Abstract

PPTQ Hasan Munadi is an Islamic boarding school located in Badengan District, Ponorogo, East Java. The journey to the school requires a long travel distance, with winding roads and a considerable distance from the city. This situation leads to limited healthcare facilities, particularly dental clinics, and infrequent oral health education activities in the surrounding area. As a result, many students at the boarding school have a limited understanding of the importance of maintaining oral health, including the proper techniques for brushing teeth. The aim of the health education program at Pondok Pesantren PPTQ Hasan Munadi is to provide dental and oral health education and training to students from an early age (7-9 years old). This health education program used pre-post test to asses the program’s success. Before the health education intervention, students are given a pre-test. Following this, an educational session is conducted using a lecture method supported by media such as a phantom, video, and flipchart. Next session, a post-test is administered to assess any changes in the students' knowledge about maintaining oral health. Data analysis reveals that 49% of the students had a moderate level of knowledge regarding dental and oral health before the intervention. After the educational session, there was an increase of 7.3% in the number of students who achieved a good level of knowledge. This program indicates a significant improvement in the students' knowledge regarding oral health following the educational intervention.

Abstract

Background: Student interest in entrepreneurial pursuits remains low, despite the significant contributions of entrepreneurship to economic growth. Purpose: This study investigates the factors influencing IPB students' interest in adopting AI-based entrepreneurship learning through the lens of design thinking, emphasizing the role of communication methods and their impact on motivation and attitudes. Methods: This study adopts a mixed-method design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative data were collected via an online survey from 173 IPB students, with 166 valid responses after data cleaning. Quantitative analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics (SPSS 25) and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The qualitative aspect involved a SCAMPER analysis within the design thinking framework to explore AI integration in entrepreneurship education. The PICOS framework was applied to explore the factors influencing AI adoption in higher education comprehensively. This mixed-method approach provides a holistic understanding of AI adoption in educational contexts. Findings: Results indicate that learning motivation significantly affects students' intentions to engage with AI-based systems, positively impacting attitudes toward AI. Perceived ease of use also positively influences learning motivation and perceived usefulness, although perceived usefulness does not directly impact learning motivation. Additionally, interpersonal interactions and mass media positively influence attitudes and perceived usefulness, while awareness does not have a significant effect. Conclusion: Expanding AI adoption in entrepreneurship education requires strategic communication, mainly focusing on Design Thinking’s empathize phase to understand student challenges. By iteratively proposing AI tools through the prototype phase, institutions can develop user-friendly, engaging solutions tailored to student needs, fostering higher adoption and engagement in entrepreneurship learning. Research implication: These insights suggest that targeted communication strategies, including design thinking principles, can support broader AI adoption, enhance students’ entrepreneurial learning experiences, and foster a new generation of tech-savvy entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Background – Data from the Indonesian Medical Council , as of April 24, 2024 there were 279,321 doctors registered in Indonesia. Of these, 220,664 people or 79% are general practitioners and specialist doctors, dentists and specialist dentists combined, the number reached 59,422 people, equivalent to 21% of the total doctors registered nationally. The urgency of this research is that the problem of lack of interest in the faculty of dentistry in Indonesia is a serious concern for many parties. Along with the times, the faculty of dentistry with little interest can hinder the progress of the dental health field. The analysis of interest in entering the undergraduate dental program is important to understand the factors that influence students in choosing the dental program, such as interest, talent, career interest, expectations, environment, and educational facilities Aim – The aim of this research is to analyze (1) the influence of gender stereotypes and family support on the decision to choose the dentistry study program, (2) the role of career prospects in moderating the influence of gender stereotypes and family support on the decision to choose the dentistry study program, Design / methodology / approach – The sample for this research consists of 143 students from the Faculty of Dentistry, class of 2023, at three universities with a Faculty of Dentistry: Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Hang Tuah, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, who served as respondents. The sampling technique used is Probability Sampling, specifically Stratified Random Sampling. The data used is primary data collected through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method with Smart PLS version 4.0 softwaredescribe the methodology used in your research. Findings – The research results conclude that (1) gender stereotypes and family support can drive the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, (2) family support can drive the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, (3) career prospects strengthen the contribution of gender stereotypes to the decision to choose a dental medicine study program, but do not moderate the contribution of family support to the decision to choose a dental medicine study program Conclusion –. The profession of a dentist, which requires high precision to diagnose health problems, is often associated with certain gender expectations. The support that individuals receive can increase their confidence in making choices. There is a tendency to avoid jobs that are considered incompatible with existing gender norms, which then leads individuals to adjust their career choices. Parenting patterns that give freedom and trust to children, while still emphasizing responsibility for decisions made, are not directly influenced by career prospects. Research implication – The job of a dentist, which requires great precision to diagnose health problems, is often associated with gender-specific expectations. The support received by individuals can increase their confidence in making choices. There is a tendency to avoid occupations that are perceived to be incompatible with existing gender norms, leading individuals to adjust their career choices accordingly. Parenting that gives children freedom and trust, while emphasizing responsibility for decisions, is not directly influenced by career prospects. Limitations – These studies may have used relatively simple measures of gender stereotypes or based on generalized perceptions, which may not fully capture how more subtle or specific gender stereotypes affect individuals. For example, gender stereotypes are not just limited to whether a profession is suitable for men or women, but could involve expectations regarding the character traits or roles expected in that profession (e.g. whether women are perceived to be more empathetic in the health profession). Therefore, the use of more complex measurement tools for gender stereotypes could help provide a more accurate picture.

