Abstract

Insulin resistance is an early sign of diabetes type 2 that occurs in situations where target organ sensitivity decreases against insulin. Excess free radicals can be mutually insulin resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine how the effects of insulin can be a determining factor. This study used case control design conducted on 22 outpatients at Clinic University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya during June until July 2017. Data were collected using questionnaires, nutritional status, fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, and MDA levels. Insulin resistance status using normal HOMA IR method of <2,77. Logistic Regression was used to determine the effect of free radical on the occurrence of insulin resistance. The results showed free radical against insulin resistance at a=0,05 with p=0,018. That result means boosting MDA levels also increases the risk of insulin resistance. In addition, the consumption of dietary sources of fat and excessive use of food additives, low fruit intake, BMI values are also factors affecting insulin resistance with p=0,027; p=0,036; and p=0,027. Given the elevated levels of MDA-free radicals can increase the risk of insulin resistance. Applying a healthy lifestyle by consuming fiber-rich foods can prevent the formation of excessive free radicals. Keywords: Insulin Resistance, Free Radical, HOMA IR

Abstract

PPTQ Hasan Munadi is an Islamic boarding school located in Badengan District, Ponorogo, East Java. The journey to the school requires a long travel distance, with winding roads and a considerable distance from the city. This situation leads to limited healthcare facilities, particularly dental clinics, and infrequent oral health education activities in the surrounding area. As a result, many students at the boarding school have a limited understanding of the importance of maintaining oral health, including the proper techniques for brushing teeth. The aim of the health education program at Pondok Pesantren PPTQ Hasan Munadi is to provide dental and oral health education and training to students from an early age (7-9 years old). This health education program used pre-post test to asses the program’s success. Before the health education intervention, students are given a pre-test. Following this, an educational session is conducted using a lecture method supported by media such as a phantom, video, and flipchart. Next session, a post-test is administered to assess any changes in the students' knowledge about maintaining oral health. Data analysis reveals that 49% of the students had a moderate level of knowledge regarding dental and oral health before the intervention. After the educational session, there was an increase of 7.3% in the number of students who achieved a good level of knowledge. This program indicates a significant improvement in the students' knowledge regarding oral health following the educational intervention.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Muslim consumers' need for halal and sharia-compliant products continues to grow over time. The implication of this is an increase in demand for products with halal certificates. This research aims to reveal the motivations, perceptions and preferences of groups of entrepreneurs towards packaging products with halal certification. Data was obtained through a survey with a questionnaire to collect primary data from 100 respondents who were Muhammadiyah MSME business owners in Surabaya. The average analysis of research results shows that consumers' motivation to use halal packaging is mainly due to the need for quality packaging that is safe for use and according to religious law. Consumers perceive that halal packaging is guaranteed halal, quality and has an affordable price. Their level of preference is relatively high, consumers as entrepreneurs place halal packaging as the main choice and will use it continuously. Overall, the results of this research show that Muhammadiyah Surabaya business actors have quite positive motivations, perceptions and preferences for halal packaging. However, there is a need to increase awareness of the more attractive aspects of design as well as further education regarding the importance of innovation in halal packaging.
