Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan kajian eksperimen dengan memvariasikan stagger angle pada S/d = 0,75 konstan. Bentuk sudu turbin Savonius menggunakan persamaan myring dan menempatkan silinder sirkular pada daerah advancing. Kajian eksperimen dilakukan pad sudu kombinasi myring n=1 pada sisi cekung dan n=2 pada sisi cembung. Silinder berdiameter 12 cm ditempatkan pada sisi advancing dengan memvariasikan sudut stagger 0o, 15o, 30o, 45o, 60o, 75o dan 90o. Model uji berukuran tinggi dan diameter masing-masing sebesar 0,40 m dan flowing tank memiliki ukuran lebar dan tinggi masing-masing 1 m dan diuji pada arus 0,2 m/s. Hasil diperoleh bahwa silinder sirkular diletakan pada sisi advancing pada stagger γ = 60º menghasilkan Cp tertinggi 0,1515 atau meningkat sebesar 10,27% dibandingkan dengan tanpa silinder.

Abstract

Potensi sumber daya energi terbarukan di Indonesia sangat besar. Potensi tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mendistribusikan energi secara merata. Salah satu pemanfaatannya yaitu dengan menggunakan turbin angin Darrieus untuk mengubah energi angin menjadi energi listrik. Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan guna meningkatkan kinerja turbin. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi numeric dengan memvariasikan tinggi fin untuk mengetahui nilai Cp, Ct dan TSR. Metode Computational Fluid Dynamics digunakan untuk mengetahui nilai Ct, Cp dan TSR yang berupa grafik koefisien torsi (Ct) dan koefisien daya (Cp) terhadap Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) menggunakan turbin angin Darrieus konvensional berdiameter 40 cm dan tinggi rotor sebesar 50 cm. Simulasi dilakukan dengan memvariasikan tinggi fin sebesar 1,5cm; 2,5cm, dan 3,5cm dengan jumlah fin 3. Hasil kinerja turbin angin Darrieus menunjukkan peningkatan tertinggi sebesar 45,23% pada variasi tinggi fin 2,5cm.

Abstract

The performance of Savonius wind turbine was improved in the previous experimental studies that added overlap and variation of disruptive cylinder distances in front of returning blade. However, the study could not display flow visualization such as velocity contours, streamlined velocity, and pressure contours on turbines so further research is needed. This research is in the form of numerical study using 3-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. The simulation is, determine visualize the turbine’s flow like a velocity contours, streamlined velocity, and pressure contours. The turbine has the same diameter and height of 0.4 meters with overlap addition. The various distances of the disruptive cylinder used is S/d = 1.4; S/d = 1.7 ; S/d = 2 and S/d = 2.3. The final result shows that the visualization at a distance of S/d = 1.7 is the most optimal wake distance to cover the overall returning blade side so that the performance of the Savonius wind turbine at that distance is highest compared to other variations.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian masyarakat ini mengenai Implementasi K3 pada Kegiatan Maintenance AC kepada 32 siswa Jurusan Teknik Tenaga Listrik SMK Negeri 5 Surabaya. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan, sosialisasi ini dianggap penting karena siswa selalu berhadapan dengan potensi bahaya listrik. Sosialisasi mengenai K3 ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan dan dapat diimplementasikan oleh para peserta. Kegiatan sosialisasi yang dilakukan menggunakan metode analisa dengan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test sehingga dapat langsung diketahui pemahaman peserta terhadap materi sosialisasi sehingga mereka dapat mengimplementasikan secara mandiri. Berdasarkan observasi saat sosialisasi didapatkan hasil dari 10 pertanyaan materi yang diberikan saat pre-test peserta tidak ada yang memperoleh nilai 10, nilai paling tinggi 7 hanya ada 6% dari 32 peserta dan saat post-test terdapat 12,5% yang memperoleh nilai 10, dan 37,5% yang memperoleh nilai 9. Sehingga sosialisasi ini penting untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta dalam mengimplementasikan K3.

Abstract

Nowadays, the development of propeller design planning has developed quite rapidly. Series propellers on the market are not only B-Series, Kaplan Series, AU Series, Gwan Series and SK Series. Some series propellers have characteristics of propeller design. Now there are many new series of propeller on the market which is the result of a variety of propeller series that have been there before. With technological advances, software assistance can simulate a new series of propellers with a sufficiently short period of time to get the desired propeller performance results. This research discusses the performance of B-series propellers in open water with variation of rake angle from -3 °, -2 °, -1 °, 0 °, 5 °, 10 ° and 15 ° also variation of skew angle 12 ° and 22 ° using a computational fluid dynamic method (CFD) approach. The purpose of this research is to analyze propeller model to get the highest thrust propeller model, lowest torque, highest efficiency, highest static pressure and highest velocity.

