Abstract

The purpose of this research is to combine, analyze, and conclude previous studies in order to obtain accurate results regarding the effect of integrated teaching materials using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students' problem solving abilities in terms of the types of teaching materials, grade levels, and subject matter. The research method used is meta-analysis by reviewing 28 articles from national and international journals. The research results obtained included: overall the mean effect size of the PBL model integrated teaching materials on students' problem solving abilities was 0.858 which was in the high category. In terms of Teaching Materials, the largest mean effect size is 2.372 with the high category belonging to the E-module. Based on the class level, the largest mean effect size is owned by class XI, which is 0.990, which is in the high category. Based on the material unit, rotational dynamics has the largest mean effect size value of 2.522 which is included in the high category. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that in general teaching materials that are integrated with the PBL model can improve students' problem-solving abilities in learning physics. If viewed from the moderator variable, it can be concluded: First, the most effective teaching material is the e-module. Secondly, it is most effectively applied to class XI. Third, it is most effectively applied to rotational dynamics material

Abstract

This study aims to develop an assessment instrument based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to assess high school students' problem-solving abilities in the subject of physics on renewable energy using the Plomp development model. The study was conducted through three main stages, namely (1) preliminary research to analyze needs (2) prototyping phase to design and validate the assessment instrument, and (3) assessment phase to conduct limited trials and product revisions. The assessment instrument was developed by containing essay questions based on real contexts that require critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills. The results of expert validation showed that the assessment was in the valid category with an average percentage score of 0.93. Trials on high school students showed that the assessment was able to measure variations in problem-solving abilities more comprehensively. Thus, this HOTS assessment based on the Plomp model is effective for evaluating physics problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

The goal of 21 st century learning is to develop 4C skills in students. Problem solving is one part of the 4C skills that needs to be improved. Problem solving skills can be integrated to solve problems in the real world. In fact the level of problem solving skills of students at SMAN 3 Panyabungan is still relatively low. One solution that can be done to solve these problems is by using a socioscientific issue approach. The goal of this research is to  specify the significant influence of the socioscientific issue approach on the problem solving skills of class X phase E students. This categorize of research is experimental research using a posttest only design and the sampling techniquei used was cluster random sampling. The population in this study was all class X phase E while, the sample was class X phase E1 as the experimentali class and class X phase E7 as the control class. Results obtained, the average value of the experimental class was higher than the control class, so that the value of th = 3.945 and the value of tt = 2.017 were obtained with a significance level of 0.05.
