Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of atmosphere and cleanliness on customer satisfaction at Kasta Coffee & Resto Batu Aji, Batam. The background of this research is based on the rapid development of the culinary industry and the increasing lifestyle of people who enjoy spending leisure time in cafes. Customers no longer seek only good taste but also a complete dining experience. Therefore, atmosphere and cleanliness play an important role in creating customer satisfaction. The research problem focuses on whether atmosphere and cleanliness partially and simultaneously affect customer satisfaction. This study uses a quantitative method with a probability sampling technique. The population consisted of 6,728 customers from May to June 2025, and the sample of 100 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to customers of Kasta Coffee & Resto Batu Aji Batam and then analyzed using SPSS version 25. The results show that atmosphere has a positive and significant influence on customer satisfaction. Cleanliness also has a positive and significant influence on customer satisfaction. Simultaneously, both atmosphere and cleanliness significantly affect customer satisfaction. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.636 indicates that 63.6% of customer satisfaction is explained by atmosphere and cleanliness, while the remaining 36.4% is explained by other factors not examined in this study. In conclusion, to improve customer satisfaction, Kasta Coffee & Resto Batu Aji Batam should maintain a consistent atmosphere, especially during peak hours, and enhance cleanliness in public areas such as dining tables, floors, outdoor areas, and restrooms

Abstract

The problem in this study is the development of tourism on Penyengat Island which has the potential to reduce the value and identity of Malay culture due to the influence of modernization and foreign culture. In addition, Malay culture-based tourism education is still not optimal in introducing local historical, customary, and cultural values to the community and tourists. Therefore, efforts are needed through tourism education to build and maintain Malay identity in the region. This research aims to analyze how tourism education plays a role in building Malay identity on Penyengat Island, Tanjungpinang. The problem in this study arises due to the development of modern tourism which has the potential to reduce local cultural values if it is not balanced with efforts to preserve Malay culture. Therefore, tourism education is considered important as a means to maintain the cultural identity of the local community while increasing awareness of the importance of preserving Malay cultural heritage. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants were selected using purposive sampling techniques, namely traditional leaders, local communities, tourism managers, and parties involved in tourism activities on Penyengat Island. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that tourism education has an important role in strengthening Malay identity through the introduction of local history, culture, customs, languages, and values to the community and tourists. In addition, community involvement in cultural tourism activities also supports the preservation of Malay identity on Penyengat Island.

Abstract

The Community Service Activity (PKM) with the title "Socialization of Religious Tourism Development as an Effort to Preserve Spiritual Values and Local Culture in Batam City" aims to increase public understanding and awareness of the importance of religious tourism development as part of the preservation of local spiritual and cultural values. This activity is carried out through socialization, counseling, and interactive discussions involving the community, religious leaders, and local stakeholders. The material presented includes the concept of religious tourism, the potential of religious destinations in Batam City, as well as sustainable management strategies based on local wisdom. The results of this activity show an increase in public understanding of the importance of maintaining spiritual and cultural values in tourism development. In addition, this activity also encourages the active participation of the community in developing and promoting religious tourism as a local identity that has economic and social value. Thus, this PKM activity is expected to be the first step in building synergy between the community, government, and academia in supporting the sustainable development of religious tourism in Batam City.

Abstract

Community Service Activities (PKM) with the title "Social Service for the Distribution of Basic Necessities" is a form of social concern that aims to help people in need, especially in meeting daily basic needs. This activity is carried out by distributing food packages to underprivileged communities, orphanages, or other vulnerable groups. The implementation of activities is carried out through the planning stages, collecting data on beneficiaries, and distributing aid directly so that it is right on target. In addition, this activity also involves the active participation of students, lecturers, and related parties as a form of implementation of the values of mutual cooperation and social concern. The results of this activity show that the assistance provided can ease the economic burden on the community and strengthen the relationship between universities and the community. This activity also provides real experience for students in implementing humanitarian values and service. Thus, this PKM activity is expected to provide short-term benefits in the form of assistance for basic needs, as well as long-term benefits in the form of increased empathy, social solidarity, and concern for others in community life.

Abstract

The Community Service Activity (PKM) with the title "Socialization of Tourism Awareness as an Effort to Increase the Role of the Community" aims to increase public understanding, awareness, and participation in supporting tourism development in their area. This activity is motivated by the importance of the role of the community as the main actor in creating a safe, comfortable, clean, and competitive tourism environment. The implementation of the activity is carried out through socialization, counseling, and interactive discussions involving local communities, community leaders, and other stakeholders. The material presented includes the concept of tourism awareness, the principle of Sapta Pesona, and the importance of friendly service and environmental preservation in supporting the attractiveness of tourist destinations. The results of the activities show an increase in public understanding of the importance of tourism awareness and their role in maintaining the image of the destination. The community has also begun to show an attitude of being more concerned about the cleanliness, safety, and comfort of the tourist environment, and is encouraged to actively participate in tourism activities. Thus, this PKM activity is expected to build community collective awareness so that it is able to play an active role in the development of sustainable tourism, as well as have a positive impact on improving the economy and the welfare of local communities.
