Abstract

Caring for the congregation through the presence of ethnic music in weekly worship and religious festivals brings a new atmosphere to the Eliezer congregation in Sentani. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the forms, impacts, and meanings of ethnic music in the Eliezer Sentani congregation. The ethnic music and singing are a collaboration of six different ethnic groups: Papua, Maluku, NTT, Sulawesi (Toraja-Minahasa), Java, and North Sumatra (Batak). The method used is a qualitative descriptive method that employs data triangulation through document analysis, observation, and two types of interviews: focused interviews and free interviews. Data is analyzed by combining these three data sources and then providing a description and conclusions about the observed phenomenon. The results of this research reveal that the worship with ethnic nuances in GPI Eliezer Sentani can be seen in terms of its form, meaning, and impact. The form of worship with ethnic elements involves traditional music components in various combinations, serving the purpose of adding aesthetics and color to worship and devotion. In terms of meaning, the use of ethnic music in worship acts as a means of promoting culture and as a tool for unity and togetherness. Regarding its impact, the use of ethnic music in worship has led to an improvement in the quality and quantity of congregation members participating in the worship.

Abstract

This study examines the use of number notation as a practical tool for reading musical chords, focusing on its application by singers during preparation for worship performances. The structural foundation of music—comprising melody, harmony, rhythm, and dynamics—serves as a basis for understanding and interpreting musical pieces. Combining this foundation with number notation facilitates high-quality and expressive musical performances by vocalists and instrumentalists. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observations and interviews with singers at GKI Martin Luther Sentani. The findings reveal that singers have incorporated number notation techniques during independent practice sessions to enhance their readiness for Sunday worship performances. While the application is not yet perfect, these techniques have significantly contributed to their preparation. Key techniques include acquiring basic knowledge of number notation, practicing mindfulness in singing, using online tutorials for guidance, collaborating with peers during practice, and maintaining consistency in rehearsal routines. The study underscores the importance of number notation as a foundational tool for singers to improve their performance quality. It highlights how structured and consistent practice can aid in mastering the notation and enhance musical expression in worship contexts. These findings provide valuable insights for music educators and church communities seeking to optimize preparation and performance processes in similar settings.

Abstract

Community Service Activities (PkM) by the Church Music Department at GKI Hermon Hollo Him aims to improve the atmosphere of Sunday worship through the integration of various musical elements. The main problem faced is the lack of music that can touch the hearts of the congregation and deepen their spiritual experience. This activity is also a vehicle to enrich the worship experience by using musical ensembles, soloists, song leaders and keyboard players. The method used is demonstration, where lecturers and students apply their musical knowledge in Sunday services at the church. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the quality of worship music. The ensemble's musical performance combines instruments such as keyboard, violin, flute, and saxophone, along with a medley of Kidung Jemaat 387 and Papuan folk songs, creating a deep harmony that enriches the worship experience and celebrates cultural richness. The soloist's appearance and support from the keyboard player add an emotional and spiritual dimension. Song leaders also play an important role in leading the congregation, creating togetherness and quality song delivery. In conclusion, this PkM succeeded in deepening the spiritual experience and improving the atmosphere of worship at GKI Hermon Hollo Him as a whole.

Abstract

Singing training was conducted using the Zoltán Kodály approach for early childhood education and kindergarten teachers in Jayapura Regency to address the need to improve teachers' competence in effective music teaching for young children. Gaps in music education, caused by a lack of professional training, affect teachers' ability to integrate music in children's cognitive and social development. This service activity aims to empower teachers with the Kodály method, which uses simple and familiar songs to teach basic music concepts in a fun and interactive way. This service activity was carried out using the direct demonstration method by STAKPN Sentani Church Music Department lecturers, who practiced using the Kodály method with children's songs. The training results showed increased teachers' understanding of how music can be used as an effective educational tool, such as the Zoltán Kodály approach. In conclusion, the training made a real contribution to improving the quality of music teaching in PAUD and TK and supporting children's cognitive, social, and emotional development through a holistic and creative approach.

Abstract

Purpose: The Ward method makes it easier for trainers and children to improve their singing quality. The purpose of this study was to determine how to improve singing development in Sunday school children using the Ward method. Method: The method used is the Classroom Action Method (CAR) with 4 stages carried out, namely planning, implementation/action , observing, and reflecting. Results and Discussion: The results of the implementation of the Ward method in singing show that it is very good to be applied to children who do not understand well how to read notation in songs. Their enthusiasm for learning has increased significantly. In the pre-cycle, the development of recognizing notations that appeared in children was 7 children who had not developed, with a presentation of 23.3%. Children who began to develop amounted to 10, with a presentation of 33.3%. Children who developed as expected amounted to 8, with a presentation of 26.33%, and children who developed very well amounted to 5, with a presentation of 16.6%. Conclusion: It developed in cycle 1 to 0 children who had not developed, 4 children who began to develop, 10 children who developed as expected, and 16 children who developed very well. In cycle 2, children's development in understanding notation in songs increased to 7 children who experienced development as expected (23.33%) and 23 children who experienced very good development (76.66%).

