Abstract

Mathematics instruction should be supported by contextual learning materials that enable students to understand concepts meaningfully and enhance their numeracy skills. However, mathematics learning at MA Mambaul Ulum Banjarejo is still largely dominated by abstract textbooks, resulting in students experiencing difficulties in understanding the concepts of sequences and series. Therefore, there is a need to develop student worksheets based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach that connect mathematical concepts with students’ everyday experiences. This study aimed to develop RME-based student worksheets that are valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ numeracy literacy skills on the topic of sequences and series. The study employed the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants were tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Mambaul Ulum Banjarejo. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and tests. The validation results indicated that the developed worksheets achieved a validity score of 80%, categorized as highly valid. The practicality level reached 87.5%, indicating that the worksheets were highly practical for classroom use. Furthermore, the implementation results revealed a significant improvement in students’ numeracy literacy skills before and after using the worksheets, as demonstrated by the paired-samples t-test conducted using SPSS, which yielded a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05). Based on these findings, the RME-based student worksheets can be considered valid, practical, and effective learning materials for enhancing students’ numeracy literacy skills and facilitating their understanding of abstract mathematical concepts through real-life contexts. BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Pembelajaran matematika idealnya didukung oleh bahan ajar kontekstual yang membantu siswa memahami konsep dan meningkatkan literasi numerasi. Namun, di MA Mambaul Ulum Banjarejo pembelajaran masih didominasi buku paket yang bersifat abstrak sehingga siswa mengalami kesulitan memahami materi barisan dan deret. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan LKPD berbasis Matematika Realistik (RME) yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan LKPD berbasis Matematika Realistik yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa terhadap materi barisan dan deret. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan ADDIE yang meliputi lima tahap: Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah murid kelas X di Madrasah Aliyah Mambaul Ulum Banjarejo. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, angket, dan tes. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa LKPD tergolong sangat valid pada skala Persentase praktikalitas diperoleh  yang artinya sangat praktis. Implementasi LKPD menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan LKPD, yang dibuktikan dengan hasil uji-t berpasangan menggunakan SPSS dengan nilai signifikansi . Berdasarkan hasil analisis, LKPD berbasis RME dapat dikategorikan sebagai media pembelajaran yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam mengoptimalkan kemampuan literasi numerasi dan membantu siswa memahami konsep matematika abstrak melalui konteks kehidupan nyata.

Abstract

Mathematics learning at the junior high school level is still predominantly abstract and has not sufficiently connected mathematical concepts with real-life contexts and local culture, resulting in students’ critical thinking skills not developing optimally. One effort to address this issue is through the development of contextual and meaningful ethnomathematics-based teaching materials. This study aims to develop an ethnomathematics-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) using the context of the traditional congklak game to improve junior high school students’ critical thinking skills. This research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects were ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Satu Atap Sumbermanjing Wetan, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, as well as pretest and posttest instruments. The expert validation results showed that the developed LKPD obtained a validity percentage of 85.3%, categorized as very valid. The practicality test results indicated percentages of 93.33% from teachers and 82.4% from students, categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test using a paired sample t-test revealed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills after the implementation of the LKPD. Therefore, the ethnomathematics-based LKPD with the congklak game context is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to model the potential income for the community from waste management at the Madiredo Integrated Waste Management Facility by integrating a circular economy approach, Islamic values, and mathematical modeling. The methods used include a descriptive quantitative approach via simple linear regression to map the relationship between waste volume (x) and generated income (y), as well as a qualitative approach to explore the internalization of Islamic values in waste management practices. The research results indicate a positive relationship between waste volume and income, as demonstrated by the simple linear regression model. Based on data analysis for the May–June 2025 period, a mathematical model was derived with a coefficient of determination (R²) indicating the extent to which variations in income can be explained by the volume of collected waste. The analysis results show a positive relationship between waste volume and revenue with a coefficient of determination value of 71.4%. Furthermore, it was found that Islamic values such as trustworthiness, responsibility, and social benefit have been strongly internalized within the operational activities of the TPST, thereby reinforcing the sustainability of the village’s circular economy program. This study concludes that the integration of mathematical approaches and spiritual values is capable of optimizing local economic potential while simultaneously ensuring the sustainable preservation of the environment

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted with the aim of improving students’ understanding and skills in solving problems based on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Mathematical literacy is one of the key competencies in education, particularly in addressing the challenges of national and international assessments. This activity was attended by 37 students from SMK Assalam using a participatory approach that included material presentations, discussions on problem-solving strategies, independent practice, as well as reflection and evaluation of learning outcomes. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed an increase in participants’ average scores, reaching 85%. This indicates an improvement in their understanding and skills in solving problems based on real-life contexts. Additionally, feedback from participants indicated that the majority felt more confident and benefited from the problem-solving techniques provided in this workshop. However, several challenges were encountered during the activity, including students’ difficulty in understanding context-based problems and time management issues while working on the problems. Therefore, for similar activities in the future, it is recommended that there be further mentoring, more intensive practice with problems, and a group-discussion-based approach to optimize understanding. Overall, this workshop made a positive contribution to improving students’ mathematical literacy and can serve as a model for schools in developing more applied and problem-solving-based learning.

