Abstract

The problem experienced by cattle farmers in this community service activity is that it is difficult to provide green fodder for ruminant livestock during the dry season. This community service activity aimed to increase students' knowledge and skills in making silage for ruminant livestock feed. This silage feed technology application program involved lecturers, students, and farmer groups through the methods: 1) pre-test, 2) socialization, 3) training with direct demonstrations, 4) feed application simulation, 5) conducting evaluations, and 6) post-test. The results of this activity showed that all livestock group participants were able to produce high quality silage to support animal feed management. Apart from that, the group also gave a good response in understanding the material provided with an increase in the average score of the post-test given. So it was concluded that the farmer group was able to make silage continuously and independently by choosing quality and easy to obtain materials.

Abstract

The community service aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of various livestock and the importance of animal-derived food products as the foundation for a healthy and nutritious life. One of the potentials for children's intelligence comes from consuming healthy food products. Activities were carried out using exposure and evaluation methods through pre-test and post-test. The activity results showed increased students' knowledge, with the average pre-test score being 50.74 and the average post-test score after the material presentation being 83.70.  During the activity, students were seen as enthusiastic about the material presented. In conclusion, this activity improved knowledge regarding the recognition of various livestock and animal-derived food products. Students were able to enhance their understanding of various ruminant and poultry livestock based on their characteristics and names. Additionally, students better understood the sources of healthy and nutritious animal protein food products.

Abstract

Buffalo is a large ruminant animal that can be used as a producer of meat, milk and work. Apart from that, buffalo also have a high carcass percentage. Gayo buffalo are a local livestock resource, whose maintenance is carried out using an extensive system or is released into livestock. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of breeders in raising Gayo Buffalo to produce Gayo Buffalo with superior characteristics in accordance with National Standard No.8292-6:2023. The method for implementing this activity included observation and socialization regarding the characteristics of Gayo Buffalo livestock. Community service activities were carried out in Pantan Nangka Village, Linge District, Central Aceh Regency, which were attended by local breeders. The results of the activities showed that all participants in the farmer group were able to properly understand and recognize the characteristics of Gayo buffalo and gain knowledge related to good buffalo breeding management.

Abstract

Stunting adalah masalah kesehatan akibat kekurangan gizi jangka panjang yang menghambat pertumbuhan anak. Susu kambing segar, yang kaya akan protein, vitamin, dan mineral, dapat mendukung pertumbuhan tulang dan otot. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas nutrisi silky pudding susu kambing segar yang disimpan pada suhu dingin sebagai makanan tambahan untuk mencegah stunting. Menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), penelitian ini mengamati kualitas protein, pH, dan sifat organoleptik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Silky Pudding dari susu kambing segar yang disimpan di suhu dingin mempertahankan kualitasnya, penyimpanan tiga hari masih memberikan kualitas terbaik dengan kandungan protein tertinggi dan nilai pH yang stabil, kadar protein yaitu 4,74-5,30% dan nilai pH yaitu 6,25-6,50, serta masih disukai oleh anak-anak.
