Abstract

This research focuses on the implementation of the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas) in the Pulau Atas Subdistrict community of Samarinda City. Germas represents a systematic and planned collective effort aimed at enhancing the quality of life by promoting healthy behaviors. Using a quantitative descriptive research design and incidental sampling techniques for respondent selection, the study is scheduled for May 2023. The study primarily addresses Germas's role in fostering a healthier environment, encompassing waste management, water quality, and sanitation. Through community surveys and observations, the research aims to assess Germas practices and awareness, identifying implementation challenges and opportunities. The research output is expected to yield valuable insights into the effectiveness of Germas initiatives in promoting a healthier environment. Data collection involves surveys and observations within the Pulau Atas Subdistrict community, with subsequent analysis to gauge Germas awareness and implementation levels among residents. The findings will illuminate the current status of Germas in the community, emphasizing areas for improvement and potential interventions. In conclusion, this research enhances Germas understanding and promotes a healthier environment by evaluating practices and awareness, providing recommendations for Pulau Atas Subdistrict, Samarinda City

Abstract

Abstrak: Di Kota Samarinda kasus DBD pada tahun 2023 ialah 867 kasus positif dengan 3 kasus meninggal dunia yang dimana Kota Samarinda berada di urutan ketiga kasus DBD tertinggi setelah Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara dengan kasus 1555 positif dan 4 kasus meninggal dunia dan Kota Balikpapan dengan 1019 kasus positif dan 4 meninggal dunia . Kasus DBD tertinggi di Kota Samarinda terdapat pada Puskesmas Bengkuring khususnya di Kelurahan  Sempaja Utara. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menambah kepedulian masyarakat tentang bahaya DBD serta upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan penerapan 3M Plus. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan cara memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang bahaya DBD serta upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan 3M Plus. Metode edukasi dilakukan dengan membagikan media cetak seperti brosur/poster/leaflet serta pemutaran video edukasi sehingga dapat menambah wawasan masyarakat sekitar untuk menerapkan upaya 3M Plus terhadap 30 warga. Peserta menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dan menyatakan bahwa mereka akan mulai menerapkan 3M Plus di rumahnya.   Abstract: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a serious public health issue in Samarinda City, with 867 confirmed cases and 3 deaths reported in 2023. Samarinda ranks third in East Kalimantan for DHF incidence, following Kutai Kartanegara Regency and Balikpapan City. The highest number of cases in Samarinda was recorded at the Bengkuring Community Health Center, especially in North Sempaja Subdistrict. This community service activity aimed to increase public awareness of DHF and promote preventive efforts through the implementation of the 3M Plus strategy (draining, closing, recycling, and additional prevention measures). Educational interventions were conducted using printed media (brochures, posters, leaflets) and video screenings. The activity received positive responses from participants, who showed high enthusiasm and expressed their intention to apply the 3M Plus strategy in their daily lives. The initiative demonstrated the importance of health education in empowering communities to prevent the spread of DHF.

Abstract

Samarinda City ranked third in Indonesia for dengue cases in 2023 with 867 confirmed cases and 3 deaths. The first rank is Balikpapan City (1019 cases) and Kutai Kartanegara Regency (1555 cases and 4 deaths). Bengkuring Health Center is the health center that has the most DHF patients in Samarinda City. The main objective of this study was to identify the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae in Samarinda City, especially in Sempaja Utara Urban Village. This study was conducted using cross sectional technique. A total of 98 respondents from 43 RTs in Sempaja Utara Urban Village using stratified random sampling. The dependent variable of the study is the presence of Aedes aegypti larvae, and the independent variable is draining water reservoirs as well as the location of water reservoirs. Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between draining water reservoirs and the presence of Aedes aegypti larvae in Sempaja Utara Village (p-value> 0.05). While the location of water reservoirs has a relationship with the presence of Aedes aegypti larvae in Sempaja Utara Village (p-value < 0.05).
