Abstract

Abstract

Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) are an important innovation in the development of sustainable aquaculture, enabling the management of high stocking densities in controlled environments. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different stocking densities of grouper (Epinephelus coioides) seedlings on growth performance, feed efficiency, survival rate, and water quality in a RAS. In this study, grouper juveniles (9.4 ± 0.54 cm and 14.22 ± 0.67 g) were reared in 100-liter aquaria and cultured for 70 days. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three stocking density treatments (15, 20, and 25 fish/aquarium), each with three replicates. Observed parameters included total length, total weight, Weight Gain (WG), Specific Growth Rate (SGR), condition factor (K), Feed Intake (FI), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Feed Efficiency Ratio (FER), water quality (salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH), and Survival Rate. The results showed that increasing the stocking density up to 25% produced the best growth performance and feed efficiency (WG 574%, SGR 2.72%/day, FCR 1.32, FER 0.76) without reducing the survival rate (SR 100%). Water quality remained within optimal ranges, although slight decreases in dissolved oxygen and pH were observed. Therefore, the RAS was proven to effectively and sustainably support high-density grouper aquaculture.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe flood that occurred in Mesjid Village, Manyak Payed District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, at the end of November 2025 had impacts not only on physical aspects but also on the psychological well-being of children as a vulnerable group. This disaster emergency response community service program (PKM) aimed to provide psychosocial support through the provision of Educational Play Equipment (APE) for preschool children in the village. The program was implemented over a two-week period (March 2–16, 2026) and involved 15 participants from the village government, the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), women’s representatives, and preschool representatives. The implementation method was participatory and involved direct demonstrations, including coordination, socialization, introduction to APE, instructions on how to use APE, handover of APE, as well as monitoring and evaluation through the distribution of questionnaire sheets completed by each participant. The evaluation results indicated significant improvement, with 10 participants (66.6%) categorized as having a very good understanding of the benefits of APE for children affected by flooding, 6 participants (40%) understanding how to use APE correctly, and 8 participants (53.3%) understanding the play-based learning approach. Furthermore, during the training on the use of APE, 9 participants (60%) understood that APE supports children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. Therefore, the provision of Educational Play Equipment can serve as an effective solution in supporting the psychosocial recovery of children after flood disasters. This activity is expected to be implemented sustainably as part of disaster impact management efforts that are oriented toward the needs of children. Keywords: APE; Environmentally Friendly; Children; Flood; Aceh Tamiang.

Abstract

To improve the efficiency of agriculture and food crops, the use of modern technology is necessary. Precision Land Management consists of a suite of high-tech tools including sensors, drones, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to monitor land and crop conditions in real time. This allows for optimized utilization of inputs such as water, fertilizer, and pesticides. This paper aims to analyze the economic impact of implementing precision agriculture, focusing on its Life Cycle Cost. This includes not only the initial investment, but also current operations, maintenance, and future savings (although there may be some uncertainty regarding the actual costs). This study used Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA). The results show that the implementation of precision agriculture reduces resource consumption. For example, sensors have reduced water use in West Java by 30%, and variable fertilizer application based on Sumatra has reduced fertilizer consumption by 40%. However, the main obstacle is the high initial investment costs, which are a burden for smallholder farmers. Therefore, policies that support the adoption of precision agriculture technologies through various means such as fiscal incentives and training are urgently needed, and it is also important to ensure that such tools can be freely used by farmers throughout Indonesia.
