Abstract

Bahasa Muna merupakan salah satu bahasa daerah yang dituturkan oleh Masyarakat suku Muna yang ada di Sulawesi Tenggara. Bahasa Muna tergolong sebagai Bahasa vokalis karena setiap kata dalam bahasa tersebut selalu diakhiri dengan huruf vokal. Jika mengadopsi kosakata dari bahasa lain yang berakhiran fonem konsonan maka kosakata tersebut akan ditambahkan fonem vokal diakhir kata tersebut. Berdasarkan hal itu, usaha untuk menginventarisasi fonem bahasa Muna sangat penting untuk dilakukan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskripsi kualitatif. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan 200 kosakata dasar Swadesh. Langkah ini dilakukan untuk menginventarisasi fonem vokal yang ada dalam bahasa Muna di semua posisi, baik itu posisi, awal, tengah, maupun posisi akhir. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan bahwa fonem vokal bahasa Muna ditemukan pada semua posisi yaitu awal. tengah, dan akhir. Bahasa Muna tidak mengenal diftong namun, bahasa Muna mengenal vokal rangkap. Setiap kosaka kata dengan suku tertutup jika diserap dalam bahasa Muna akan diubah menjadi suku terbuka dengan cara menambahkan fonem vokal diakhir kata atau menghilangkan fonem konsonan di akhir kata itu.

Abstract

The research aims to explain the main character's mental process in the Horse Girl movie using Halliday's theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics. The descriptive qualitative research methodology was employed in this research. The Horse Girl movie served as data source downloaded from Netflix. The utterances of the main character is known as data. The downloading, viewing, reading, identifying (pause, annotate, screenshot), classifying, and encoding material that contains mental processes are all methods used to collect data. The researcher's findings are presented, described, interpreted, and concluded in order to apply data analysis methodologies. Based on the researcher's findings and data analysis, the researcher discovered that the data contained mental processes, they are perception, which came from analyzing the utterance that expressed Sarah's emotions; affection, which came from interpreting Sarah's responses on something; and cognition, which came from interpreting the utterance that highlighted Sarah's thinking and knowledge. The mental process is then dissected in order to create a comprehensive mental process that incorporates both participants which are senser and phenomenon.

Abstract

This study analyzes the use of deixis in Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony in the United States Congress, focusing on how deictic expressions contribute to meaning, positioning, and speaker-hearer relations in political discourse. Deixis, a central concept in pragmatics, refers to words and phrases such as pronouns, temporal expressions, and spatial indicators that require contextual information for interpretation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The primary data for this research consists of video recordings of Mark Zuckerberg’s congressional hearings in Youtube channel. The utterances of Mark Zuckerberg and Senators became the object of the research to be investigated. The findings show that the deictic markers employed during testimony in Congress categorized into three types; they are personal, temporal, and spatial deixis. Zuckerberg and Senators skillfully employs deixis to construct an image of accountability, collaboration, and respect, while subtly shifting responsibility through strategic pronoun use. By examining how deixis functions in Zuckerberg’s testimony, the research contributes to broader insights in political linguistics, discourse analysis, and pragmatics.
