Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit dan NaOH terhadap kualitas kertas tisu berbahan tandan kosong kelapa sawit. Penelitian dilaksanakan di laboratorium Kimia dan Fisika ITSI Medan pada bulan April – Juni 2020. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) 2 faktorial yang terdiri dari 9 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, sehingga total sampel adalah 27 perlakuan. Parameter yang diamati adalah parameter yang diamati adalah gramatur, daya serap, mudah rusak dan kenampakan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik dengan analysis of variance (ANOVA) dengan uji beda nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa TKKS dan NaOH berpengaruh nyata terhadap gramatur, absorbsi, mudah hancur dan kenampakan. sedangkan interaksi perlakuan TKKS dan NaOH juga berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan

Abstract

Tenaga kerja memiliki peran dalam penentuan mutu dan kualitas buah. Adanya kesalahan dalam proses panen akan berdampak pada kualitas panen dan secara langsung mempengaruhi produksi kebun. Maka untuk meminimalkan resiko rendahnya kualitas panen maka dibutuhkan peningkatan kapasitas pemanen dengan pelatihan dan konsultasi tentang seluruh aktivitas panen. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk memenuhi target perusahaan mencapai kualitas dan kuantitas terbaik produksi kebun, dengan memberikan pelatihan pemanen agar terpenuhi standar panen menghasilkan buah berkualitas. Selain itu dilakukan konsultasi langsung dengan pemanen tentang berbagai kendala dan permasalahan yang dihadapi di kebun sehingga bisa diberikan langsung solusi untuk mengatasinya. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan oleh dosen ITSI bersama praktisi perkebunan di PTPN III Sei Dadap Asahan, didampingi oleh tenaga kependidikan ITSI. ITSI juga bekerja sama dengan Balai Besar Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas (BBPVP) Kemenaker RI, Disnaker Kabupaten Asahan, pelaksanaan mulai dari tanggal 10-28 Oktober 2022. Hasil pengabdian ini ditemukan bahwa pemanen tidak memahami hingga sulit memenuhi standar proses panen karena fokus pada target basis borong yang dimiliki hingga premi yang dikejar sehingga tidak menjaga kualitas buah. Melalui proses pengabdian pemanen langsung turun praktek di lapangan melihat dan melakukan proses panen yang sesuai dengan standar panen untuk menghasilkan mutu dan kualitas buah yang baik.

Abstract

Semi Virgin Crude Palm Oil (SVCPO) is a palm oil product that is processed from palm oil FFB raw materials which are treated using chemicals in the form of 60% etephon. The FFB is processed with simple tools and a short process, as well as minimum treatment with a modified temperature. This study aims to speed up the harvesting time of palm fruit from the bunch by using the application method and 12 hours of curing time to produce good quality oil. This research was conducted at STIPAP, precisely at the TPHP Process Laboratory. The time of this research was carried out from January to July 2021. This study used the Completely Block Design (CBD) method, by administering chemicals to the FFB raw material by injection and spray methods. The results of this study showed that the FFB removal efficiency ranged from 6.61- 11.44% and SVCPO had DOBI values ranging from 1.66-2.57 ppm, carotene ranged from 311- 1044 ppm, and vitamin E ranged from 409-897. ppm. The application of injection and spray affects the efficiency of sloughing off and the quality of the oil. It can be concluded that in this study the best method for slashing efficiency was the spray method and the injection method for DOBI, carotene, and vitamin E values.

Abstract

Fluctuations in fuel prices stimulate efforts to find alternative energy that is environmentally friendly. The processing of oil palm plantations produces waste or quite a lot of products ± 23% of the weight of fresh fruit bunches. Utilization of Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (PEFB) as biobriquettes was chosen in this study by mixing other ingredients, namely coconut shell. The treatment in the study was the composition of the mixture of PEFB and shell PEFB-1, PEFB-2, PEFB-3, PEFB-4 and PEFB-5 with a ratio of weight (100% -0%), (75% -25%), (50% -50%), (25% -75%) and (0% -100%). The research was carried out in Medan STIPAP, ITM Laboratory and PTKI Alboratorium in April - September 2018. Observation parameters were heating value, water content, ash content, density, compressive strength and combustion rate. The results showed that briquettes with dominant PEFB material, PEFB-1 and PEFB-2, produced less quality biobriquettes, especially low calorific value. The best treatment is PEFB-4 (25% EFB and 75% shell) with characters that appropriate to the specifications of the quality standard of charcoal briquettes.

Abstract

The cessation of the processing process at the palm oil mill will cause losses to the company, which can result inlow productivity of the plant. Damage to equipment at the palm oil mill requires more costs to repair the damage.For this reason, good maintenance is needed for each equipment used in the processing process using the normaldistribution method. In this study the tool used was Screw Press. The purpose of this study was to determine thevalue of Realibility and Maintainabiity by using a normal distribution and to determine the cause of damage to theScrew Press machine. This research stage was carried out by taking data on damage and repair of Screw Press inApril-June 2017 and processing data using normal distribution. The data needed in normal distribution is the valueof Realibility, Maintainability, and standard devisia. By doing this data processing, the Screw Press machine canoperate well with reliability value in April-June 2017 on screw press 1 machines at 98%, 98%, 99% andmaintainability value of 21.78 hours, 18.8 hours, 19 , 18 hours. Whereas in screw press machine 2 in April - June2017 the reliability value is 99%, 98%, 95% and the Maintainability value is 19.9 hours, 18.68 hours and 18 hours.

