Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of bioconversion using Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Pleurotus ostreatus and or inclusion of Moringa oleifera leaves and urea in the rumen on cocoa pod husk digestibility and fermentation in the rumen. There were 4 treatments tested: (1) 100% untreated cocoa pod husk (UCPH), (2) 55% UCPH + 43.7% M. oleifera + 1.30% urea (UCPHMU), (3) 100% bioconverted cocoa pod husk (BCPH), and (4) 55% BCPH + 44.5 M. oleifera + 0.5% urea (BCPHMU). Each of the treatments was replicated three times. Variables observed were dry matter and organic matter digestibilities and degradabilities, rumen VFA and ammonia concentrations, gas production, and calculated microbial biomass yields. Results indicated that the treatment increased dry matter (P<0.001) and organic matter (P<0.01) digestibility, with the highest for the BCPHMU and the lowest for the UCPH. The treatments also increased dry matter and organic matter degradability in the rumen (P<0.001), with the highest for the BCPHMU, followed by the UCPHMU, and then by the BCPH and the lowest was UCPH. The treatment affected rumen ammonia concentration (P=0.01), the highest value was found for the BCPHMU followed with UCPHMU and BCPH. Microbial biomass synthesis was affected (P<0.001) by the treatment and it was always higher when nitrogen was provided (UCPHMU and BCPHMU). Total VFA concentration or total gas production was higher for BCPHMU compared to other treatments. It can be concluded that nutritional quality of cocoa pod husk can be improved by either bioconversion with P. chrysosporium and P. ostreatus or inclusion of M. oleifera and urea in the rumen, but the best improvement can be obtained by the combination of bioconversion and provision of the nitrogen sources in the rumen.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi pakan dan efisiensi pakan ternak kambing kacang yang diberi Hay Daun Kayu Jawa (Lannea coromandelica). Ternak yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 12 ekor kambing Kacang betina umur ±10 bulan dengan kisaran bobot badan antara 11,29 - 16,29 kg, yang ditempatkan dalam kandang individual yang berlantai kayu yang dibuat petak sebanyak 12 petak. Penelitian ini dilakukan uji perbandingan 2 perlakuan dengan analisis statistik Uji-T. Adapun perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah P1= Pemberian konsentrat tanpa hay daun kayu jawa, P2= Pemberian konsentrat + 0,5% hay daun kayu jawa. Peubah yang diamati adalah pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi bahan kering ransum, dan efisiensi penggunaan ransum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian hay daun kayu jawa tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap pertambahan bobot badan dan efisiensi penggunaan ransum, namun berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi bahan kering ransum.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat kandungan nutrien dari lumpur sawit hasil biokonversi menggunakan Rhizopus oligosporus sehingga layak dijadikan sebagai pakan fungsional. Materi yang digunakan yaitu tepung lumpur sawit dan jamur Rhizopus oligosporus. Desain penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial dengan 24 kombinasi perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang dilakukan terdiri dari dua faktor, faktor pertama yaitu 4 konsentrasi yaitu (0%, 5%, 10% dan 15%) dan dua waktu fermentasi yaitu (60 dan 96 jam). Semua perlakuan dilakukan analisis kandungan nutrien yaitu meliputi kandungan bahan kering (BK), protein kasar (PK) dan serat kasar (SK) lumpur sawit fermentasi. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukan bahwa perlakuan memberikan pengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kandungan BK, PK, SK dan terjadi interaksi antara konsentrasi jamur dan waktu fermentasi terhadap SK. Kandungan bahan kering tertinggi untuk BK diperoleh pada perlakuan W2K15 (83,24%), PK pada W2K15 ( 18,44%), dan SK pada W2K15 (24,00%).