Abstract

Students must possess numeracy as a basic skill. Numeracy questions are developed from PISA and TIMSS questions. This study aims to describe students' level of numeracy literacy when solving questions adapted from PISA and TIMSS. This descriptive qualitative study was conducted on 25 students in the 11th grade of TKJ FO at SMK NU Sunan Ampel Poncokusumo. Three students were selected as research subjects based on high, moderate, and low numeracy literacy categories. Data were collected through tests and interviews. The students were given three PISA and three TIMSS test questions aligned with numeracy literacy indicators: applying, interpreting, and analyzing. The results showed that students in each ability category performed differently on the numeracy literacy indicators. Students in the low and medium categories only met the analyzing indicator when answering PISA questions. Meanwhile, students in the low category were able to meet the applying and interpreting indicators on TIMSS questions, but not the analyzing indicator. Students in the medium category could meet the interpreting and analyzing indicators on TIMSS questions but not the applying indicator. Conversely, students in the high category met all numeracy literacy indicators when completing PISA and TIMSS questions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran matematis pada siswa kelas VII MTs. Raudlatul Ulum Putri Ganjaran saat menyelesaikan soal materi segiempat. Penelitian ini melibatkan 13 siswa di kelas VII E dan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen soal materi segiempat yang terdiri dari satu soal dengan empat indikator penalaran matematis sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Hal ini memungkinkan untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang cara siswa menyelesaikan setiap pertanyaan dan memberikan gambaran umum tentang kemampuan penalaran mereka. Hasil penelitian diperoleh data bahwa siswa kategori kemampuan penalaran baik dapat memenuhi empat indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis, siswa kategori kemampuan penalaran cukup hanya dapat memenuhi tiga dari empat indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis yakni menuliskan dugaan, menuliskan manipulasi matematika dan memberikan alasan terhadap solusi yang diberikan. Siswa kategori kemampuan penalaran kurang hanya dapat memenuhi dua dari empat indikator kemampuan penalaran matematis yakni menuliskan dugaan dan menuliskan manipulasi matematika. Dengan upaya yang terarah dan berkelanjutan, diharapkan dapat membantu siswa kelas VII MTs. Raudlatul Ulum Putri Ganjaran dalam mengembangkan kemampuan penalaran matematis mereka dan meningkatkan kemampuan mereka untuk menyelesaikan soal-soal matematika dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan hubungan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self concept siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di MA Al-Hidayah Wajak pada semester 2 tahun ajaran 2023-2024. Penelitian ini melibatkan 19 siswa kelas XI MIPA MA Al-Hidayah Wajak. Subjek penelitian diambil tiga siswa yang mewakili masing-masing kategori self-concept siswa. Instrumen penelitian mencakup tes dan kuesioner, sementara analisis data melibatkan pendekatan kualitatif. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara self-concept dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Dalam konteks ini, hasil penelitian menyiratkan bahwa siswa yang memiliki self-concept tinggi memiliki kemampuan untuk menguasai seluruh indikator komunikasi matematis, seperti tata bahasa, wacana, sosiolinguistik, dan strategis. Siswa yang memiliki self-concept sedang mampu memenuhi tiga indikator, yaitu tata bahasa, wacana, dan sosiolinguistik, namun belum mencapai tingkat kemampuan strategis karena mereka memberikan jawaban yang kurang tepat dan belum dapat menjelaskan tahapan penyelesaiannya. Siswa dengan self-concept rendah belum mampu memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis, termasuk tata bahasa, strategis, sosiolinguistik, dan wacana.

Abstract

Kemampuan Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu keterampilan atau kemampuan matematika. Hal ini diharapkan dalam pembelajaran yaitu dengan menunjukkan pemahaman konsep matematika yang dipelajari, menjelaskan hubungan antar konsep, dan menerapkan konsep atau algoritma secara fleksibel, akurat, efisien dan tepat dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, dan subjeknya adalah siswa kelas XI IPA MA Raudlatul Ulum Putri yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dignakan yakni tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa mempunyai pemahaman yang sedang terhadap konsep materi trigonometri. Siswa kategori sedang dapat memenuhi tiga indikator kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Siswa kategori rendah hanya dapat memenuhi satu indikator kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis sesuai dengan kemampuannya. Disarankan agar siswa terlibat secara aktif selama proses pembelajaran di kelas guna meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika mereka.

Abstract

There are several mistakes made by students in solving mathematical problems. Students' mistakes are also influenced by cognitive style. The purpose of this study is to describe the mistakes made by students with reflective cognitive styles in solving contextual problems. This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach conducted at MA Mambaul Ulum Banjarejo. The material used in this study is linear programming. Data collection was carried out through written tests and interviews with each subject. The instruments used in this study were (1) the MFFT (Matching Familiar Figures Test) cognitive style test, (2) a linear programming problem-solving ability test, and (3) interview guidelines. There were two students with reflective cognitive styles as subjects in this study. The analysis of student errors was based on Newman's Theory. The results of this study are [1] both students with reflective cognitive styles made different mistakes, one student made conceptual errors, namely incorrect determination of inequality signs and transformations, and the other made procedural errors, namely the student was unable to continue working on the problem-solving process and also made mistakes in the transformation stage, process skills, and writing the final answer. [2] Both students with reflective cognitive styles also made the same errors; both made errors in the process skill stage and in the final answer writing stage.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' problem-solving abilities in solving matrix problems in terms of their self-efficacy levels. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with three eleventh-grade students representing high, medium, and low self-efficacy categories as subjects. Questionnaires, tests of problem-solving ability, and in-depth interviews were used to gather data.  Students who scored higher on the self-efficacy measure were more likely to systematically complete each of the four steps of problem-solving: identifying the issue, developing a plan of action, carrying out the plan, and finally, evaluating the outcomes.  Even though they were less confident and accurate, students with medium self-efficacy nonetheless proceeded through all the steps.  Students who lacked confidence in their abilities could only complete one level and often struggled to find solutions to issues.  These results show that students' mathematical problem-solving skills are significantly impacted by their degree of self-efficacy.  Thus, it is essential that mathematics learning methodologies prioritise the cultivation of self-efficacy, particularly when dealing with intricate topics like matrices.
