This study explores the dynamics of speech acts within communication processes, with a focus on Searle’s classification of illocutionary acts into five categories: assertive, referential, commissive, expressive, and declarative. It aims to provide a descriptive overview of illocutionary acts in the “Kos Mas Adam” WhatsApp group and identify their prevalence. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data analysis utilized heuristic analysis techniques. The study reveals various illocutionary speech acts in the group discussions, with assertive speech being the most common (9 data), followed by expressive (12 data) and directive (4 data). Notably, commissive speech is scarce, with only one instance, and declarative with two. These findings underscore the uneven distribution of illocutionary acts within the WhatsApp group “Kos Mas Adam”, with implications for understanding online discourse dynamics. Future research may explore strategies for promoting a more balanced use of illocutionary speech acts in online group interactions.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial skills are crucial for the younger generation's adaptation to the creative economy. Higher education has a strategic role in producing graduates capable of innovative businesses. The Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) aims to strengthen the campus entrepreneurial ecosystem through coaching, mentoring, and training. However, research specifically evaluating P2MW's role in developing student business skills in economically promising sectors like guppy farming is limited. This study examines P2MW's effectiveness in improving entrepreneurial skills among PGRI Delta University students in guppy farming, including technical, managerial, income, impact, and challenges. Using a qualitative case study with interviews, observation, and document analysis of three student participants, the research found that P2MW significantly enhanced entrepreneurial skills, technical knowledge, sustainable income, and economic independence. Results show substantial increases in sales (48%), revenue (34,94%), and guppy variants (400%)  through effective hybrid marketing and financial management. The program successfully integrated technical and managerial aspects, creating a replicable business model and sustainable income. This study enriches practice-based entrepreneurship education literature and offers a model for higher education, with potential for replication in other agribusinesses and providing practical program development recommendations. Further research with more participants and longer tracking is suggested.

Abstract

Mobile gaming, as a rapidly expanding industry, has introduced unique linguistic elements into daily communication, particularly among university students. While these terms may support EFL learners in improving their language skills, research in this area remains limited. This study aims to explore the newly emerging terms in Mobile Legends and their potential impact on EFL university students’ vocabulary growth and reading comprehension. A total of 35 students participated in gameplay-based learning sessions, and data were gathered using vocabulary tests, comprehension tasks, and reflective journals through a mixed-method approach. The findings suggest that consistent exposure to gaming terms from Mobile Legends significantly broadens students’ vocabulary and enhances their understanding of reading materials. Additionally, students reported higher motivation and engagement when learning English through gaming. The study concludes that incorporating gaming language as supplementary material in the EFL classroom can play a valuable role in supporting vocabulary acquisition and improving comprehension outcomes.

Abstract

This study explores the use of the Logico Maximo game as an interactive medium to support vocabulary acquisition among young EFL learners at ILC English Course. Data was collected through student questionnaires, interviews with a fellow teacher and course manager, and classroom observation using a descriptive qualitative methodology. According to the results, Logico Maximo creates a more expanding, interesting, and enjoyable learning environment. The game's sensory and visual elements were well received by the students, encouraging active engagement and enhancing vocabulary memory. Nevertheless, the study also noted a varietyof difficulties, such as differing student comprehension levels, time management issues, and practical limitations in game implementation. Despite these issues, both the teacher and stakeholders viewed the game as an effective tool for enriching vocabulary learning. The results support previous research on the benefits of game-based learning in EFL contexts, particularly for early learners who thrive on multimodal and play-based instruction. It is suggested that future implementations include task differentiation and additional support mechanisms to accommodate learners with diverse needs.
