Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is defined as a condition of increased blood pressure with systolic pressure values of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure exceeding 90 mmHg. This condition is a major risk factor for various health disorders. Various literatures state that increased blood pressure is closely related to the high incidence of cardiovascular diseases, such as stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and premature death. Hypertension management can be done through pharmacological approaches such as antihypertensive drugs and non-pharmacological approaches such as relaxation techniques, acupuncture, acupressure, dhikr therapy and other complementary interventions. To obtain an overview of the application of Benson relaxation techniques and dhikr therapy in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the East Jakarta area. Using an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach that aims to evaluate changes in conditions before and after intervention. The results of the evaluation of the diagnosis of the risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion showed that before the intervention, blood pressure in patients was 160/98 mmHg. After three days of nursing interventions, subjective data showed that the patient no longer experienced headaches. Objective data showed that the patient appeared restless and relaxed, with a blood pressure of 122/80 mmHg. There was a decrease in blood pressure after the application of the Benson relaxation technique and dhikr therapy for three days, with a final blood pressure of 122/88 mmHg. Keywords: Systolic, Hypertension, Diastolic, Dhikr Therapy, Benson Relaxation Technique.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure that occurs due to disorders in the blood vessels, so that the distribution of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues can be disrupted. The leading cause of death in the world, with the number of cases expected to continue to increase along with population growth, both at the individual and family level. Globally, WHO data in 2023 shows that the prevalence of hypertension reaches 33% of the total world population. Meanwhile, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia reaches 34.11% in the population aged ≥18 years. This condition is not only found in the elderly group, but also begins to occur frequently in the productive age group, namely 31–64 years, with the incidence tending to increase with age. To implement family nursing care, especially for Mr. A's family through non-pharmacological therapy with Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) and black garlic therapy as an effort to reduce blood pressure in clients with hypertension. Using an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach that aims to assess changes in conditions before and after the intervention. Shows that non-pharmacological therapy in the form of PMR and black garlic given for three consecutive days, provides results in accordance with the indicators of success, namely increased cerebral perfusion, decreased anxiety levels, and decreased systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Giving PMR and black garlic therapy for three consecutive days is effective in helping to reduce blood pressure, which was initially 157/98 mmHg to 120/76 mmHg after the intervention was given. Keywords: Systolic, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Perfusion, Hypertension, Diastolic, Black Garlic. Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that can cause various serious complications to an individual's health. This disease occurs due to the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin adequately or a disruption in insulin function, resulting in hyperglycemia. Type II Diabetes Mellitus is generally caused by decreased insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells accompanied by insulin resistance. In DM patients, one of the problems that often arises is ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion due to impaired blood circulation. Treatment efforts that can be done include examining blood circulation in the extremities using the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) measurement, which is previously preceded by the provision of intervention in the form of Buerger Allen Exercise (BAE). Of this paper is to analyze the effect of the application of Buerger Allen Exercise (BAE) on increasing the Ankle Brachial Index value in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Method used is a quantitative methodology with an experimental design with a pre- and post-test approach. Results In patients experiencing impaired peripheral tissue perfusion related to decreased blood circulation to the peripheral area, the evaluation results after the administration of intervention in the form of BAE therapy showed changes in the ABI value. ABI values measurements on the right and left extremities conducted before and after BAE implementation showed an increase with results 0.9, which indicates that the value is within the normal range and no vascular obstruction was found in the extremities. The implementation of non-pharmacological therapy in the form of BAE independently at home as an effort to reduce the risk of complications associated with peripheral vascular disorders. Health workers are advised to consider non-pharmacological therapy such as BAE, especially with blood circulation disorders in the peripheral extremities. The application of BAE therapy in patient Mr. HN showed effective results marked by an increase in ABI values to reach the normal category ( 0.9).
