Abstract

Hyperbilirubinemia in neonates or also called neonatal jaundice is a clinical condition in neonates characterized by yellow staining of the skin, mucosa, sclera. Icteric in infants is caused by many things including an increase in bilirubin due to the baby's liver has not been able to remove the bilirubin produced. Many cases occur is the lack of infant intake, so that the baby is difficult to urinate, so that the bilirubin produced cannot be removed and hyperbilirubin occurs. One of the causes of low intake in infants is the presence of natal teeth. Christmas teeth are teeth that grow at the beginning of birth. Although some cases do not cause serious complications, the complication that often occurs is irritation of the baby's tongue and mother's nipples during breastfeeding that needs attention is the swallowing of teeth that can cause interference with the baby. Case report. It was reported that a new mother gave birth normally to a 2-day-old baby and there was a hard lump in the anterior region of the mandibulla. On intraoral examination there are incisor teeth that grow in the mandibular region. This tooth causes the baby to be unable to breastfeed and makes the baby's body condition weak and eventually the baby becomes yellow. Case management. Removal of the Christmas teeth is carried out, then trains the baby to be able to breastfeed directly to the mother and regular observation and evaluation is carried out to monitor the development of the baby's general condition. Conclusion. It can be concluded that with good handling management will provide good results for mother and baby.

Abstract

Introduction: Cost Benefit Analysis is an economic analysis used to evaluate the use of economic resources so that scarce economic resources can be used efficiently. In 2023, SK Clinic proposes opening a new poly clinic which aims to improve the health services provided by SK Clinic. Not all of these proposals can be proposed in their entirety, due to the limited funds that the SK clinic has. The aim of this research is to calculate the Cost Benefit Analysis between the proposal to open a Dental Clinic or Children's Physiotherapy Clinic. Material and Methods: This research used a quantitative descriptive type of research by comparing the costs and benefits between opening a Dental Clinic or Pediatric Physiotherapy Clinic at the SK clinic in Sidoarjo as the unit of analysis in this research. Cost analysis methods used Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) and Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) were also carried out to determine alternative actions to be taken. Results and Discussions: Based on the calculation results of each step of the Cost Benefit Analysis, it was found that each proposal had a different Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) value, where the BCR value of the proposal to open a dental clinic was 1,48 smaller than the BCR value of the proposal to open a Children's Physiotherapy Clinic, which was equal to 1,97. Conclusion: Based on the BCR value, the proposal that was prioritized first was the proposal to open a Children's Physiotherapy Clinic so that this proposal will bring greater benefits to the SK Clinic for children.

Abstract

Introduction: Dental trauma is damage that affects the hard tissue of the teeth and/or periodontal due to mechanical causes. One of the effects of trauma to the teeth is intrusive luxation, namely the movement of teeth into the alveolar bone, which can cause damage or fracture of the alveolar socket. Intrusive luxation causes the tooth crown to appear shorter. Case: An 11 year old male patient who was involved in a traffic accident came to the emergency department with complaints of being unable to walk, swollen lips and broken teeth. Case Management: The patient experienced intrusive luxation on tooth 21 and subluxation on teeth 11 and 22. The treatment carried out in this case was repositioning of tooth 21. Then splinting was carried out using wire on teeth 12, 11, 21, 22 for 1 month. Discussion: Immediate repositioning of luxated teeth is very important to accelerate tissue healing. Treatment in acute cases can be supplemented with acute management, namely administering antibiotics. In this case, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and calcium are given to speed up tissue healing and reduce the risk of complications in the tissue. Conclusions and Suggestions: immediate repositioning, accompanied by wire splints and administration of antibiotics provide good results in the treatment of cases of intrusive luxation due to accidental trauma.

Abstract

PPTQ Hasan Munadi is an Islamic boarding school located in Badengan District, Ponorogo, East Java. The journey to the school requires a long travel distance, with winding roads and a considerable distance from the city. This situation leads to limited healthcare facilities, particularly dental clinics, and infrequent oral health education activities in the surrounding area. As a result, many students at the boarding school have a limited understanding of the importance of maintaining oral health, including the proper techniques for brushing teeth. The aim of the health education program at Pondok Pesantren PPTQ Hasan Munadi is to provide dental and oral health education and training to students from an early age (7-9 years old). This health education program used pre-post test to asses the program’s success. Before the health education intervention, students are given a pre-test. Following this, an educational session is conducted using a lecture method supported by media such as a phantom, video, and flipchart. Next session, a post-test is administered to assess any changes in the students' knowledge about maintaining oral health. Data analysis reveals that 49% of the students had a moderate level of knowledge regarding dental and oral health before the intervention. After the educational session, there was an increase of 7.3% in the number of students who achieved a good level of knowledge. This program indicates a significant improvement in the students' knowledge regarding oral health following the educational intervention.

Abstract

A patient presented with tooth discoloration due to trauma, which had caused a tooth to become non-vital. Such trauma can damage the pulp tissue, eventually leading to necrosis and discoloration over time. In cases like this, internal bleaching is a treatment procedure aimed at improving the color of non-vital teeth. Discoloration of teeth after endodontic treatment often raises concerns for both patients and dentists. Whitening the tooth after root canal treatment is important to restore its original color before a permanent restoration is placed. The objective of this report is to present the successfull outcome of internal bleaching in patient who had undergone root canal treatment en years earlier. A 39-year-old male presented with a complaint of discoloration in the right maxillary central incisor. The patient had a history of root canal treatment on the tooth performed ten years prior. Radiographic examination confirmed that tooth 11 had undergone root canal treatment. Internal bleaching was performed on tooth 11, which appeared darker than the adjacent teeth. Whitening was carried out using 35% hydrogen peroxide. By the fourth visit (one week after the third application), the tooth color had changed to shade D3, which matched the desired color. This indicated a significant improvement in shade. Internal bleaching using 35% hydrogen peroxide resulted in color enhancement consistent with patients expectations. The treatment proved effective in restoring the esthetics of a non-vital tooth discolored due to trauma.

Abstract

The incidence of dental caries is still high in almost all populations in Indonesia. Continues efforts are needed to improve oral health status, one of which is education through social media. The author wants to know the effect of social media on student’s oral health care behavior. This quantitative study involved 23 FKG UMSurabaya based on non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling type with descriptive observational study and cross-sectional design. Data was collected through a survey using questionnaire. The results showed that respondents used a combination of several social media (95,65%) to find information about oral health. Tiktok is the most used platform (47,83%). A total of 56,52% of respondent used the Halodoc health service platform to access information, get advice, buy medicines or make appointment with a doctor. This shows that students are already able to identify information before it is later disseminated directly or through social media, which can potentially improve the oral health of the community.