Abstract

The growth and development of teeth in preschool children is influenced by various factors, including biological aspects and the type of food consumed, both of which are crucial for overall child development. This study aimed to analyze these influences on 69 preschool children examined at Jemursari Islamic Hospital Surabaya between January and December 2024, using a descriptive approach with an observational method. Data collection involved questionnaires filled out by parents regarding diet, health history, and biological factors, while dental examinations were conducted by dentists to assess dental health. The findings indicated a significant relationship between food consumption and children's dental health, where those who frequently consumed sugary foods had a higher risk of dental caries. Additionally, biological factors such as the mother's health history during pregnancy also played a role in determining a child’s dental condition. Given these findings, it is essential for parents to recognize the importance of biological factors and diet in supporting optimal dental growth and development. A balanced diet and proper dental care are necessary to prevent future dental issues. However, this study was limited to a single location with a sample of 69 children and did not consider broader environmental factors. The results highlight the need to enhance parental awareness regarding children's nutrition and dental health, emphasizing the importance of educational programs on healthy eating habits and oral hygiene, especially for parents of preschool children.

Abstract

Anxiety and fear during dental procedures are common issues among young children, often hindering their acceptance of dental care and negatively impacting long-term oral health. Traditional approaches to dental care frequently fail to address children's psychological needs, resulting in negative experiences and avoidance of dental visits. This study investigates the effectiveness of the psychological age-equality approach in increasing children's acceptance of dental care by reducing anxiety and improving cooperation during dental procedures. A qualitative research design was employed, involving in-depth interviews with parents and dental professionals, along with direct observation of children aged 3–6 years undergoing dental procedures. These procedures incorporated age-appropriate psychological techniques. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns and evaluate the impact of the approach on children's behavior and emotional responses. The findings revealed that the psychological age-equality approach significantly reduced children's dental anxiety and enhanced their cooperation during procedures. This approach effectively meets children's emotional and cognitive needs, improving their overall acceptance of dental care.

Abstract

This study evaluates the integration of learning models within the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia, using the SECI model as a theoretical framework to assess knowledge management practices. The research addresses the urgent need for effective knowledge integration in public sector organizations, particularly in light of the Ministry’s adoption of the 70:20:10 learning model. The primary objective is to analyze the alignment of this model with the SECI framework and identify areas for improvement in knowledge management practices. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to assess the perceived importance and performance of three integrated learning models: Learning from Experience, Social Learning, and Formal Learning. Data were collected from 382 employees using surveys based on a 1-5 Likert scale. The results indicate significant gaps in the integration of explicit knowledge, particularly in the Learning from Experience and Social Learning models. These models were found to lack sufficient structures for organizing and disseminating explicit knowledge, which hindered their effectiveness. The study recommends the development of a centralized knowledge management system, standardized documentation guidelines, and enhanced collaborative learning environments to address these gaps. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of the SECI model in public sector learning environments and offers practical insights for improving knowledge management strategies. The findings provide valuable implications for policy and decision-making, aiming to optimize learning processes and enhance organizational performance in public sector institutions.
