Abstract

The lanting home industry in Cilacap Regency plays an important role in supporting the local economy. However, the predominantly manual production process places workers at risk of musculoskeletal disorders due to non-ergonomic working postures. This community service program aimed to improve occupational health among lanting workers through ergonomic education and the implementation of healthy work practices. The activity was conducted at one lanting home industry in Cilacap Regency and involved 30 workers. Evaluation was carried out using pre–post tests to assess changes in knowledge levels, complemented by observations of work behavior at the production site. The results showed a significant increase in workers’ knowledge, indicated by an increase in the proportion of workers in the high-knowledge category from 10% before the intervention to 73% after the intervention. Workers began to adopt better working postures, perform light stretching during work breaks, and demonstrated collective awareness by reminding each other to maintain proper working positions. The program proved to be effective, affordable, and easy to implement in improving awareness and healthy work behaviors in small-scale lanting home industries. This activity has the potential to be further developed as a simple ergonomic intervention model for similar traditional food industries.

Abstract

Household waste management at the village level remains a challenge due to limited facilities, low community participation, and the suboptimal implementation of community-based waste management systems. Sunyalangu Village, Karanglewas District, Banyumas Regency, with an estimated waste generation of approximately ±200 kg/day, did not yet have an adequate Temporary Waste Storage Facility (TPS), resulting in poorly coordinated waste management practices. This community service program aimed to strengthen the community-based waste management system through the construction of a TPS, the provision of waste segregation facilities, and community education and assistance. The program was implemented over one month involving 50 residents, the Community Self-Help Group (KSM), and village officials through initial surveys, TPS construction, education, assistance, and program evaluation using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The results showed the successful construction of one segregated TPS unit managed by the village KSM. Community participation in household waste segregation increased from 35% to 70%, regular TPS utilization increased from 30% to 65%, and community involvement in village clean-up activities increased from 40% to 68%. Community knowledge regarding waste management also improved, particularly related to waste types, the importance of waste segregation, and the function of the TPS. Observation results further indicated a reduction in illegal waste disposal practices within the village environment. Although the volume of managed waste has not yet been quantitatively measured, improvements in facilities, community participation, and governance indicate that the community-based approach has the potential to support a more structured and sustainable village waste management system.

Abstract

Proses pengeringan lanting pada industri rumah tangga masih didominasi oleh pekerjaan manual dengan fasilitas kerja yang belum mempertimbangkan aspek ergonomi. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan pekerja melakukan postur membungkuk, menjangkau, dan gerakan repetitif yang berpotensi meningkatkan risiko Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Penelitian bertujuan mengidentifikasi ergonomic need assessment berbasis antropometri pada proses pengeringan lanting sebagai dasar pengembangan rotary drying rack ergonomis. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif observasional dengan metode ergonomic need assessment terhadap 30 pekerja home industry lanting. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi aktivitas kerja, identifikasi faktor risiko ergonomi, pengukuran antropometri, dan analisis kebutuhan ergonomi. Variabel antropometri yang diukur meliputi tinggi badan, tinggi siku berdiri, tinggi bahu berdiri, rentang tangan depan, dan rentang tangan horizontal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas pengeringan masih didominasi postur kerja tidak ergonomis berupa membungkuk, menunduk, menjangkau, dan gerakan repetitif. Hasil penilaian REBA menunjukkan 90% pekerja berada pada kategori risiko sedang dan 10% pada kategori risiko tinggi, sedangkan keluhan MSDs sebagian besar berada pada kategori sedang (67%). Berdasarkan hasil ergonomic need assessment diperoleh rekomendasi desain rotary drying rack ergonomis dengan tinggi alat 150 cm, tinggi rak atas 130 cm, tinggi rak tengah 90 cm, tinggi rak bawah 50 cm, diameter tray 70 cm, tiga tingkat rak, sistem putar (lazy susan), dan roda caster.

Abstract

Wilayah pesisir Kelurahan Mertasinga, Kabupaten Cilacap, merupakan kawasan yang memiliki potensi risiko bencana tsunami sehingga memerlukan kesiapan masyarakat yang didukung oleh penerapan jalur evakuasi yang memadai. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi fisik jalur evakuasi, menilai persepsi masyarakat terhadap penerapan jalur evakuasi, serta menganalisis keterkaitannya dengan tingkat kesiapsiagaan masyarakat. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain observasional analitik dan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh masyarakat yang tinggal di wilayah rawan bencana di Kelurahan Mertasinga. Data diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada 55 responden yang dipilih berdasarkan probability sampling dengan teknik cluster random sampling, kemudian data dianalisis secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi fisik jalur evakuasi belum sepenuhnya memenuhi standar keselamatan bencana, terutama pada aspek rambu evakuasi, papan peta evakuasi, dan penandaan titik kumpul. Penilaian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden menilai penerapan jalur evakuasi dalam kategori kurang. Meskipun demikian, mayoritas masyarakat memiliki tingkat kesiapsiagaan yang baik. Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukkan adanya keterkaitan yang signifikan antara penerapan jalur evakuasi dan tingkat kesiapsiagaan masyarakat (p = 0,003). Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kualitas penerapan jalur evakuasi berperan penting dalam mendukung kesiapsiagaan masyarakat.
