Abstract

This study aimed to assess hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination rates among healthcare professionals and understand their knowledge about HBV transmission. Conducted in a healthcare setting, the research employed survey methods to collect data on vaccination status and awareness levels. Alarmingly, only 25% of healthcare workers were found to be vaccinated against HBV, highlighting a significant gap in protection. Additionally, a considerable lack of awareness regarding HBV transmission was observed among the participants. These findings underscore the urgent need for targeted vaccination campaigns and educational initiatives within primary healthcare environments. The study advocates for mandatory HBV vaccination as a condition of employment for healthcare workers, coupled with ongoing infection prevention and control training. Further research is recommended to explore the prevalence of HBV infection among healthcare professionals in primary care settings and to assess the broader implications for public health. This study serves as a critical call to action for healthcare systems to prioritize HBV vaccination and education, thereby safeguarding both healthcare providers and patients from HBV infection risks. Highlights : Low Vaccination Rates: Only 25% of healthcare workers are vaccinated against HBV, indicating a critical need for improved vaccination coverage in healthcare settings. Knowledge Deficit: There is a significant lack of awareness among healthcare professionals about HBV transmission, necessitating educational programs. Policy Implications: The study advocates for mandatory HBV vaccination for healthcare workers, emphasizing the importance of infection control measures for public health safety. Abstract

Nurses are critical in enhancing the quality of care and patient safety due to their commitment to caring for patients 24 hours a day and their interaction with families and other health professionals. The role of gender in the interprofessional team is more complex and warrants further investigation, even though it has been increasingly studied at the level of the individual healthcare provider. In this study, we examined sex differences in patient safety culture practices among nurses. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional design at a general public hospital in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia. The hospital survey on patient safety culture (HSPSC) was used. A chi-square test and an independent t-test were used to determine whether there were any differences in patient safety culture practice between the sexes. A total of 75 males and 145 females agreed to join this study. The mean age of female and male participants was 34.21 ± 14.07 and 36.29 ± 12.51 years old, respectively. Age, marital status, and working position were significantly different between males and females (p < 0.05). Females reported to have a higher overall score of patient safety culture practices than males (3.65 (SD = 1.12 vs. 3.11 (SD = 1.43), p-value = 0.001). According to the patient safety culture practice domain, teamwork (4.21 (SD = 1.35) vs. 3.78 (SD = 1.76), p-value = 0.001), response to error (3.56 (SD = 1.93) vs. 3.31 (SD = 1.93), p-value = 0.001), and communication openness (3.881.56 vs. 2.35 (SD = 0.92), p-value = 0.001) were higher among female than male. Nurses must be trained, and professional communication must be improved as a means of ensuring better patient safety. Patient safety cultures vary widely across hospitals, units, and countries, as evidenced by the growing number of studies that have looked at this issue in depth.

The general objective of this study is to examine the effect of mobile application on mental health among adolescents in Depok, Indonesia. Experimental design is research used to find the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. The target population in this study were adolescents aged 15-18 years, and studied in senior high school students. The social media Safe App (bilingual: Indonesia-English language) was developed as a mobile app. The instrument used in this study was DASS-21 scale. The difference between the intervention group and the control group in terms of the average scores on mental health in the control group and in the intervention, group was determined using a bivariate analysis with a paired t-test. Of 200 adolescents in the intervention group, the mean age was 16.37 (SD+2.55), 60% male, and (60%) of them used internet as a source of information. While, in the control group their mean age was 16.34 (SD=2.39), 58.5% male, and 55% of them used internet as a source of information. In the intervention group, DASS score was significantly decreased 5.26 times before intervention and after one month intervention (post-test), with pvalue=0.000. While in the control group, no significant decreased on a total score of DASS (pvalue>0.05. The results of this study can be used as a reference for other researchers who will develop research on the impact of social media use on mental health disorders. Developing a mobile application or website to measure the level of addiction on social media with usage notifications that exceed the safe duration of social media use to limit the intensity of social media use time as a preventive tool against mental health disorders.
