Online shopping has now become a popular pastime worldwide, particularly among young people. In addition to exciting new experiences, the prices of purchased items are also cheaper compared to traditional shopping. This sort of research is qualitative, utilizing secondary data obtained through literature reviews and statistical data. The research findings indicate that the value of e-commerce grew by over 230 percent to $4.48 trillion, or Rp60.467 trillion, in 2021, from just $1.8 trillion in 2014. In 2020 alone, the total turnover of the Asian continent reached $1.7 trillion USD. Moreover, this growth is projected to continue increasing in 2025, with an expected 51% increase to $2.5 trillion. China had sales of $1.3 trillion and is projected to grow to nearly $2 trillion by 2025. These figures exceed sales in Europe and North America. In 2020, the turnover of the European continent was $460 billion and North America was $588 billion. These values are significantly lower compared to China's sales. E-commerce in Indonesia also experienced strong growth since the beginning of 2020 due to the pandemic. The trading business grew by around 33% in 2020, and its main value increased rapidly from Rp 253 billion to Rp 337 billion. The role of business law in e-commerce transactions applies similarly to other purchasing and trading activities. With regulations in place regarding this matter, legal certainty is provided for the conduct of electronic transactions in Indonesia and internationally.

Abstract

The discussion in this empirical study is to find out what variables can influence the achievement of the actual inflation rate variable in Indonesia in the last ten years. The writer considers that achieving the actual inflation rate targeted by a Central Bank is not simply related to supply and demand imbalances for primary goods alone, but more broadly than that related to dynamic micro and macroeconomic conditions. The writer initially suspected that variables such as the inflation target rate, previous inflation rate, loan interest rate, and gross domestic product had a significant influence on fluctuations in the actual inflation rate in Indonesia. After statistical tests were carried out using the secondary data in the form of the rates of the four independent variables and the actual inflation rate in Indonesia as the dependent variable every year for the last ten years it’s found that only the loan interest rate had a significant and positive effect on the actual inflation rate in Indonesia. which means that the higher the loan interest rate will also increase the actual inflation rate. The three other variables tested in this empirical study, namely the inflation target rate, the previous inflation rate, and the gross domestic product rate, did not have a significant effect.
