Abstract

Abstract

This qualitative research delves into the perspectives of 240 Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta) on Maritime Transport Development in the Global Scale. Over a span of three semesters, these cadets undergo academic, mental, vocational, and professional preparation for internships in the shipping, cargo, or international delivery industry. The study aims to comprehensively understand their insights on the main opportunities, threats, and challenges in the dynamic landscape of global maritime transport. The findings reveal a collective awareness among cadets of the importance of academic preparedness, emphasizing the need for a seamless transition from theoretical knowledge to practical application. Linguistic proficiency, particularly in English Maritime, emerges as a central theme, highlighting its pivotal role in preparing cadets for international roles. The research illuminates a positive outlook on opportunities within the maritime sector, with cadets expressing enthusiasm for emerging technologies, automation, and sustainable practices. However, realistic concerns are voiced about potential threats such as job market saturation and the impact of automation on traditional roles. These concerns underscore the need for adaptive responses from educational institutions to equip cadets with skills relevant to the evolving industry. Challenges such as language barriers and limited exposure to real-world scenarios are identified, suggesting areas for improvement in maritime education. The implications of the research extend beyond STIP Jakarta, urging a more dynamic and responsive approach to maritime education globally. Recommendations include enhancing experiential learning, continuous language training, and incorporating emerging trends into curricula. The findings and recommendations provide a valuable roadmap for institutions seeking to prepare the next generation of maritime professionals for the complexities of the global maritime industry.

Abstract

The need for electrical energy from year to year is getting bigger along with the increasing growth of population and industry, especially in big cities in Indonesia. The need for electrical energy in Indonesia still depends on Electrical Energy provided by the Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). the main source of PLN's electrical energy is Fuel oil and Coal (50.01%). Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran as an educational institution seeks to support the government to reduce dependence on electrical energy produced with fossil fuels by seeking the potential of electrical energy sourced from renewable energy sources. One of the energies that has the potential as alternative energy is wind energy, where kinetic energy from the wind is utilized into electrical energy using wind turbines. For this reason, it is necessary to calculate the potential of wind energy as a renewable alternative energy at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran

Abstract

The main engine sea water cooling pump is a type of centrifugal pump as one of the pumps that is often found in the ship machinery industry working on the principle of impeller rotation as a fluid transfer element driven by a propulsion engine. The liquid inside will rotate due to the impetus of the blades and cause a centrifugal force which causes the liquid to flow from the middle of the impeller and out through between the blades and leave the impeller at high speed. The sea water cooling pump has a very important role in supporting the cooling system process on the main engine. If the coolant pump does not work properly, it will result in a less than optimal cooling system. Like the problems the author experienced when carrying out sea practice on the MT ship. This causes problems with the lack of maximum performance from the pump impeller and pump vibrations that are too high. which resulted in affecting the performance of the main engine and disrupting the operation of the ship. The purpose of this research is to find out the cause of the less than optimal performance of the impeller on the pump and find a solution. and to find out the cause of too high vibration in the pump and find a solution. While this research method is a qualitative descriptive research method. The results of this study are expected to be useful in science as a contribution to ideas related to the analysis of the performance of seawater cooling pumps to support ship operations.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of fiscal policies on maritime economics, focusing on macroeconomic stability, sector-specific resilience, and sustainability initiatives within maritime industries. Through qualitative analysis and expert perspectives, the study examines how fiscal interventions influence economic growth, address regional disparities, and promote environmental stewardship in maritime sectors. Key findings highlight the effectiveness of fiscal tools in stabilizing economic fluctuations, fostering innovation, and enhancing industry competitiveness. Challenges such as regulatory complexities, uneven distribution of fiscal benefits, and the need for enhanced fiscal transparency are also discussed. The research underscores the importance of tailored fiscal strategies that support inclusive growth, sustainable development, and global competitiveness in maritime economies.
