Abstract

Background: Broken home family conditions often affect children’s emotional development and character formation, particularly among juveniles in conflict with the law who undergo rehabilitation in juvenile correctional institutions. Objective: This study aims to analyse the dynamics of emotional behaviour and the factors influencing character development among juvenile inmates from broken home families at the Class II Juvenile Correctional Institution (LPKA) in Bengkulu City. Method: The study employed a qualitative case study to obtain an in-depth understanding of juveniles' emotional experiences. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with five juvenile inmates and two correctional officers, and analysis of relevant documentation. Result: The findings reveal that the juveniles experience complex emotional fluctuations, including sadness, anger, loneliness, and low self-esteem, which are triggered by family conflict, lack of parental attention, and negative social environments. Nevertheless, rehabilitation programs at the LPKA, such as counseling, spiritual activities, educational programs, and social activities, help the juveniles express and manage their emotions more constructively. Conclusion: The study concludes that a holistic, psychosocially supported rehabilitation approach is essential for promoting emotional stability and strengthening character development among juvenile inmates. Contribution: This study enriches the literature on the emotional dynamics of children from broken-home families in institutional rehabilitation contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of multicultural and transformative counseling approaches in counseling practice and their impact on counselee. Using a qualitative reflective-critical approach, the study collected data through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with counseling practitioners and counselee who have undergone counseling based on both approaches. The results show that, despite challenges in combining techniques from both approaches, counselee reported positive changes in their self-awareness and sense of identity. Practitioners who are sensitive to cultural diversity and adapt their counseling techniques reflectively to meet the needs of counselee are more successful in creating a safe and effective counseling space. This study concludes that the integration of multicultural and transformative counseling can have a significant impact on counselee but requires flexibility and critical reflection from practitioners. The implications of this study highlight the need for ongoing training for practitioners to develop skills in effectively integrating both approaches while considering cultural factors in every counseling session.

Abstract

Background: Juvenile inmates face moral challenges due to past delinquency and lack of guidance. Religious programs in correctional settings offer potential for rehabilitation, yet their role remains underexplored. Objective: This study explores the role of religious guidance in rehabilitating juvenile inmates at LPKA. It aims to analyze the implementation process, behavioral changes, and factors influencing religious guidance programs. Method: A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving 10 informants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Result: Findings indicate that daily religious activities, including Qur’an recitation, congregational prayers, religious lectures, and dhikr, contribute significantly to behavioral improvements. Juvenile inmates exhibited a transition from negative traits (harsh language, indifference, and misconduct) to positive behaviors (politeness, care for parents, and peaceful interactions). Conclusion: Religious activities play a crucial role in fostering moral and behavioral transformation among juvenile inmates. Self-motivation, family support, staff, and religious mentors serve as supporting factors, while self-resistance and peer influence act as challenges. Contribution: This research underscores the importance of religious guidance as an effective rehabilitation tool, providing valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and social workers in designing more effective rehabilitation programs for juvenile inmates.

Abstract

Objective: Islamic Education in elementary schools still uses a classical model, which results in students being less active, not independent, and many failing to achieve the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). Objective: This study aims to examine the implementation of the Talking Stick learning model in improving Islamic Education learning outcomes for students at SD Negeri 95 Bengkulu Selatan. Method: The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research, which consists of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Results: There was a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle, the average student score was 65.7 with a mastery percentage of 40%. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 73.1 with a mastery percentage of 55%. In Cycle II, the average score increased further to 83, with a mastery percentage of 90%, indicating that the Talking Stick model is effective in improving student learning outcomes. Conclusion: The application of the Talking Stick model in Islamic Education at SD Negeri 95 Bengkulu Selatan successfully improved student learning outcomes. This improvement is reflected in the increased average scores and mastery percentage, which reached 90% in Cycle II, surpassing the established KKM. Contribution: This study contributes by offering a more effective alternative learning model, namely the Talking Stick model, which teachers can use to enhance students’ active participation, motivation, and learning outcomes in Islamic Education. It is also expected to provide insights for teachers to use more interactive and enjoyable learning models in the classroom.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of parental parenting styles on children's personality development in high school students, focusing on how authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting styles affect children's character. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through questionnaires given to parents and students, as well as interviews to obtain more in-depth information about the parenting styles applied. Data analysis was performed using regression tests to determine the influence of parenting styles on children's personality development. Result: Parental parenting styles have a significant influence on children's personality development. Authoritative parenting is associated with better self-esteem, independence, and social skills, while authoritarian and permissive parenting tends to hinder children's positive development. Abstract

Background: Gender issues in education, including Islamic education, remain an important issue because learning practices and educational content often reproduce gender bias and inequality. Although Islam normatively upholds the principles of justice and equality, in educational practice, there is still a gap between Islamic teachings and their implementation. Objective: This study aims to examine the concept of gender from an Islamic perspective and analyze its implementation in learning management and educational content. Method: This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical library research design. Data were collected through documentation techniques on the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith as well as relevant academic literature, then analyzed using content analysis. Result: Gender inequality in education is caused more by social constructs and partial religious interpretations than by Islamic teachings themselves. Gender-responsive learning management and the development of gender-sensitive educational content have been proven to be crucial in creating a fair and inclusive learning process. Conclusion: The integration of a gender perspective in Islamic education is a strategic step toward realizing an education that aligns with the values of justice and humanity. Contribution: This study strengthens the conceptual framework of gender-perspective Islamic education, serving as both an academic and practical reference for creating more inclusive and equitable education.
