Abstract

The Text of the Play Macbeth Transformation (1603-1607) by William Shakespeare into Film Throne of Blood or Kumonosu-Jo (1957) by Akira Kuroswa. Transformation from play to film is one of the common literary works. The writer of the play and the readers of the literary, however, face many differences in the film as the result of transformation process. These differences are also found at both; a play Macbeth by William Shakespeare while the film Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa. These two literary works are the object of material in this research. The basic differences between a play and film are that each has its own medium. The medium of film is pictures and music’s. Meanwhile, the medium of novel is language. Thus, there could be a certain plot appeared in film but not in novel or vice versa. Furthermore; this research is merely limited on the differences of kernel and satellite between play and film. Eventually, the various changes of the function lead to the differences in plot. These changes of the function lead to the differences are analyzed by making use of intertextuality theory. The result of this research indicates that the number of kernel and satellite of film is fewer than the one of literary. It happens because of the limited duration of the time. Eventually, there are many variations of setting of time, of place, and of participants. Next, the final result of this research is that there are several changes of function which lead to the differences both in literary and film.

Abstract

The process of distributing films can be understood as a way for a film to be introduced to the market and made accessible to its intended audience or viewers. Since the inception of the storyline concept by the production parties, the distribution plan has been readily available in the film industry. This implies that the distribution strategy has been a focus for the Producers and Directors even prior to engaging in the three essential stages of film production, namely pre-production, production, and post-production. Film, being a result of imaginative and artistic representation, cannot be dissociated from the cultural and societal environment which both creates and consumes it. Distribution strategies in the film industry need to be aligned with the ability to preserve the filmmaker's vision and aspirations, ensuring the movie is showcased in suitable screening venues and resonates with the intended audience. This Thesis contains research on the distribution channel of the film Photocopier, which was distributed to meet the audience or audiences that have been projected or designed from the start, and are intended to be marketed to. In the context of the film Photocopier, distribution has been carried out and aligned with the vision of the Director and Producer. Photocopier is the first feature film by Wregas Bhanuteja and as its distribution debut, Photocopier went according to expectations where this film managed to attain achievements, gain appreciation, and grow in reputation, as well as achieving financial success.

Abstract

Cirebon Regency boasts numerous art studios dedicated to promoting local culture. One such studio is Sanggar Langgeng Panggalih. This study investigates the leadership role of Anung Suyatna in managing Sanggar Langgeng Panggalih in Kalianyar Village, Cirebon Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive research method with a case study approach, the analysis uses George Terry's POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management function theory and the situational leadership style of the Path-Goal approach theory developed by Robert House to understand the leadership style applied by Anung Suyatna in management of the Sanggar Langgeng Panggaalih studio. The results of the research show that the management system of Sanggar Langgeng Panggaalih involves members in the form of participation and freedom of opinion where studio members are involved in decision-making and the overall management process. It can be concluded that Anung Suyatna applies a participative leadership style. The achievement of management objectives is evident from the increasing offering of performances by Sanggar Langgeng Panggaalih and studio students are also starting to take part in many performance activities, especially the mask dance training program. This proves the effectiveness of Anung Suyatna's leadership style in achieving the management goals of Sanggar Langgeng Panggalih.

Abstract

The Art Collaboration Performance "Melumat Limit" is an art platform that collaborates more than one branch of art that is realized into a performance. "Melumat Limit" is interpreted as fighting and defeating existing boundaries but not completely eliminating them. This creation explains the steps of managing a performance, especially the Art Collaboration Performance "Melumat Limit". The method used by the author in the creation of the Performing Arts Collaboration "Melumat Limit" is qualitative with an approach to event management, contemporary dramaturgy and aesthetics. This creation aims to provide an alternative space for artists and audiences in organizing a performance, as a way of articulating art, and as a reference for learning about the process of creating an art collaboration performance. A performance art creation is briefly divided into three stages, namely pre-production, production or technical management, and post-production. Many stages are carried out to realize an art collaboration performance. Knowledge of equipment is also something that must be considered, considering the various types of equipment that must be in accordance with the needs.

Abstract

The socio-cultural diversity of Yogyakarta society has the opportunity to foster traditional arts. However, the obstacle felt by the community is the lack of support for cultural facilities and infrastructure. So, the Regional Government needs to intervene to support its development, one of which is in the form of art equipment assistance. In 2022, the Yogyakarta Special Region Cultural Office provided gamelan grants to art groups. The Mutio Raras Karawitan Art Society became one of the recipients of Gamelan grants. Behind the gamelan grant activities carried out, there is a selection mechanism so that the implementation of this grant achieves its goal of preserving traditional artistic values and providing facilities and infrastructure assistance. This research aims to find out, explain, and analyze the mechanism for distributing gamelan grants to the Mutio Raras Karawitan Art Society. This research applies descriptive qualitative methods through data collection techniques from observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The theoretical approach used is distribution management, grants, and gamelan. The results showed that the iron gamelan grant mechanism given to the Mutio Raras Karawitan Art Society in fiscal year 2022 was well implemented. The conclusion of this study is that the mechanism carried out is in accordance with the management theory used, namely, organizing, implementing, and controlling and evaluating. There are obstacles in the implementation stage carried out, namely the lack of human resources, which hinders the efficiency of the work carried out.