Abstract

Livestock vessels are used to distribute and transport livestock from one place to another. Similar research has been carried out by making cattle models in the beams which are considered to make air distribution less evenly. This research will be carried out simulation use 3D cattle’s model. This simulation aims to determine the distribution of air temperature, air velocity, air pressure and air flow patterns uses a CFD (computational fluid dynamic) simulation method. Based on the simulation result, the average of air temperature distribution is 300oK or 27oC at cattle pen A and B. The average of air velocity distribution is 0,669 m/s at cattle pen A and 0,7 m/s at cattle pen B. The average of air pressure distribution is 0,211 pa at cattle pen A and -0,267 pa at cattle pen B and the airflow pattern is around a model of cattle. The distribution of air temperature at 300oK or 27oC by RH (relative humidity) 70%-90%, THI (Temperature Humidity Index) shows in the alert condition between 75 – 78. So, The cattle pen A and B have not good the comfort zone and make a cattle to be mild stress. Because of it, the air temperature has to be down by adding a cooling instrument.

Abstract

Condenser modeling to determine the performance of industrial condensers on a steampower-based energy generator. The effectiveness of condenser is very important, so the condenserperformance needs to be maintained. The efficiency of condenser work directly affects theperformance of turbine steam, which is an energy generator in the system. The saturation pressurein the industrial condenser before to the plugging process has the highest value of 27790.0 (Pa). Themaximum condensation rate value in the industrial condenser before the plugging process is0.00529579 (Kg/m3.s). The saturation temperature in the industrial condenser after the pluggingprocess has the highest value of 300.0 (oK). The maximum condensation rate value in the industrialcondenser after the pluging process is 0.00519625 (Kg/m3.s).

Abstract

Because of the importance of limiting exhaust emissions in the future and looking for moreenvironmentally friendly fuels, the design of combustion engine is continuously improve the combustion processwhich aims to reduce fuel consumption and engine exhaust emissions. Swirl is a turbulent air flow patternduring the suction process which affects the process of mixing and combustion process. This research usesComputional Fluid Dynamic method. There are 9 models of variations in this study, by adding a blade to theintake valve head with a slope angle of 90°, 60°, 30° and the number of blade 2, 3, 4 with a configuration of180°, 120°,90°. The variation of model is used to examine changes in fluid characteristics (velocity,temperature, and pressure) flowing through the variation model and the effect of changes in the swirl ratiovalue on each intake valve model that affects the combustion process. From the results of the study, the modelof the addition of the blade obtained includes models 90M2, 90M3, 90M4, 60M2, 60M3, 60M4, 30M2, 30M3and 30M4. The decrease in velocity was found in the 30M4 model which has 10.668 m/s, 6.723 m/s, and 5.91m/s. The air temperature in the largest increase on 30M4 model, was 300.004 K, 300.055 K, and 300.053 K.The highest air pressure increase was on the 30M4 model which was 99,100 Pa, 99,138 Pa, and 99,144 Pa.The lowest swirl ratio decrease is found on the 60M4 model, which is 0.1 and the highest swirl ratio is obtainedfrom the variation model which is 0.29 which is found in the 90M3 and 30M4 models.

Abstract

Savonius water turbines can work at low fluid flow rates and have high torque, but have disadvantageswhich is the lowest Cp value compared to other turbine types. Efficiency can be improved by changing the shapeof the Savonius Turbine blade using the myring equation and adding an obstacle. The experimental method in thisstudy combines two blades resulting from variations of the value (n) in the myring equation n = 1 and n = 2, withmyring n = 1 placed on the concave side and n = 2 on the convex side. To improve performance, a 12 cm diametercircular cylinder is placed in front of the advancing blade with varying stagger angles. The test model has a heightof 0.40 m and a diameter of 0.40 m which will be tested in a flowing tank with a width of 1 m and height of 1 m.Experiments were carried out at a current speed of 0.2 m / s by measuring the turbine rotation and load to producea torque coefficient and a power coefficient. The experimental results show that the placement of the circularcylinder with ds / D = 0.3, S / D = 0.75, and ? = 60º obtained the highest performance with an angular velocityof 0.5160 rad / s, Coefficient of torque (Ct) of 0.2936 and Coefficient of power (Cp) of 0.1515. With a percentageincrease compared to myring n = 1 and n = 2 without an obstacle of 10.27%, this proves that the addition of acircular cylinder can improve the performance of Savonius water turbines.
