Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted to measure students' conceptual understanding of chemical bonds. The test through an online form includes a two-level test—a total of 50 students who have studied chemical bonds as research subjects. The method used is quantitative through analysis with the dichotomous Rasch model. A total of seven sub-concepts of chemical bonds have been tested on students through a two-level test, namely questions, and reasons. The questions given were declared valid and reliable according to the Rasch model. The concept that is considered the most difficult for students is the description of orbitals and molecular hybridization

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design a four-tier diagnostic test instrument on electron configurations and quantum numbers that can be used to analyze misconceptions. The four-level diagnostic test instrument is an assessment instrument that functions to assess students' conceptual comprehension  in understanding a subject matter. The four tier test has four levels, namely knowledge questions, confidence questions in completing questions, reasons for answering questions, and confidence in giving reasons. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with the stages of analyzing the problem, collecting data, product design, validating the design, and conducting instrument trials. The results showed that the designed diagnostic instruments were feasible and reliable. Instrument test results indicate that indicator a) determines the magnitude of the four quantum numbers (n,ℓ,mℓ, ms) in an orbital; b) identify the characteristics and functions of the azimuth quantum number (ℓ); c) determine the spin magnetic quantum number (ms) of the electron in the orbital; and d) determine the spin magnetic quantum number (ms) of a single electron in an orbital, which is the most misunderstood.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce an instrument for assessing students' communication skills and creativity in the Chempreneurship course. This research is a development research that uses the 4D model. This assessment instrument contains a theoretical description, a lattice of communication and creativity skills assessment instruments and communication and creativity skills assessment sheets that have been validated by experts and tested. The results of this study are a communication skills and creativity research instrument that is feasible to use, valid, and reliable. The instrument is declared fit for use if the results of the expert appraisal test with CVI obtain a score of ≥ 0.8. The results of the expert appraisal test for communication instruments with CVI obtained a score of 0.88 and a creativity instrument of 0.90. The results of the development testing of the communication skills instrument obtained 16 items, which were declared valid and reliable with a reliability value of 0.891. The results of the development testing of the creativity instrument show that all items are declared valid and reliable with a reliability value of 0.854. The result of the development instrument is feasible to measure communication skills and creativity.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of STEAM Project-based chemistry learning assisted by ChemSketch on the learning outcomes and creative thinking abilities of students at SMA N 1 Kendal. This research is quantitative research using the Quasi Experimental method. The quasi experimental design in this research is nonequivalent control group design. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling technique. The population of this study was all students in class XII MIPA SMA N 1 Kendal. Chemistry learning using the STEAM Project approach has a moderate effect in improving student learning outcomes as evidenced by the t-test value of the difference between two average learning outcomes of 0.031 (sig. (2 tailed) < 0.05) which means Ha is accepted and the Effect Size test of 0.53. Meanwhile, the STEAM Project approach in this research had no effect on students' creative thinking abilities due to the lack of variety of questions and limited time during learning. This is proven by the t-test, the difference between the two average creative thinking abilities is 0.109 (sig. (2 tailed) > 0.05).

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the physical and chemical quality of the groundwater in the Jerakah flats area and to determine the feasibility of the water as drinking water. This research was physically carried out by analyzing groundwater samples from the rented flats of the Jerakah sub-district based on the physical parameters of the air, including taste, color, smell, temperature, turbidity, and dissolved solids (TDS) as well as chemical parameters consisting of the degree of acidity. (pH), Nitrate Content (NO3-), Nitrite (NO2-), Hardness (CaCO3), Iron (Fe), Lead (Pb), Manganese (Mn), Zinc (Zn), Sulfate (SO42-), Cadmium (Cd), and Chromium (Cr). The results showed that the groundwater in the Jerakah flats had a normal pH, colorless, tasteless, odorless, low turbidity, and high dissolved solids (TDS). The levels of iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and hardness are below the maximum hygienic sanitary limits. Manganese (Mn), Cadmium (Mn), Lead (Pb) levels exceed the maximum limit for drinking water. The groundwater in the Jerakah flat is suitable for use for hygienic sanitation, such as bathing and washing, but not suitable for drinking.
