Abstract

Postpartum depression is a condition that must be given serious attention because it affects not only the mother, but also the child, and harmony within the family. Therefore, healthcare providers, families, and the community need to have anunderstanding of how to detect and manage this condition effectively. This community service aims to improve mental health literacy and digital skills of postpartum mothers through the use of the NAMISIKU application. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach with the following stages : a) socialization and education, b) training and application usage, c) monitoring and evaluation. The results show that there was an increase in mental health literacy among postpartum mothers, as indicated by a 70% improvement in knowledge related to postpartum depression symptoms and the importance of social support, based on pre-test and post-test results. In addition, training on the use of the NAMISIKU application successfully enhanced participants' skills in accessing and utilizing digital features, with most postpartum mothers able to operate the application independently. The participants also responded positively, expressing satisfaction with its content, design, and usefulness in recognizing emotional symptoms and finding appropriate information. The conclusion is that the program showed a 70% increase in understanding, a 90% improvement in application usage skills, and an 80% level of participant satisfaction, indicating that the NAMISIKU application has strong potential as a screening and educational tool for the prevention of postpartum depression.

Abstract

Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women remains a serious health problem that can increase the risk of delivery complications and stunting. This Community Service activity aims to improve the literacy and skills of pregnant women in the working area of Sulaa Health Center, Baubau City through the application of innovative combination juice of red guava (Psidium guajava) and orange (Citrus) as a natural nutritional alternative for increasing hemoglobin. The implementation methods included nutritional counseling, juice-making demonstration, and regular consumption assistance conducted in January-February 2026 involving 15 pregnant women as participants. The results showed an 80% increase in respondents' literacy about the dangers of anemia (from 6 to 12 people who understood), and an 80% increase in understanding of the benefits and how to make combination juice (from 5 to 12 people who understood). The willingness evaluation showed that 73% of pregnant women (11 out of 15) committed to consuming the juice independently as a complementary effort alongside Iron Supplement Tablets (TTD) consumption. The combination of red guava, rich in iron and vitamin C, and orange with high vitamin C content, proved effective as an affordable non-pharmacological solution. This program is expected to reduce the anemia rate and strengthen community empowerment in utilizing nutrition based on local wisdom. Keywords: Anemia, Guava, Hemoglobin, Orange, Pregnant Women

Abstract

Background: Vaginal discharge or fluor albus is a disorder of the reproductive tract, particularly affecting the vaginal area. Pathological vaginal discharge requires prompt treatment because its complications may include ovarian infection and may eventually lead to infertility. Based on the above, researchers seek to conduct research to overcome pathological fluor albus by utilizing natural ingredients that are believed to be easily obtained in the community, specifically bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) which are mixed into traditional ingredients. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bay leaf decoction for the healing of pathological fluor albus. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample included 56 respondents. Data were analyzed using a Paired T-test. A pretest was carried out before the intervention, followed by a demonstration of how to prepare the bay leaf decoction. For seven days, respondents were monitored twice a day and asked to complete a checklist as evidence that they had performed the rinsing, then submit a photo of the checklist via whatsapp. After the seven-day intervention period, a home visit was conducted to administer the posttest. Result: The results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (Z = -4.895; p-value = 0.000), with 30 respondents experiencing a reduction in symptoms. The intervention proved effective in reducing pathological vaginal discharge. Conclusion: Bay leaf decoction is effective in alleviating symptoms of pathological vaginal discharge, making it a promising herbal alternative for managing cases of pathological vaginal discharge.
