Abstract

There are still problems in the teaching and learning processes in  Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Science Education, Teacher Training College PGRI Jember. Most of the lectures are still conducted through face to face meeting, unidirectional and low participation of students. Therefore, the students’ motivation and cognitive learning outcomes are also still not as expected. There are also lack of sharing among lecturers in planning the teaching and learning processes, and the use of multimedia information technology is not maximized. This research aims to improve the motivation and cognitive learning outcomes of the students with different academic capabilities by using Blended Learning-based guided inquiry strategy through Lesson Study in Genetics Course. The subjects were 54 biology education students of the Teachers Training College PGRI Jember who attended genetics course. The subjects were divided into two groups, which are lower academic group and higher academic group. The indicator of improvement was determined by the increase of percentage (%) in motivation and cognitive learning outcomes before and after the learning processes.The results showed that the increase of motivation to learn in the lower academic capability students was 29.61%. This was higher than the increase of motivation to learn in the higher academic capability  students which was 25.35%. The increase of cognitive learning outcomes in the lower academic capability  students was 95.86%. This was also higher than the increase of cognitive learning outcomes in the higher academic capability students which was 81.16%. The increase in all aspects happened because by using the Blended Learning-based guided inquiry strategy, the students could search for and found their own concepts of genetics by using information technology. The Lesson Study has improve the lecturers’ awareness of the need to share experience among lecturers to improve their experties in conducting a higher quality of teaching learning processes.

Abstract

Basically students have critical thinking skills. Students 'critical thinking skills that are still low are needed in a way so that students' critical thinking skills increase, With the Problem Based Learning learning model in the hope that students' critical thinking skills will increase. the purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of problem based learning in improving students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is Action Research, with the stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two lessons. The subjects in this study were MTs students. In Ambulu sub-district. Data collection techniques use tests and non-tests. The results showed that student learning outcomes in the first cycle got a score of 45 with very low criteria, in cycle II it increased to 92.5 with very good criteria. Students' critical thinking skills in the first cycle experienced 36% classical completeness with very low criteria, in cycle II it increased to 80% with high criteria. The results of the study prove that the application of the Problem Based Learning model is very effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran model belajar Discovery Learning dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Biologi. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini memiliki subyek penelitian siswa kelas VII-D SMP Negeri I Arjasa Tahun Pelajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 29 siswa. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan metode observasi, wawancara, tes, serta dokumentasi. Penelitian ini berakhir dengan 2 siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi model belajar Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa. Persentase ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa pada siklus ke-1 sebesar 51,72 %, dan meningkat menjadi 86% pada siklus ke-2.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode praktikum terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI IPA pada Pokok Bahasan Sistem Pernapasan di SMA Satya Dharma Balung Tahun Pelajaran 2017 / 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Pre-Eksperimental Design. Populasi yang diambil adalah siswa kelas XI IPA, dan sampelnya diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive. Sampel diambil dari kelas XI IPA 2 yang memiliki nilai rata-rata terendah di antara kelas yang lain, dengan jumlah 31 siswa. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil analisis data penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif metode praktikum terhadap hasil belajar siswa, yang ditandai dengan semakin meningkatnya rata-rata hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Abstract

This achievement study aims to determine the effect of student participation in the Student Activity Unit (SAU) on student. This study used the Independent-Sample T-Test analysis, which is the analysis used to compare two averages or two groups that are not related and calculated using the SPSS program. The sample in this study was taken from active and inactive students in SAU activities with a total of 40 students. The results showed that the activeness and inactivity of students in SAU activities had no effect on students' Grade Point Avarage (GPA) scores.

Abstract

Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) merupakan pupuk yang dibuat dengan cara menguraikan sisa-sisa bahan organik dari tumbuhan, hewan, dan manusia yang nilai nutrisinya menunjang pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan POC berbahan dasar lidah buaya terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman selada keriting hijau. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian eksperimen murni (true eksperiment) dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 kelompok perlakuan yaitu P0: kontrol negatif (air), P1: POC 15%, P2: POC 25%, dan P3: kontrol positif (pupuk kimia). Pengulangan dilakukan sebanyak 6 kali. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun, berat basah dan berat kering. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Mann-Whitney dan ANOVA yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan POC lidah buaya dengan konsentrasi P2 (25%) memberikan pertumbuhan jauh lebih baik dibandingkan P0 dan P1. Namun, pertumbuhannya sedikit lebih lambat dibandingkan P3 (pupuk kimia). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemberian POC lidah buaya 15% dan 25% tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap seluruh parameter pengamatan, namun pertumbuhannya masih lebih rendah dibandingkan pupuk kimia yaitu P3 (kontrol positif), tetapi jika dibandingkan dengan P1 (kontrol negatif), pemberian POC lidah buaya jauh lebih baik.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the learning process carried out by teachers has not facilitated students adequately through the use of LKPD. Teachers tend to use textbooks which contain material summaries and practice questions. The objectives of this research are (1) To describe the validity of P5-based LKPD; and (2) Describe the practicality of P5-based LKPD. The research method used is research and development (R & D) with the ADDIE model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluations. The instruments used are validation sheets and teacher and student response questionnaire sheets. From a series of development processes carried out, it can be concluded that the LKPD based on the P5 Bhineka Tunggal Ika theme received a score of 91.75% and is within the very feasible criteria. Meanwhile, for the practicality of the LKPD based on the P5 theme of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, the teacher gave a score of 90% and was within the very practical criteria and students gave a score of 92.2% and was within the very practical criteria. As a form of follow-up and as a limitation to the research objectives, the researcher recommends testing the effectiveness of LKPD based on the P5 theme of Bhineka Tunggal Ika

Abstract

Immunomodulator is an agent to activate and modulate the immune response. It is one of the approaches to prevent chronic disease and maintain homeostasis. Recently,  plant phytochemicals have been developed as prospective immunomodulatory agents. Genitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus), a local plant cultivated in Indonesia, exhibited various biological properties and potential as an immunomodulatory agent. This study aims to identify the potency of genitri as immunomodulatory agent through leukocyte profiling. Genitri leaf (P1), seed (P2), and fruit (P3) were prepared as powder and administered to male wistar rats weighted 250-300 g twith six replications for 28 days. The total leukocytes were  counted and leukocytes were being  profiled following the treatment with genitri powder then  compared with control treatment (P0). The immunomodulatory activity of genitri was shown by the increased leukocytes count following treatment. Based on data from the treatment group (P2), genitri seeds were able to increase leukocytes by 10595.83 cells/µl. The highest total leukocytes were found in treatment P2 with total leukocytes 10595.83 cells/µl. Based on the leukocyte profile, lymphocytes and monocytes were found to be the highest in all treatments. Treatment with genitri was able to stimulate an increase in lymphocytes and monocytes. An increase in total leukocytes given genitri is an indication of an increased immune response.
