Abstract

This study examines the role of affective factors, particularly language anxiety, in the acquisition of Arabic as a second language. The background of this research is based on the fact that successful language learning is not only influenced by cognitive factors, but also by emotional variables such as motivation, self-confidence, and anxiety, as explained in Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis. The aim of this study is to explore the concept, causes, impacts, and strategies for addressing language anxiety in Arabic language learning. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected from various relevant sources, including journal articles, books, and previous studies, and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that language anxiety is influenced by internal factors such as low self-confidence, lack of learning motivation, and limited vocabulary mastery, as well as external factors such as the learning environment and teaching methods. Language anxiety has a negative impact on learners’ concentration, working memory, participation, and overall achievement in Arabic language skills. Therefore, supportive and communicative teaching strategies, along with the teacher’s role as a facilitator, are essential to minimize anxiety and enhance the success of Arabic language acquisition. abstrak Penelitian ini membahas peran faktor afektif, khususnya language anxiety (kecemasan berbahasa), dalam pemerolehan bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa kedua.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore value-based parenting strategies implemented by parents in instilling morality and ethics in children in the digital era. In this context, advancements in information technology have created new challenges in parenting, particularly related to children's engagement with digital content. This study conducted in-depth interviews with ten parents who have elementary school-aged children. The method is a descriptive qualitative approach. Reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing are the steps used to conduct data analysis. The research results show that parents use various methods to communicate, supervise technology use, and integrate religious and cultural values in parenting. Parents who effectively teach moral values to their children also tend to talk to them about the positive and negative impacts of digital technology. This study suggests that parents need training and guidance to enhance their ability to navigate the dynamics of the digital era. Abstract

This article reports a classroom study examining whether Arabic song media can improve Grade-X students’ listening skills and vocabulary mastery. Drawing on a descriptive qualitative design with two iterative cycles (Plan Act Observe Reflect), the study was implemented in one intact class (n = 29) at a private senior high school. Data sources comprised observation fieldnotes, lesson artefacts (tests, rubrics), and teacher student feedback across cycles. Baseline assessment showed only 7 students meeting the minimum criterion in listening and 12 in vocabulary. After Cycle I, the number of students meeting the criterion rose to 19 (≈65%) for listening and 17 (≈59%) for vocabulary; after Cycle II, gains reached 26 (≈90%) and 25 (≈86%), respectively. Pedagogically, improvements were associated with explicit objectives, focused listening tasks, and iterative feedback; practically, song media increased engagement and supported repeated, meaningful exposure to target lexis. The study concludes that Arabic songs, when embedded in clear task designs and continuous feedback, can deliver substantial short-term gains in listening and vocabulary for Grade-X learners. Limitations include the single-class scope and lack of a control group; implications and future directions are outlined.

Abstract

This study focuses on the development of an interactive Arabic language learning media, assisted by Kodular, for eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs). Arabic language learning presents challenges due to limited resources and student engagement, especially in the context of online learning. This study aimed to design and evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness, and student responses to this interactive learning media, which was developed using the 4D model: Definition, Design, Development, and Dissemination. The media was validated by experts in both media and content, receiving high ratings of 98%, categorizing it as highly suitable for educational purposes. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, with pre-test and post-test assessments conducted at two schools: MTs Guppi 2 Tanjung Karang and MTs NU Tanjung Karang, involving 40 students in total. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, tests, and documentation. The results from the t-test analysis showed statistically significant improvements in student learning outcomes. At MTs Guppi 2, the t-value was 12.55 (p < 0.05), and at MTs NU, it was 10.38 (p < 0.05), indicating the effectiveness of the Kodular-assisted media in enhancing student engagement and academic performance. The study concludes that the Kodular-based interactive learning media is a highly effective tool for improving Arabic language proficiency in eighth-grade students. Its advantages include accessibility without the need for internet connectivity, offering a flexible and engaging learning experience. The findings suggest that integrating mobile-based learning tools can significantly address the challenges of traditional learning environments, especially in regions with limited internet access. Furthermore, this research underscores the potential of Kodular as a platform for creating educational media, providing a low-cost, accessible solution for educators in diverse settings.
