Abstract

Writing descriptions is one of several forms of writing skills that express students' impressions, perceptions, and feelings. This study aims to create appropriate teaching resources for use in learning to write descriptions in the Indonesian language subject. The product in this study is a learning resource in the form of the comic book ‘Kisah Teladan bersama Punakawan’ for fourth-grade students at a state elementary school in Central Java. This is a modified Research and Development (RD) study from Borg and Gall's (1983) development mode designed with a qualitative research method. Based on the feasibility validation of assessment learning resources from six validators, material experts, language experts, and media experts, the book was suitable for improving students' writing skills in the description text. It could be used as an additional learning resource for Indonesian subjects to improve students' skills in writing description text inspired by the Punakawan wayang stories.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis demands educational innovations that can foster ecological awareness among students. Literature, especially kaba Minangkabau, contains values of nature conservation that can be utilized as a learning resource. This study aims to integrate the values of ecocriticism in kaba Minangkabau into literary criticism learning in higher education to produce contextual, locally-based learning that supports the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and perguruan tinggi berdampak. The research approach used was qualitative with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observations, and documentation studies of 6 lecturers and 18 students from UNP, Unes, and UPGRISBA. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model. The results showed that lecturers and students were highly interested in using kaba, but were constrained by the limited availability of ecocritical textbooks. Content analysis of the seven kabareveals four main themes of ecocriticism, namely depictions of nature, natural disasters/devastation, the relationship between humans and nature, and the author's attitude. This research produced a textbook model that combines literary criticism theory, ecocritical analysis guidelines, kaba case studies, and reflective activities in accordance with CPMK, thereby strengthening students' ecological literacy and encouraging pro-environmental awareness and action.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has influenced the field of education, which can be utilized in the learning process. This study aims to test the feasibility and effectiveness of developing an ethnoscience-based science encyclopedia integrated with role-playing methods to improve scientific literacy. This study is a research and development (R&D) study. The subjects of this study consisted of 67 fifth-grade elementary school students in Klaten Regency, Central Java, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques were through questionnaires, tests, and observations. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, then analyzed inferentially with a paired sample t-test. The results of the study indicate that the development of an ethnoscience-based science encyclopedia integrated with role-playing methods is proven valid and effective in improving scientific literacy. The results of the study showed: (1) the validation of the science encyclopedia product obtained an average value of 97.22% from teaching material experts and 90.21% from material experts, and obtained a value of 95.5% from practitioners, and (2) the results of the analysis showed a probability value of 0.032 < 0.05, meaning that there was a difference between the results of the pretest of scientific literacy skills that had not been treated and the posttest that had implemented the science encyclopedia based on ethnoscience integrated with the role play method. Thus, the developed science encyclopedia was declared valid and effective in improving the science literacy skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

Complex word formation, a central process in morphology, has recently garnered increasing attention in linguistic research within the last decade. This study employs a scientometric approach to map the current landscape of this domain, aiming to reveal the field’s structure, trends, and thematic foci, with a focus on extracting pedagogical implications. Using VOSviewer software, we analyzed 488 documents retrieved from the Scopus database, spanning the years 2014 to 2024. The analysis revealed a dynamic field with an overall upward trend in publications, with a mean annual publication frequency of 48 documents across the 11-year period. A steady increase was observed from 2016 onwards, culminating in a peak in 2020. This peak signifies a growth of approximately 132% from the nadir of 2015. Leading researchers included Booij, G. and Plag, I., while Mental Lexicon and Morphology emerged as the most prominent publishers. Specifically, keyword analysis identified six distinct clusters: (1) fundamental concepts (25.5%); (2) language processing and acquisition (23.4%); (3) cognitive mechanisms (21.3%); (4) experimental perspectives (14.9%); (5) language development (9.6%); and (6) theoretical linguistics (5.3%). To some extent, these findings provide insights into the current state and future directions of complex word formation research, with implications for both linguistic theory and pedagogical practice.