Abstract

Proses belajar mengajar (PBM) seringkali dihadapkan pada materi yang abstrak dan di luar pengalaman siswa sehari-hari, sehingga materi menjadi sulit diajarkan guru dan sulit dipahami siswa. Berbagai materi yang berkaitan dengan sejarah masa lalu akan lebih konkrit dan mudah dipahami apabila disampaikan oleh guru dengan media visual layaknya gambar dan foto. Metode penelitian yaang digunakan adalah metode penelitian pengembangan dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan penyebaran angket.adapun dalam penulisan ini menggunakan teknik kuantitatif,selanjutnya untuk menganalisis penulis menggunakan skala likert dan untuk menentukan hasil akhir menggunakan teknik analisi data. Hasil penelitian yang penulis lakukan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap mata pelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan kesimpulan pada bab pembahasan maka penulis mengajukan saran-saran sebagai berikut: adanya pengembagan baru dalam sistem belajar dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran yang lebih menarik seperti media gambar,media audio,bahkan bisa dalam bentuk yang lainnya agar siswa lebih termotivasi dan menangkap materi dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Paduan suara kini telah mendapat perhatian yang lebih dikarenakan adanya event-event yang diselenggarakan setiap tahunnya. Paduan suara juga bukan hanya sekedar menyanyikan satu pujian secara berkelompok dengan pembagian suara baik dua suara, tiga suara, empat suara bahkan delapan suara, tetapi untuk menghasilkan paduan suara yang baik dan benar perlu adanya latihan yang cukup baik fisik dan dari segi vokal maupun unsur musik sampai pada intepretasinya. Jemaat GKI Onomi Felavauw di Klasis Sentani menjadi salah satu jemaat yang juga memiliki kelompok paduan suara didalamnya melibatkan setiap unsur baik kaum bapak, ibu dan juga pemuda/pemudi. Untuk menghasilkan paduan suara baik dalam jemaat dibutuhkan upaya-upaya yang harus dilakukan salah satunya adalah meningkatkan produksi vokal dan pernafasan yang baik dan benar peneliti menggunakan pendekatan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif untuk melihat dan memaparkan dengan rinci tentang bagaimana proses Latihan paduan suara dan apa sajah upaya yang dilakukan untuk miningkatan Paduan Suara Jemaat dalam Jemaat GKI Onomi di Felavauw. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang didapat adalah upaya yang dilakukan yaitu dengan mengasah kemampuan vokal paduan suara dapat memberikan dampak yang positif terkhususnya bagi setiap penyanyi, baik sopran, alto, tenor dan bass yaitu membentuk vokal bernyanyi paduan suara yang baik dan benar dengan menggunakan teori Agatya Rama Listya. Selain itu juga hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian ini mampu mendorong anggota paduan suara untuk mempunyai semangat dalam bernyanyi dan memuliakan Allah lewat talenta yang dianugerahkan.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman dan mengembangkan kemampuan mendasar dalam mempelajarasi Notasi dan Teori dasar Musik bagi Siswa SMP di Kabupaten Jayapura. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan mengingat pemahaman dasar Notasi merupakan komponen utama yang harus dipahami dalam pembelajaran seni musik. Namun fakta di lapangan, menunjukkan bahwa kebanyakan Siswa SMP masih minim dalam penguasaan notasi dan teori dasar Musik. Minimnya pengetahuan ini berimplikasi pada kesulitaan siswa dalam mempelajari Mata Pelajaran Seni terutama Seni Musik, sehingga siswa sulit untuk memahami lagu-lagu yang diberikan, cenderung hanya menguasai lagu yang sudah ada, siswa sulit untuk berkreasi dengan ide sendiri dalam memahami Pembelajaran Seni Musik. Sebagai perwujudan nilai Moderasi Beragama Pengabdian masyarakat ini melibatkan Siswa SMP dari berbagai kalangan, meliputi perwakilan Kristen, perwakilan Katolik, Perwakilan Islam, Perwakilan Hindu dan Perwakilan Buddha. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman Siswa SMP terhadap notasi musik dan teori dasar musik. Antusiasme, Motivasi dan Keaktifan para Siswa SMP dalam mengikuti pelatihan terlihat melalui serangkaian praktik dan latihan berulang pada peserta. Pemahaman mulai meningkat terhadap Notasi dan Teori Dasar Musik. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan ini berpotensi untuk memperluas kreativitas dan pemahaman Siswa SMP terhadap pembelajaran Seni Musik.