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi level konsentrasi jamur Neurospora sp. dan waktu fermentasi terhadap kandungan bahan kering, protein kasar, dan serat kasar lumpur sawit. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial 3x3 setiap perlakuan diulang 2 kali. Faktor pertama adalah level konsentrasi jamur (0%, 5%, 10%) dan faktor kedua adalah waktu fermentasi (48, 72, dan 96 jam). Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan interaksi antara level konsentrasi jamur Neurospora sp. dan waktu fermentasi lumpur sawit, berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kandungan bahan kering dan protein kasar sedangkan pada kandungan serat kasar tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05). Secara mandiri level konsentrasi dan waktu berpengaruh nyata terhadap kandungan bahan kering, protein kasar dan serat kasar. Nilai tertinggi bahan kering diperoleh pada kombinasi waktu 72 jam dan konsentrasi 10% (W2K10% = 66,323%) dan pada protein kasar yaitu waktu 96 jam dan konsentrasi 10% (W3K10% = 21,430%), sedangkan pada serat kasar terjadi penurunan. Penggunaan Neurospora sp. dengan konsentrasi dan waktu fermentasi yang berbeda dapat meningkatan kandungan bahan kering, protein kasar, dan menurunkan kandungan serat kasar lumpur sawit fermentasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pertambahan bobot kambing kacang yang diberi kulit buah kakao biokonversi (KBKK) yang disuplementasi dengan tepung daun kelor dalam konsentrat. Penelitian ini didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan dengan menggunakan 20 ekor Kambing Kacang jantan. Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu: P1= Hijauan 70% + Konsentrat 30%+KBKK 0%; P2= Hijauan 70% + Konsentrat 22,5% + KBKK 7,5%; P3= Hijauan 70% + Konsentrat 15% + KBKK 15%; P4= Hijauan 70% + Konsentrat 7,5% + KBKK 22,5%; P5= Hijauan 70% + Konsentrat 0% + KBKK 30%. Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB) dan konversi pakan). Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa kulit buah kakao biokonversi yang disuplementasi tepung daun kelor memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata (p>0,05) terhadap konsumsi BK, BO, PK dan SK, namun memberikan pengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap PBBH dan konversi pakan. Konsumsi BK, BO, dan PK tertinggi diperoleh pada P1, masing-masing 432,03±55,10 g/ekor/hari, 357,36±53,82 g/ekor/hari dan 50,60±7,76 g/ekor/hari. Sedangkan yang terendah pada P5, masing-masing 432,03±55,10 g/ekor/hari, 329,05±44,61 g/ekor/hari dan 46,72±5,96 g/ekor/hari. Sebaliknya, SK tertinggi pada  P5 (119,45±13,7 g/ekor/hari) dan terendah pada P1 (101,59±6,89 g/ekor/hari). Adapun PBBH dan konveri pakan masing-masing berkisar 53,68±3,96 g/ekor/hari-70,13±2,36 g/ekor/hari dan 6,61±0,87-8,08±1,06. Semakin tinggi level pemberian kulit buah kakao biokonversi yang disuplementasi dengan tepung daun kelor, maka semakin menurunkan konsumsi BK, BO dan PK. Hasil terbaik diperoleh pada P3 (konsentrat 15% dan KBKK 15%).

Abstract

The use of antibiotics as growth promoters (AGP) in poultry feed aims to stimulate growth and prevent disease. However, the use of antibiotics in animal feed has been banned spread of resistant bacteria which can be harmful to human health. The use of natural compounds, especially essential oils, as a natural alternative for antibiotics. The aim of the study was to evaluate the inclusion of eugenol clove leaf oil as a feed additive to replace antibiotics in feed on immune organs and growth performance of male laying hens. Experiment was designed in Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replicates. The study Animal used 120 DOC (Day Old Chick) of male laying hens. Treatments consist of: P1 = Basal feed; P2 = Basal feed + 0.005% tetracycline ; P3 = Basal diets + 0.5% eugenol; P4 = Basal diets + 1.0% eugenol; P5 = Basal diets + 1.5% eugenol. Variables observed i.e.: immune organs (thymus, bursa fabricus, spleen, liver) and growth performance (weigh gain, feed intake, protein intake, energy intake, feed efficiency). The statistical analyses were carried out using Anova and LSD test. Results were shown high significant (P<0. 01) effects on thymus (immune organ) and growth performance (weight gain, feed intake, protein intake, energy intake, feed efficiency) of male laying hens. However, no significant (P>0.05) effects on bursa fabricus, spleen, and liver (immune organs). Our finding suggest that the use of eugenol clove leaf oil as a substitute for antibiotics in feed, with a level of 0.5%-1.0% of male laying hens resulted similar response to the use of tetracycline 0.005%.

Abstract

Garlic leaves contain a phytochemical compound, namely allicin which functions as an antimicrobial and antioxidant and can reduce cholesterol and fat in the body so that it can produce healthy chicken growth. Research on meat quality and productivity of broilers obtaining the garlic leaves meal percentage (R0=0; R1=2.5; R2=5.0; R3=7.5; P4=10%) in feed. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with The Honest Significant Difference (HSD) as an advanced test. The parameters observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass percentage, and carcass component percentage (chest, upper thigh, lower thigh, back, wings, and abdominal fat). The results showed the addition of garlic leaves meal had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on protein digestibility, energy metabolism, and feed consumption, but had no effect (P>0.05) on body weight gain and feed conversion. Treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the percentage of chicken breast carcass components, a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the upper thigh and lower thigh carcass components but had no effect (P>0.05) on carcass percentage, chicken back and wings. Treatment had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the percentage of abdominal fat. In conclusion, the treatment gave excellent growth in broilers and produced healthier meat due to the low abdominal fat content.

Abstract

This study, conducted from March to May 2023, aimed to assess the impact of fermented rice bran from cow rumen contents on silage quality, pH, and nutrient content with varying storage times. The experiment took place in Porame Village, Central Sulawesi Province, and Tadulako University's Feed Nutrition Laboratory. The study used molasses, rice bran, EM4, water, and cow rumen waste as materials. Employing a complete randomized design with a 2x3 factorial pattern, the study had 6 treatment combinations and 24 experimental units. Factors included fermented and unfermented rice bran ratios mixed with cow rumen content, and storage times (21, 25, and 30 days). Results from SPSS analysis indicated no significant interaction between fermented rice bran and storage time regarding physical quality and nutrient content. However, the pH of silage was significantly affected. Fermented rice bran (A2) led to a notable pH reduction compared to non-fermented rice bran (A1). In summary, this study concluded that while there's no substantial interaction effect on physical quality and nutrient content, pH measurements are impacted by the use of fermented rice bran.
