Financial Evaluation and Social Impact of Community-Based Health Projects: A Case Study of the XYZ Indonesia Foundation Rahmat Saleh

Abstract

This study assesses the financial feasibility and social impact of a community-based health initiative by the XYZ Indonesia Foundation, which provides free HIV testing to key populations. Using evaluative analysis and descriptive quantitative methods, the research applies financial indicators such as Payback Period (PP), Accounting Rate of Return (ARR), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI). Results show a PP of 4.28 years, an ARR of 14.01 percent, a negative NPV of Rp 246,530,081, an IRR of 7.26 percent, and a PI of 0.885, indicating the project is not financially viable. Despite this, the initiative delivers significant social benefits, including improved access to health services for vulnerable groups, reduced HIV-related stigma, and greater community engagement. Although the project does not achieve commercial viability, its social value supports continued investment through social funding, public-private partnerships, and enhanced program governance.

Abstract

Abstrak Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) sektor kuliner memegang peran penting dalam mendukung perekonomian nasional. Namun demikian, masih banyak pelaku UMKM yang menghadapi berbagai tantangan dalam pengembangan usahanya, termasuk akses permodalan, keterbatasan pemasaran digital, serta rendahnya kesadaran akan pengelolaan limbah yang berkelanjutan. Warung Sate Kambing Pakdhe, yang berlokasi di Bantul, Yogyakarta, merupakan salah satu UMKM yang mengalami ketiga permasalahan tersebut. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi melalui tiga pendekatan utama, yaitu: sosialisasi akses permodalan usaha bagi UMKM, pendampingan digital marketing dengan fokus pada pengelolaan media sosial Instagram, serta pelatihan dan praktik langsung pengelolaan sampah organik melalui metode biopori. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan pendekatan terstruktur melalui beberapa tahapan: survey awal untuk mengidentifikasi masalah, serta pendampingan dengan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam ketiga aspek tersebut. Pendekatan terintegratif ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat kapasitas usaha mitra serta mendorong pertumbuhan usaha yang lebih berkelanjutan dan bertanggung jawab secara sosial dan lingkungan. Kata kunci: akses modal usaha; digital marketing; pengelolaan limbah; UMKM kuliner. Abstract Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector play an important role in supporting the national economy. However, many MSME players still face various challenges in developing their businesses, including limited access to capital, inadequate digital marketing, and low awareness of sustainable waste management. Warung Sate Kambing Pakdhe, located in Bantul, Yogyakarta, is one of the MSMEs experiencing these three problems. This Community Service activity aims to provide solutions through three main approaches: socialization of access to business capital for MSMEs, digital marketing assistance with a focus on Instagram social media management, and training and hands-on practice of organic waste management through the biopore method. This community service programme employs a structured approach through several stages: an initial survey to identify problems, as well as assistance with pre-tests and post-tests to measure knowledge improvement. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in all three aspects. This integrated approach is expected to enhance the business capacity of partners and foster more sustainable, socially responsible, and environmentally responsible business growth. Keywords: access to business capital; digital marketing; waste management; culinary MSMEs.

Abstract

An indication of the success of a country's economic development is important to the attention of various parties. The potential gap in economic growth inequality between regions often occurs, sometimes in line with and sometimes not along with improvements in human development and other financial aspects. The purpose of our research is to identify the effect of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) and Human Development Index (HDI) on economic growth (GRDP). The data used in this study are secondary. The use of secondary data obtained from government agencies in the provincial and national environment, namely the Central Statistics Agency, in the form of panel data before the COVID-19 pandemic from 34 provinces in Indonesia for four years, 136 data observations applying regression analysis with Eviews 25 analysis tools in the form of panel data models pooling least square (PLS) / common effect, random effect and fixed effect. The results found that PAD partially affects GRDP while HDI has no significant effect on economic growth. Even though simultaneously the influence of PAD and HDI on economic growth is 73%, it is indicated by the results of the coefficient of determination R-square.
