Abstract

Abstract

Savonius water turbine has the opportunity to be developed. An innovation is needed toimprove the performance of savonius water turbines. An experimental study on the effect of installing acircular cylinder with varying diameters on the advancing blade side of the savonius water turbineperformance needs to be carried out. The experiment used savonius water turbine myring n = 1 andmyring n = 2 with a diameter and rotor height of 40 cm each. Circular cylinder diameter variations usedare ds/D=0.2, ds/D=0.3, and ds/D=0.4. Circular cylinder is positioned at a distance of X/D=0.5 andY/D=0.7. The result is the coefficient of torque (Ct) and the coefficient of power (Cp). In addition, thediameter of the circular cylinder that is capable of producing the best performance of Savonius waterturbines will be obtained. The results of the experiment indicate that the installation of a circular cylinderon the advancing blade can improve the performance of savonius water turbines. Variation in circularcylinder diameter ds/D=0.4 results the highest Ct and Cp values in the savonius water turbine myringn=1 and myring n=2. Myring n=1 turbine experiment shows the value of Ct obtained is 0.34 at the tipspeed ratio (TSR) of 0.73, while in myring n=2 turbine, the value of Ct obtained is 0.34 at TSR 0.49.Myring n=1 turbine experiment shows a Cp value of 0.25 at TSR 0.73 (showing an increase of 66.67%),whereas in myring n=2 turbine, the Cp value obtained is 0.16 at TSR 0.49 (showing an increase of21.43%).

Abstract

Subject in this research is one of the shipbuilding companies in Surabaya which is engaged in the repair and construction of new ships. To get the project, the company participates in a tender. However, in reality, especially tenders prequalification of the two files and the evaluation of the lowest price, many failures occur. So we need a way to prevent failure in the tender. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the failure of the tender process. The method used in this research is the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) methods. The results obtained using the FMEA method have 2 failure factors, namely the price after arithmetic correction exceeds HPS with an RPN value of 43.48 and technical personnel do not meet the requirements requested by the tender committee with an RPN value of 38,96. Meanwhile, the FTA method obtained 10 sources of causes including; poor coordination between estimators and suppliers, poor quality estimators, errors from estimators, lack of team in compiling data, not setting clear targets to be achieved, lack of understanding of competitors' weaknesses, limited manpower, few experienced workers in retirement, inadequate labor experience, and some workers who do not have competency certificates.

Abstract

One means of transportation that has an important role to transport passengers or goods through waters to a certain area is the ship. One of the cargo ship repair processes carried out by PT Adiluhung Saranasegara Indonesia, namely KM Usaha Abadi, where there was a delay due to additional work items. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal duration and reduce cost overruns by percepting project duration. The methods used are Critical Path Method (CPM) and Time Cost Trade Off (TCTO). The results obtained in the first alternative, namely 1 hour of overtime work from 30 days to 28 days with a total project cost of IDR 1,079,5338,575.4. With the second alternative, 3 hours of overtime work from 30 days to 24 days with a total project cost of Rp1,078,493,823.7. The third alternative is a system of two shifts from 30 days to 18 days with a total project cost of Rp1,097,364,612. With an alternative duration of delay, which is 30 days, the total project cost is Rp. 1,090,425,667,276. So in terms of cost and time, the company should apply the alternative of two shifts.

Abstract

Delays in completing the project are things that must be avoided, because in addition to adversely affectingthe credibility of the contractor, it also causes losses in terms of project time and cost or cost overrun, where the workdone is not in accordance with the planned time and the cost is not in accordance with the budgeted so that it requiresadditional costs to complete the project. The Earned Value method is a method used to manage project costs andschedules in a structured manner. This method can provide information on the status of project performance in a reviewperiod and information on predicted costs and time for completion of all work based on performance indicators at thetime of review. Project performance on ship repair TB. Big Fair 15 from the calculation of CV and SV in reviews 1, 2and 3 is negative and so is the calculation of CPI and SPI in reviews 1, 2 and 3 is negative or less than 1. This indicatesthat the cost used to complete the project is greater than the plan. However, for the 4th review, the results of the CVand SV calculations show a positive value, which means that the cost of completing the project is in accordance withthe plan as well as the CPI and SPI at the 4th review show a positive value, which means that the cost of completingthe project is in accordance with the plan. Based on the analysis that has been done, the time required to complete theremaining work is 10 days and in this ship repair project there is a cost overrun of Rp. 107,332,706 with a cost budgetof Rp. 459,273,994. After a review using Earned Value Analysis, the results are obtained for each review, where review1 weighs 12.93% at a cost of Rp. 73,267,561 and review 2 weighs 45.17% at a cost of Rp. 255,915,724 and review 3weighs 26.58% at a cost of Rp. 86,839,784.
