Abstract

The growth of the Islamic banking industry requires these institutions to not only focus on their financial performance, but also maintain their reputation as a reflection of social legitimacy and public trust. This study aims to analyze the effect of non-halal income, zakat, and the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS) on the reputation of Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia and Malaysia for the period 2018–2024. This study uses a comparative quantitative approach with a purposive sampling method targeting 7 BUS in Indonesia and 6 BUS in Malaysia and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that in Indonesia, non-halal income has no significant effect on reputation, while zakat and DPS have a positive and significant effect. In Malaysia, non-halal income has a negative and significant effect on reputation, while zakat and DPS have a positive and significant effect. These results indicate that compliance with sharia and corporate governance play an important role in building the reputation of Islamic banks, with differences in influence influenced by regulatory characteristics and supervisory systems in each country.

Abstract

Regional economic growth is influenced not only by output expansion but also by the effective utilization of production factors. Bandar Lampung City, as the economic center of Lampung Province, has experienced fluctuating growth, requiring an analysis of its determinants. This study examines the effects of investment, labor, and education on economic growth from an Islamic economics perspective during 2012–2024. A quantitative associative approach was applied using secondary time-series data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method after classical assumption tests. The results show that labor has a negative and significant effect, while investment and education have positive but insignificant effects. Simultaneously, all variables significantly influence economic growth. These findings emphasize the importance of the quality and effectiveness of production factors in promoting equitable regional economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of access to education and healthcare on poverty levels in Indonesia from an Islamic economics perspective during the 2015–2024 period, using a quantitative approach and multiple linear regression analysis based on secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The results indicate that access to education has a negative and significant effect in reducing poverty, while access to healthcare has a negative but not statistically significant effect. Simultaneously, both variables have a significant influence and are able to explain a large proportion of the variation in poverty levels. From the perspective of Islamic economics, education and healthcare are considered essential factors in improving human resource quality, promoting welfare, and achieving social justice in order to reduce poverty.

Abstract

Since their arrival in Indonesia, Pattani Malay students have played a pivotal role in fostering solidarity, strengthening Islamic identity, and expanding intellectual networks. One significant outcome of this dynamic was the establishment of the Association of Pattani Malay Students in Indonesia in Lampung, in 2009. Despite its importance, research on this organization remains limited, with most studies focusing on the broader history of the Pattani student diaspora in Indonesia rather than examining the continuity, transformation, and challenges of PMMPI in the specific local context of Lampung. This study adopts the historical method, comprising four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected from organizational documents, activity archives, relevant literature, and interviews with core leaders spanning the period from 2012 to 2024. The findings indicate that PMMPI has sustained its continuity through systematic cadre regeneration and the affirmation of Islamic values as the foundation of identity. Organizational changes have occurred in terms of structure, nomenclature, and strategic orientation, demonstrating adaptability to social, political, and academic dynamics. At the same time, the organization has faced persistent challenges, including language barriers, social integration, and global crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic. Overall, the study underscores that PMMPI functions not merely as a student association, but also as an agent of identity formation, solidarity, and adaptation for Pattani students in Indonesia. The implications highlight the need for further exploration of the role of diaspora organizations in reinforcing religious, national, and academic ties within the context of globalization.
