Abstract

This study aims to analyse customer behaviour in saving in Islamic banking using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework which is extended with religiosity variables to increase the external validity of the model and understand consumer behaviour more comprehensively. The method used is quantitative research with causality analysis through the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach using LISREL software version 8.70, based on data from 180 respondents. The results showed that people's positive attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control significantly influenced the intention to use Islamic banking products, with subjective norms as the most dominant variable. In addition, perceived convenience and ability also affect both intention and actual behaviour, while religiosity only has an impact on intention with no significant effect on actual behaviour. These findings indicate a gap between religious beliefs and actual actions in the use of Islamic banking products.

Abstract

This study examines the long-run determinants of Islamic fintech asset (AFS) growth in Indonesia using quarterly data from 2019Q1 to 2025Q4 (T=28) within the framework of ARDL bounds testing. The model includes macroeconomic proxies (inflation, BI interest rate) and indicators of Islamic social capital (Sharia Financial Literacy Index, ILKS; Sharia Financial Inclusion Index, IIKS). The unit root test confirms integration of order I(0) or I(1). The bounds test (F=30.172) rejects the null hypothesis of no cointegration, thereby establishing a stable long-run equilibrium. The error correction rate (ECT=−0.6114, p<0.001) indicates that 61.14% of short-run imbalances are corrected within one quarter. ILKS is the only statistically significant long-run determinant (β = +0.0148, p = 0.040), whilst macroeconomic variables and IIKS exhibit effects that are theoretically consistent but not statistically significant. Residual diagnostics and the CUSUM test confirmed the model’s validity across the three macroeconomic phases. These findings position the growth of Islamic fintech as a phenomenon driven by social capital, implying that financial literacy policies are more effective than monetary policies for the sustainable expansion of the Islamic financial sector (AFS).

Abstract

The halal industry has evolved into a strategic economic sector that extends beyond religious considerations to encompass competitiveness, consumer trust, and global value chain integration. Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population, holds significant potential to become a global halal hub. However, this potential is still constrained by several challenges, particularly in strengthening the halal value chain and ensuring the effective implementation of halal certification, especially among regional micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to analyze the role of the halal value chain and halal certification in supporting the development of the halal industry in Indonesia, with a specific focus on the Bogor region as a representative MSME halal food cluster. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach through a comprehensive literature review of academic books and reputable national and international journal articles, including Scopus-indexed publications, published up to 2025. The findings indicate that an integrated halal value chain, supported by credible halal certification and adequate halal logistics systems, plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of the halal industry. Nevertheless, a gap remains between national policy frameworks and their implementation at the regional level, particularly in terms of halal standard awareness, technological readiness, and stakeholder collaboration. This study contributes conceptually to the halal industry literature and provides practical implications for strengthening halal industry ecosystems at both regional and national levels.