Abstract

Used cooking oil is oil left over from frying that can no longer be used for frying because it has decreasednutritional value and has a negative impact on health. Used cooking oil can still be used as an example as araw material for making soap after being treated with used cooking oil. This study aims to make soap fromused cooking oil as raw material after being adsorbed using activated carbon from oil palm shells. The stagesof this research are 1). Making activated carbon from oil palm shells, 2). Applying activated carbon frompalm oil shells to used cooking oil, 3). Making soap from used cooking oil that has been adsorbed withactivated carbon from oil palm shells and 4). Testing the quality of soap, namely moisture content, soapingnumber and foam quantity. The results showed that the characteristics of the soap produced with an averagewater content of 7.5% (SNI 196-206 Max 15%), Sapling Number 196.90 mg / gr (SNI 196-206 mg/gr) and theamount of foam 1, 58 ml. Soap made from used cooking oil as raw material that has been adsorbed usingactivated carbon from oil palm shells in accordance with SNI 196-206 mg/gr.

Abstract

Briquettes are solid fuels that can be used as alternative energy. This research aims to determine the optimalratio of raw materials with adhesive content at about 10% constantly. The stages of this research were asfollows: 1) Sampling of raw materials, 2) Drying and decomposition of raw materials, 3) CarbonizationProcess, 4) Milling. 5) Composition Treatment, 6) Pressing and quality analysis of briquettes. The data of thisresearch were obtained by measuring calorific value, moisture content, ash content, density, compressivestrength, and combustion rate. The ratio between empty bunch : bagasse respectively was depended on100%: 0%, 75%: 25%, 50%: 50%, 25%: 75%, 0%: 100%. The Parameters of treatments were calorific value,moisture content, ash content, density, compressive strength, and combusition rate to find out the bestparameters. The result of this research shows the that the combination of empty bunch and baggase gave theeffect to the qualities. The highest calorific value was showed in the ratio empty bunch : baggase (100% : 0%)with average HHV value; the lowest average of moisture content ; the lowest ash content; density;compressive strength value; and combustion rate respectively 5889 cal/gr; 2,81%; 20%; 0,941 gr/ml;1,82N/cm2;0,00223gr/second.

Abstract

Growth population were very fast and caused demand to the energy increasingly while fuel ingredients fossilthinning out. The needed of energy alternative sources as energy biomass among them briquettes charcoal. Inanother, there are some potential biomass sources, one of that is empty bunch of oil pam. Briquettes charcoalfrom oil palm empty bunch could be an alternative to resolve limitations source power energy and at once asalternative. The material which used in this study were oil palm empty bunch and hyacinth mumps. Adhesivesare used is tapioca. The method used is press hydraulic with pressure Felts 0, 8 tons levels 10% adhesive.Charcoal processing used a modified drum. Charcoal obtained then pounded and then made ingredients traybriquettes charcoal. Briquettes charcoal made from 5 variations composition ingredients oil palm empty bunchand water hyacinth were 100%, 75 %: 25%, 50%: 50%, 25%: 75% with adhesive concentration 10% with adiameter of 2.15cm and 5.5 cm. The results of this study that best briquettes is TEG-1 treatment (100% bunchesblank with 10% adhesive produces) with value heat 5896 cal / g, water content 2.81%, content ash 20 %.

Abstract

V-Notch 900 is a device that has a triangular-shaped gap with an angle of ninety degrees. Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill does not yet have a tool to measure the discharge of diluent water used at press stations, so there are often problems with the composition of crude oil that is not ideal due to too much or too little diluent water used. This study aims to determine the magnitude of the effect of using V-Notch as an indicator of crude oil diluent water regulation at Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill PT. Nusantara I Plantation so that the comparison after and before Tanjung Seumantoh Palm Oil Mill using V-Notch at the press station is known. The results of this study show that the composition of crude oil before the application of V-Notch is 33:45:22 (Oil:Water:Nos) By using press number 3, 1 and 2 without knowing how much diluent water is used. After the application of V-Notch to 39:40:21 using pressan number 3, 1 and 2, it is known that the amount of diluent water used is 16.2 tons / hour. This indicates that the application of V-Notch can affect the composition of Crude Oil at the Press station to be ideal according to company standards. The oil content in palm fibers and palm kernel is 50%-55% and 40% respectively and the ideal crude oil composition is 40%Oil: 40%Water: 20%Nos.

Abstract

Getah lontar ini dapat diolah menjadi nata dengan bantuan Acetobacter xylinum. Waktu penelitian selama 3 bulan yaitu dari bulan Mei 2021 – Juli 2021. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dan terdiri dari 4 taraf perlakuan yaitu perlakuan A tanpa penambahan ekstrak tauge. , perlakuan B dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge. 2%, perlakuan C dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge 4%, dan perlakuan D dengan penambahan ekstrak tauge 6%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira nira menghasilkan hasil pada perlakuan A sebesar 67,64%, perlakuan B sebesar 68,26%, perlakuan C sebesar 68,39%, dan perlakuan D sebesar 68,51%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira nira menghasilkan kadar air pada perlakuan A sebesar 84,37%, perlakuan B sebesar 83,26%, perlakuan C sebesar 82,63%, dan perlakuan D sebesar 80,98%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira aren menghasilkan serat kasar pada perlakuan A sebesar 7,05% dan perlakuan D sebesar 6,45%. Perlakuan pembuatan nata berbahan dasar nira aren menghasilkan kadar abu pada perlakuan A sebesar 0,615% dan perlakuan D sebesar 0,81%. Perlakuan terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan D dengan rendemen 68,51%, kadar air 80,98%, serat kasar 6,45%, dan kadar abu 0,81%. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan aroma dan rasa tidak normal, sedangkan warna dan tekstur normal.
