Abstract

Optimization and innovation are necessary to enhance the resilience of transportation, particularly through the improvement of connections. Connections play a crucial role, especially in structural designs that often utilize various types of joints. The use of composite connection components inspired by nature, such as tree branch connections, can be a solution to improve joint resilience. Tree branch connections exhibit desired structural properties, including strength, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damage tolerance. The application of Advanced Additive Manufacturing, such as stereo-lithography, is employed to integrate fiber structures in joint designs. These joints aim to replace bolts and nuts, which can damage load-bearing fibers and increase local stresses. Testing indicates that tree branch-inspired joint designs, especially with 37.5% embedding, provide the most optimal results with the best values for stress, displacement, and safety factors compared to other joint design variations.

Abstract

As time goes by, temperatures in Indonesia have increased quite drastically. According to daily BMKG data, the average temperature in Banyuwangi Regency is between 240C – 330C (BMKG, 2023). Installing an air conditioner (AC) is considered very necessary to obtain a comfortable temperature in the body. There are several methods to get the right AC capacity (PK) according to the size of the room. The data collection method for this research was carried out by measuring and observing each room in the Banyuwangi State Polytechnic Integrated Lecture Building. When measuring, the data taken includes the length and width of the room. Then proceed with observing the type of AC installed in the room and then analyzing it with the technical specifications used. By comparing the name of the plate with the measurement results, it can be seen that all rooms comply with the AC capacity installation standards. In the Poliwangi Integrated Lecture Building, the indoor AC uses a Cassette type AC, where the AC is installed on the ceiling. The AC system used in the GKT Poliwangi building uses a VRF AC system using single channel ducting. The object of measurement includes the length and width of the room and then multiplied by 500 (the value of 500 is obtained from the average height of the room not exceeding 5 meters). VRF AC cleaning maintenance efforts are usually carried out every 3-6 months.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors causing delays in construction projects in Songgon District, Banyuwangi Regency, and to analyze the influence of each factor on project delays. The research method employed is quantitative, using a descriptive and analytical survey approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 66 respondents consisting of contractors, supervising consultants, project owners, and material suppliers. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical techniques, Relative Importance Index (RII), Severity Index (SI), and Importance Index (II). The results show that the most dominant factors contributing to delays are difficult access to material transportation, unfavorable weather conditions, and a shortage of skilled labor, which have the highest RII and SI values. The Importance Index (II) analysis indicates that these factors are also considered highly significant in influencing project delays. This study provides important insights into the local factors affecting construction project delays in Eastern Indonesia, particularly in Banyuwangi Regency, and offers recommendations for mitigating delay risks through infrastructure improvements, more realistic planning, and enhancement of skilled labor availability. This research is expected to serve as a reference for contractors, project owners, and related parties in managing construction projects in areas with similar geographical and socio-economic characteristics

Abstract

Rapid motorization in Indonesia has intensified congestion not only in metropolitan areas but also in secondary urban centers such as Genteng District, Banyuwangi, where a single arterial corridor supports commercial and inter-district mobility. However, research addressing congestion mitigation in semi-urban road networks through strategic traffic diversion remains limited. This study evaluates the effectiveness of an alternative road routing strategy in reducing congestion along Jalan Gajah Mada using VISSIM-based microscopic simulation. Two scenarios were compared: the existing condition and a diversion strategy rerouting vehicles through Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim. Key performance indicators—average travel time, speed, queue length, and level of service (LoS)—were analyzed. Results reveal significant performance improvements despite a longer physical route: travel time decreased by 25.8%, speed increased by 143.6%, queue length reduced by 44.9%, and LoS improved from E to D. These findings highlight the potential of strategically planned traffic diversion to enhance mobility in semi-urban settings. The study is limited to peak-hour traffic and a single diversion scenario, suggesting the need for further evaluation with multimodal and multi-scenario analyses.

Abstract

Efficient project delivery is a critical requirement for rural road rehabilitation programs, yet empirical evaluations of implementation efficiency remain limited. This study analyzes the time and estimated cost efficiency of the Papring Hotmix Road Rehabilitation Project in Kalipuro District, Banyuwangi, using a descriptive quantitative case study approach based on weekly and monthly project documentation. Project performance was measured by comparing baseline planning with field realization, supported by calculations of time efficiency, deviation analysis, and cost implication estimation derived from work-weight distribution. The project was completed in 55 days, significantly faster than the 120-day planned duration, resulting in a time efficiency of 54.17% and a maximum positive deviation of +76.32% at completion. Major work components: AC-WC (65.616%), AC-BC (18.249%), and aggregate base layer (12.436%), were executed intensively between Weeks 4 and 7, enabling a shortened execution period that suggests potential savings in indirect project costs such as overhead, labor, and field operations. Acceleration was driven by effective technical scheduling, early resource mobilization, optimized labor deployment, and strong contractor–consultant coordination. The findings highlight the importance of structured progress evaluation for improving scheduling and cost control in rural road rehabilitation projects. Future work should incorporate financial realization data and risk-productivity modelling to strengthen efficiency assessment in accelerated infrastructure delivery.

Abstract

Trenggalek Regency still faces challenges in the form of isolated villages around watersheds that have not been fully reached by development results. This condition results in underdeveloped pockets of villages whose main characteristics are the difficulty of accessing clean water. This limitation is due to surface water conditions and regional topography that generally do not allow the construction of large irrigation constructions. At the beginning of the Five-Year Development program (Repelita II), the government launched the Presidential Instruction on Disadvantaged Villages with the aim of improving the living standards of people in disadvantaged villages. This study examines the alternative solution to the problem of clean water supply based on topographic conditions and rainfall in the area, namely through the construction of a reservoir as a means of holding relatively small water. This reservoir functions as a water bath that can be used in the dry season. Given the relatively small scale of the built irrigation buildings, all aspects of the building, from the construction to the economic aspect, cannot be compared to the existence of large irrigation buildings. This research aims to provide practical and economical solutions in providing clean water for disadvantaged villages in Trenggalek Regency.
